Every Day Should be a Chocolate Day

Today I'm joining in with the Inspired by Challenge.

I really want to sip on one of these pink hot chocolates!!

I was inspired by the frothy white and pinks along with the strawberries.  Instead of a drink - mine is a heart shaped frosted cookie!

My card front is a Quick Card Fronts: Chocolate Sweetheart from Whimsy Stamps that I recently purchased.  I love how you can make a WOW card so quickly with them!

I used a Nestability Heart die that just fit this heart (!) to cut it out and pop it up.  I also added 3 white tuxedo hearts and a sentiment strip also popped up on foam.

I stamped Happy Valentine's Day inside!

St. Patrick's Day Bunny

I'm a mix of English, Irish and Scotch and bits of about  8 other European areas!
(Thank you - Ancestry.com!)

I always make cards to send to friends for St. Patrick's Day. Everyone's Irish on March 17th right?!!

This year I made these little bunny cards, dressing them up for the wearing of the green!

The bunny die is Carrot Bunny and the hat die is from The Gent both sets Tim Holtz/Sizzix.  The tag die is Tear Strip Tags from The Greetery.  The sentiment and stamped shamrock are from Irish Blessings from Papertrey Ink (retired).

I added shamrock stickers to the hat of the 'boy' and the ear of  the 'girl'.

I die cut two bunnies for each card and glued them together along the ears and top of the head so they would stand up!  I cut slits in the hat so the ears would pop through the top.

The Card Chain Challenge - February 2023 reveal

Today is the day all of the cards exchanged over at the Card Chain Challenge in February are revealed.  This month I sent my card to Lia in The Netherlands and I received a card from Gail in Canada (who is a new participant!)

Each month we are given a sketch, colors and various suggested themes, we only have to use one of the suggestions.

This month I used the colors, two of the themes: hearts, friendship and the Technique:  layers!

Theme Options: Hearts / Tags / Friendship

Product / Technique Options: Burlap or Gauze / Layers

I used Tim Holtz/Sizzix fun Abstract Faces die set for my image.  I bought the die set over a year ago and this is the first time I've used it!  The sentiment was cut with one of the dies in the Bold Text #1 set also from Tim Holtz/Sizzix.

I brushed over the face with Clear Glitter Wink of Stella to lighten it up a bit and add some shimmer.  You may be able to see that on the close up below?  It does really sparkle in the light IRL!

If you'd like to join in this fun monthly challenge you have until March 6th to sign up for the next month!  Check out all the details over at The Card Chain Challenge!

Love is in the Air

Today there is a new challenge posted over at Inkspirational. #283

So, the challenge is to use Stencils -  with an option of also doing splatters!

I decided to make a Valentine with a beautiful stencil called Spatter Heart from A Colorful Life Designs.

So the stencil itself already inks splatter (or spatter as the stencil is called!) around the heart but I also created splatter by flicking water onto the heart.  I used Lumberjack Plaid Distress Oxide ink over the stencil and Distress Inks are reactive to water as you can see in the closeup below.

I die cut a 4 3/4"x4 3/4" square of red card stock with a Lacey Square Spellbinders die and used the negative piece as a frame for my heart.  The frame is up on foam dots.
My card is 5" x 5" square.

Please join us over at Inkspirational and link up your stenciled cards! You'll find some lovely inspiration from the rest of the Design Team.   Maybe you will include splatter as well?

You have until Feb 24th to link up you card!

Sending Love in a Cart

Here's another Valentine I've made for the season.  I made six of these using different patterned papers for the background and different colors of 'frosted' hearts (red/white/chocolate).

I made a similar card about a month ago with a bigger plain heart in the cart and a die cut sentiment.

I used Glossy Accents on the heart and sprinkled heart confetti over it before it dried.  The Hand Cart die is from Charlie and Paulchen.  The sentiment is the from Good Vibes #4 set by Sizzix.

Sending Love

It's time for the next Inkspirational Challenge, and it's a wonderful Mood Board!

I'm sure you can tell - I  was inspired by the plate of cookies and the colors!

I die cut the hearts from Lawn Fawn out of white and Dark Chocolate card and spread a layer of Glossy Accents over each one.
Then I sprinkled Tiny Hearts Valentine Mix from Ellen Hutson over them and let the Glossy Accents dry overnight.

I die cut the background using Quilted Backdrop from Lawn Fawn.

The chocolate heart is up on foam dots overlaying the white heart.
I adhered the die cut sentiment from Memory Box beneath the hearts.

This card below was the first card I had made for the challenge, but I accidentally picked up the Crackle Glossy Accents!

When I first saw it dried - I thought "did it crack because it was too thick??"  then I looked at the bottle and saw it was the Crackle Glossy Accents, duh...... I had really wanted it to be smooth 'frosting' so I made the card above.
The only difference in the cards is the Crackle Glossy accents and a pretty patterned paper background. (Sweet as Sugar - Reverse Confetti)
It shows you how changing just one thing can bring a totally different look to a card!

Well, that and these cookies look like the frosting dried out sitting on the counter too long !

How will the Mood Board inspire you??   We can't wait to see what you create.  Check out all of the lovely inspired designs from the rest of the DT over at Inkspirational!

You have until Feb 10th to link up your project!

Guest DT at Time Out Challenge!

I'm excited to be Guest Designer over at Time Out today!  I was asked because my card was chosen the winner for Challenge #227

And this is the challenge - Inspired by Words

Here is the card I made for the challenge, inspired by the quote:
No stamping - all die cuts!?!  I just love the look of this layered plaid die set from TH/Sizzix.  I used a Chrome Precision Plate for Thinlit Dies in my cutting sandwich to be sure all the lines got cut through on the plaid pieces.

The sentiment was made using one of the Bold Text #2 dies also from TH/Sizzix.
I layered it over a black panel with foam strips and adhered red acrylic hearts inside the open letters - seen better in the close up below!

Todays Time Out challenge is sponsored by AALL & Create and the winning entry will receive a $20.00 credit to their online store- so be sure to link up a card over at Time Out!

Thank you Time Out for inviting me to be a Guest Designer today!  I had fun creating this card based on the Inspired Words!
