Every Day

I made this beachy card to play along with the newest Just Us Girls Challenge.

I cut the sunglasses out of a cold drink plastic cup from Starbucks from about 6 years ago when I worked near one and used to get an iced  Matcha Green Tea Latte just about every day!   There are 3 different styles of glasses and I'm so glad I cut them out! They probably just had them in the summer time and I don't know if they still do?!

The flip flops stamps and dies are from Flipping Out from PTI (retired) and the sentiment is from Technique Junkies.

I was inspired by the sunglasses, the colors, the blue striped bit and the flipflops in the mood board.

Stamps:  Flipping Out - PTI, Sentiment from Technique Junkies.
Paper:  White, Kraft - PTI, DP Cottage Stripes and Dots - Memory Box
Ink:  Honey Nut - PTI
Accessories:  Flipping Out Dies - PTI, Scalloped Edge Die - Amazon, Border Bling Embossed Skinny Frames - Ink to Paper (PTI), foam dots and foam strips, acrylic red hearts - Honey Bee.

CAS Christmas - Mid Month Reminder - Cats and/or Dogs

Just a reminder that there is still time for you to join us at CAS Christmas Card Challenge this month!  The link is open through 2/24!

For today's card, I used another fun cat image from Technique Junkies - Christmas Carol Kitty.

The sentiment is attached to the cat stamp along the bottom - so I blocked off and stamped each line of the sentiment piece on white and punched out each line.

The letters stamp a bit close together -  so in case you can't make it out in the photo it says  "Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree"  and "Your ornaments are history."

I stamped the cat, masking the sentiment so it would fit on the die cut center panel, and colored her with Copics.  I added three red enamel dots.

I die cut the background with a Bold Borders: Polka Dots die from PTI (not currently available).  The cat and the sentiment strips are popped up on foam dots.

So please join us and get another Christmas card made!  You'll find the CAS Christmas Card Challenge and Mr. Linky here!

I'm also linking my card to:

February CAS Christmas Card Challenge - Cats and/or Dogs

February already!  When our minds turn to Valentines -  the CAS Christmas Card team is also thinking Christmas!  Susan is our creative hostess this month and she wants to see dogs and/or cats on our cards this month!

I love, and have had, both cats and dogs but presently Kent and I have a sweet older kitty, so I used a newly purchased cat stamp for my card.  It's called Christmas Mug Shot  from Technique Junkies - funny right?  Luckily, none of the 3 cats I have had has ever knocked down our tree, although our present kitty, Scout, does like to hit the ornaments near the bottom with her paw!
I stamped the image on watercolor paper, colored it with Copics and adhered the panel to a card base cut with Noted: Scalloped Square from PTI.  The card measures 3 3/4" x 3 3/4".

So we hope you will get out your cat/dog images and make a Christmas card so you won't be so rushed at the end of the year!   Check out all of the inspiration from the DT, as well as our lovely Guest Designer this month Jane ( Onions and Paper), over at the CAS Christmas Card Challenge Blog

Three Giraffes x 2

I am once again attempting to play along with Darnell's Twofer challenge - which this month is Zoo Animals!  These instructions always throw me for a loop!
I used a really funny giraffe stamp from Technique Tuesday called Attitude Giraffes on both cards.

I dropped Glossy Accents on the sunglasses (which you can't see too well here).  The sentiment is from What's Up by Avery Elle.
For my Twofer - I stamped the Attitude Giraffes on patterned paper and die cut it with a Circle Nestability and framed it in a Pinked Edge Nestability.  I added Eerie Eyes from Doodlebug and brushed over all the giraffes with Clear Glitter Wink of Stella (not showing in photo!). The birthday sentiment is from Party Animal by Avery Elle.

To be sure I made each card a different design, I enlisted the help of two sketch challenges!

For my It's Been Too Long card I'm linking to:
I tweaked the sketch a tad since my image was a long rectangle

For my You Party Animal card I'm linking to:

I like to send my young grandnieces and nephews cards during the school year - and so I made these to be ready for when they go back in the fall!
I used this wonderful Swirly Waves Background stamp from Technique Junkies and the fun S'Whale stamps and die set from Ellen Hutson.  I used Ranger Distress Salty Ocean Ink for everything!

Mid Month June CAS Mix Up Reminder!

I'm here today as a mid-month reminder of the June CAS Mix Up challenge!
Loll is our hostess the month and this is her challenge.
Here's my card using Layered Embossing Powders, Die cuts, stamping and water coloring.
Here's how I used layered embossing on my die cut seahorse.
I die cut the seahorse out of mat board.  Then I rubbed Versamark ink over the seahorse and spooned Baked Texture Patina Oxide Embossing powder over it.  This EP has powder and bits of gold in it.
I held my heat tool about 10" above the piece going back and forth over it so it wouldn't all blow off as it heated up.  Then I could move the heat tool down closer to get it all melted.  Look how thick and gorgeous this looks already!
Then I inked around the nose and up around the outside edge down to the tail with Versamark and spooned on Baked Texture Deep Sea Embossing Powder to add another layer and color to my seahorse.
(I picked the piece up carefully and moved it to a clean sheet of paper before melting the powder)
I used the same melting technique - holding my heat tool high above the piece until the powder started getting hot and then lowering it to completely melt the powder.
While I was at it -  I die cut 4 seahorses so I could make more cards!  They all look a little bit different, depending on how much of the Deep Sea EP covered the area.
I added a blue enamel dot for the eye.
To create the watery background, I took a panel of watercolor paper and tapped it onto my craft mat where I had rubbed Ranger Distress Cracked Pistachio Ink spritzed with water.   I stamped this fun Beach Day sentiment from Technique Junkies and glued the seahorse over the background.
You'll find lots of inspiration from the Design Team as well as links to videos for various Layered Embossing Techniques over at CAS Mix Up!  You have until 6/24 to link up your CAS project!  Hope to see you there!!
