Waltzingmouse November Pajama Party!

It's the 14th of the month and that means it's time for the Waltzingmouse Pajama Party!  Around the 1st of every month Claire posts the 4 challenges for the party over at the Waltzingmouse Blog - so we can all get cracking on the challenges and have them ready to post on the 14th at the PJ Party!

Here are the 4 challenges for this month's party - along with the creations I made for them!

1. Scandi tags - Make a tag or set of tags featuring simple clean design - think Scandinavian style. 

For my tag I used stamps from the Nordic Winter set using red ink on a pretty almond colored dotted patterned paper.  I added an enamel dot to the center of the flower on the front and looped a piece of bakers twine through the hole.  I cut my tag with the Folding Tag Die.

2. Wrap it up warm - Show us your best gift wrapping - make a gift bag or box with a 'cozy' feel,

 I just love so many of Claire's wonderful templates have you checked them out??  For my gift box today I used her little Fairy House Box - which is one of her FREE templates. I cut it out using my Silhouette Cameo.

 The row of trees and row of stars stamps are from the Flurries Set.

 The snowflake and Merry Christmas are from the Alpine Christmas Set.  I cut the tag with a die from the Stitched Tag die set and the snowflake with a die from the Alpine Christmas Die Set.

 The roof lifts off the little house - and I tucked a gift card inside - and there's still plenty of room for either some candy treats or a another small gift.  I added Tiny Twinkles around the trees, stars and snowflake for a little sparkle.

 3. Old Pajamas -  Make a project using any of your older Waltzingmouse Christmas sets. (Claire asked the Design Team members who were coming to the party to use the Candy Jar Christmas sets)

I used stamps from Candy Jar Christmas  and Candy Jar Christmas Fillers as well as dies from the Jar Essentials Die Set for my card.  I stamped the Vintage Christmas Backgrounder on my background panel.  Doesn't it look just like old wallpaper?! When I stamped it - I didn't press all over the stamp so it left some un-stamped spots.  I colored the gingerbread men and the label with Copics and covered them with a layer of Glitter Glaze for some sugar coated sparkle!  I sponged all the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  I colored the faces and buttons with a black Glaze Pen.

4. Bedtime Story Sketch - Here is sketch no.8 -

 For my sketch card I used stamps from Flurries and Seasonal Flourish.  I cut out the center with the Pretty Panels #1 die.  The blue panel is popped up over the card base with foam tape and I added some rhinestones for sparkle.

Here's what I stamped on the inside of my sketch card using stamps from the same two sets as on the front.  Don't you just love the wonderful flourishes on these sentiments??!!

Creations by AR - Christmas in September

Welcome to the Creations by AR September Template Release Design Team Blog Hop!  Adela has designed 3 wonderful winter gift boxes -  Gingerbread Gift Bag, Starry Tree and Stack a Snowman!

Here's my version of the Gingerbread Gift Bag -  I decided to make it out of a piece of patterned paper from the Idea-ology Paperstash Wallflower paperpad.  I also used some Bazzill solid color papers for the trims, lollipops and gingerbread boy and girl.  I also substituted the small wreath that comes with this template with the larger wreath and bow that comes with the Stack a Snowman template that you will see below!

Here's a close up of the trimmings -  I used a Sakura Black Glaze pen to draw the details on the Gingerbread people and added rhinestones to the lollipop centers and doorknob.

Here's a side and back view - where you can see the wreath that comes with this template at the top of the house/box.I love how the paper makes the house look like it's part of the garden that surrounds the cottage (in my mind that is!)

I made 3 little Starry Trees - one for each of the sentiments - mixing up various greens and browns of Coredinations Color Core and Kraft Core papers - I sanded each piece to make them look weathered and folksy - I coordinated them by using the same color for the banners and gold paper for the sentiments and stars.

Here's how the boxes look with the tops lifted off - to reveal the 'tree trunk' box where you can place a small gift or candy treat!  I used the star cut out version for the top of this tree.

I love the look of the mix of colors on my trees.

This shows how the 'trunk' opens. After you fill the box -  you just pull in the sides and slip the top of the tree over it - how easy is that?!!

And finally for my Stack a Snowman -  I wanted to do something other than a white/black/red snowman - so I really went against convention (!) using green and cream patterned paper - I've had this Cosmo Cricket Jolly by Golly paper for AGES and I'm trying to use things up -  so here he is! The paper is two sided - and my snowman is made out of the front and back of the piece called Breezy Freezy

This is the same wreath I used on my Gingerbread cottage above.  I put home made green enamel dots on the bow and wreath.  Look how cleverly his hands hold the wreath!

I used rhinestones for his eyes, nose and mouth and tied a long piece of wrinkled seam tape around his neck.

And here he is all opened up - you can put treats in his head, his middle and his bottom (!).  And look at that cute hat -  that's my favorite piece!

All of Adela's templates come in two formats - PDF that you print and hand cut out, and cutting files you can use with machines like the Silhouette Cameo (which is what I use)

Creations by AR - April Release DT Blog Hop - Easel Top Box

Welcome to the April Creations by AR Release Design Team Blog Hop!  Today we are showing you the marvelously creative design of Adela's Easel Top Box.  This unique box can be used to store and display photos or recipes - I made mine as a way to store and display Bible Verses

I used a textured Coredinations paper in Mystic Grey for the outside of the box.  I sponged all the edges  with Ranger Distress Pumice Stone.  The cross is a Nestability die as well as the oval it's adhered to

 The decorative piece along the bottom was put on because of a mistake I had to cover (!) its a silver  Industrious Sticker - Borders from Tim Holtz that I inked with Orange Blossom and Fern Green Archival Inks.  I didn't have enough to go around the whole box - so I just put it on the front.

The box open - with the 9 Bible Verse cards I created tucked inside. You can see there's plenty of room for more!  I included 3 blank ones where I could write special prayers or thoughts.

I used Box Corners from Tim Holtz Ideology on the bottom corners of the box.

I made the Bible Verse cards using a Stitched Mat Rectangle die with Soft Stone card stock.   Even though the verses are from different stamp sets - I kept them uniform by using the same colors of ink and the pretty stem stamp.  The verses below are from Beautiful Blessings and Everyday Blessings by Papertrey Ink.

 Some of these verse stamps are from Verve and Clear Dollar Stamps (no longer in business)

I will put this box either on my desk at work or on my window sill by the kitchen sink - where I can rotate the cards daily or weekly to remind me of God's word every day.

The finished box measures 6.18" W x 4.5" H x 3.25" D.  I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the template.  It also comes as a PDF file that can be printed and hand cut out.

Creations by AR March Template - Carrot Patch

Welcome to the Creations by AR March Template Release DT Blog Hop!  Just in time for spring -  Adela has two lovely Templates for us - First is this adorable Carrot Patch Treat Box to help decorate our tables or give to the kidlettes in our families for all of our Easter/Spring celebrations!
I've got lots of pictures to share - so let's just get to it!

I cut 2 of the sign and sign post templates out of the patterned paper and one out of card stock so I could layer them together allowing me to decorate the front and back of the sign.  I used the card stock in the middle to give the sign more sturdiness.  My wood grain paper is a digital paper that I won on a blog challenge.

The stamps I used are from Waltzingmouse -

Here you can see where the carrots fit in.  You could remove the inside piece and fill the basket with a little stuffed animal, more candy or a little toy!  You can fill the carrots with candies then tie them up at the top.

I just love the little Lindt bunnies and chicks that come out each year at Easter time.  They are a great accent for my little Carrot Patch don't you think?!  I think the bunnies smell the carrots and want some!!

 The finished size of these sweet Spring decoration is 4.25" w X 3.38" h

And Adela's 2nd template is this lovely Standing Cross - that is perfect for Easter, as I have decorated it, or First Holy Communions, Baptisms - any religious celebration!  This cross is a box that opens so you could put a gift or treat inside.

I made my cross out of Elegant Eggplant card stock, using Sahara Sand for the base and the banner.  I decorated my cross with  flowers I had in my stash.   I die cut some grass out of green tissue paper - adhering two staggered layers of it around the base using ScorTape.

I decorated the back of the box in case I decided to use this as a centerpiece with people sitting on both sides of the table!

The Standing Cross Box measures 4.5" w x 8" h x 2.5" d


All of Adela's templates come as PDF files for printing and hand cutting, and SVG files for use with cutting machines like Silhouette Cameo - which is what I use.

Am I Blue?

Well, today I have two projects to share -  for three challenges that involved the color blue!

First -  I made an ornament/card layering a grey felt snowflake, a glittery plastic snowflake, a white cardstock punched snowflake and a blue rhinestone.  The felt ornament was in a set of three that I bought at Michaels last year in the $1 bin and the shiny plastic ornament was saved from a gift packaging.

 

I made this for the Merry Monday Challenge

 My next project was made for the Cas-ology Cue Card - Pumpkin and the Curtain Call Inspiration challenge.

And here is my blue and white pumpkin card!

My pumpkin shape is a template from Creations by AR - Harvest Pumpkins Set and the Stitched Leaves are dies from Lawn Fawn.  I hand cut the stem.  I sponged the edges with Ranger Distress Weathered Wood.  The Thanksgiving Wishes is from Lil' Inker Designs - Thanksgiving Wishes.   I LOVE the blue and white inspiration gourds - and I LOVE how my little white and blue pumpkin came out!
