Vacation Shopping !

Well - our vacation is over and although I'm sad we had to leave the lake - I'm desperate to get back to stamping! (you know that feeling right?!?!)

But what is a vacation without shopping?? and shopping we did go on one of the rainy days we had - so I wanted to share with you the treasures that I found!

First stop was The General Wolfe on South Main St. in Wolfeboro, NH. This is a wonderful shop housed in a barn run by several ladies where they sell country stuff with some antiques mixed in.

And I found several items that I really needed to take home with me! Shown below are a wonderful Vanila Cream candle in a pretty metal lided glass container, a lovely embroided saying complete with a button and antiqued frame, and a beautiful primitiveprint pin mounted on a wooden oval.

And how could I leave these pretty bird themed items there? The bird house is made of wood with antiqued white and green paint on it and measures about 10 inches high and that wonderful woven bird nest on the green patinaed metal branch with the metal bird has a glass bowl in it and can be used for dips or nuts or even a little plant!?!?

And I just love these primative/country cocktail napkins - sorry for the glare of the wrapping on them - look how the set on the right has 'blanket stitch' around the edge!

And then we came upon baskets! The little one is made of a real heavy metal - the woven one is about 4" tall. I loved the quote block - I'll tuck this on a shelf somewhere in my house so visitors just come upon it unexpectedly! The best part of this shopping spree was that I only spent $57.00 on the whole lot - the prices of the things I chose were really reasonable (if not cheap!!)

Our next stop on this rainy day was The Straw Cellar on North Main St. in downtown Wolfeforo, where they sell lovely gift items, delicious fudge! (yes, we bought AND ate a pound!) and STAMPS!!! This year they have less stamping stuff than last year but there was still a whole wall of stamps and I found these great sentiment stamps that called out to me!

Not sure if you can read them so here is what they say from Left to Right:

I go to nature to be soothed & healed & to have my senses put in order (don't you love that!>!?!) it's by WORDSWORTH.

It's nice to know we're looking at the same moon. (thought this would be good for distant friends) it's by Claudia Rose.

We must be willing to get rid of the life we've planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us - Joseph Campbell (this really spoke to me as I had to get rid of the life I planned when I was divorced many years ago) it's by Rubber Soul

Faith is the daring of the soul to go farther than it can see - William Newton Clarke (we've been discussing just this kind of thought in our Bible Study class recently) it's by WORDSWORTH also.

So you'll be seeing cards from me soon using these wonderful sentiments!

Thanks again for coming by to visit - my next post will be something I've newly stamped! Yipee!!!

Looks like you had so much fun shopping!! When I was married, we used to spend a lot of time in New Hampshire..we almost bought a lot and moved up to Lake Winne! But that was a long time ago and I realize looking at your pics how much I miss going!

The Strawcellar is one of the places I always go in Wolfeboro. I'm so disappointed that they have REALLY reduced their stock, but it seems like the sentiments you bought are perfect ! Great shopping, and welcome home, GF!!

I live two towns over from Wolfeboro! I'm over there at least 2 or 3 times a week! Love the Straw Cellar but wish they had more stamping stuff like they use to :( My favorite store is Details and if I need something to eat, I love the Downtown Market Grille :) Hope you had a great vacation :)
