Nov 2023 Group of Seven Cardmakers Technique - Smooshing with Cling Wrap

The November Group Of Seven Cardmakers post is up today.  This month we are Smooshing with Cling Wrap.    There are full instructions and links to videos over at the blog.

Here are 3 of the cards I've created so far!

I made many panels using the technique using different colors as you'll see below.  Now I have lots of backgrounds to create with!

Inks Used on All Is Calm
Ranger Distress Uncharted Mariner, Peeled Paint, Gathered Twigs

Ink Used on Baby It's Cold Outside
Gray Brushos
I put the white die cut panel up on foam strips over the gray panel to give depth

Inks Used on Peace on Earth
Ranger Distress Festive Berries and Pine Needles

I'm linking this card to:
I have trees, sky and snow - but my sky is red!

Here are the steps I used to create all of the panels.
These particular colors were used on the background on the Peace on Earth card above.

1. I rubbed Ranger distress inks Festive Berries and Pine Needles onto my craft mat and spritzed with water
2.  Then I rubbed a panel of Bristol Smooth Mixed Media Paper over the inks - smooshing and pressing the panel, checking to see I got full coverage and stopping before it mixed too much
3.. I place a 'larger than the card panel'  piece of Cling Wrap over the panel .
4.  Then I wrinkled up the cling wrap over the panel with my fingers.
5.   If the panel warped a bit, I put a cutting pad over the cling wrap covered card and let it sit for about an hour. Then I removed the cutting pad and the cling wrap and let the panel dry over night before creating with it.

Here are all the panels I made using Distress Inks.
This shows how, even when you use the same inks, you get different results.

Left column - Festive Berries and Rusty Hinge
Center column - Uncharted Mariner, Peeled Paint, Gathered Twigs
Right column - Festive Berries, Pine Needles.

I wanted to try Brushos to see what happened with them using this technique.
Below, I used Sand Stone and Turquoise on left, Sand Stone and Gray in center, and Gray alone on the right.
I found the Brushos didn't melt with the spritzed water as well as Distress Inks and the colors I used didn't end up as bright.

I made the Baby It's Cold Outside card with the panel created with Gray Brushos.

We hope you will check out all of the inspiration from the Group of Seven using this technique - and that you will try it out yourself and link up your creations so we can see them!

Check it all out at the Group of Seven Cardmakers blog!

Inkspirational #303 - Seasonal/Thanksgiving/Fall

This is my DT card for Inkspirational #303 Challenge - Seasonal.  Here in the States we will be celebrating Thanksgiving on 11/23 and it is also the Fall season here, and I needed a few cards to send.

I used 4 die sets from the Greetery to create my card -  Herringbone Parquet, Botanicuts: Toadstools, Botanicuts Wheat, Fit to be Tied and A2 Arches.  I sponged the mushrooms, wheat stalks and ribbon with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and then assembled them.

Please join us and show us what Seasonal inspires you to create!
You have until 12/1 to link up your card.

You'll find lots of inspiration from the rest of our talented team as well as Mr. Linky at Inkspirational!

Aging Pumpkins

I found a really fun technique over at Splitcoaststampers - Aging Textured Die cuts.  here's the link to the YouTube video by Lydia.    Basically you smoosh your textured die cuts into several DOX inks and then sponge over them with Distress Vintage Photo.

I die cut the pumpkins from the Autumn Harvest Die set by The Greetery.  I rubbed Dox inks in Squeezed Lemonade, Carved Pumpkin, Crushed Pistachio and Salt Water Taffy onto my glass board, spritzed each color with water and pounced into each color with my die cut pumpkins until I liked the mix. I dried the pumpkins and then rubbed over them with my finger with Ranger Distress Vintage Photo ink which also highlights the texture lines.

I wanted to age the wagon as well as the pumpkins - so I die cut the wagon from Rubbernecker out of Hammered White card and rubbed over the pieces with with Ranger Distress Hickory Smoke and Vintage Photo ink pad before putting the pieces together.

I adhered the wagon with the pumpkins as well as a tree sticker and leaves from Jolee onto a piece of patterned paper from Rubbernecker with this lovely fall field scene.  I stamped the sentiment and splattered over the panel with my black POSCA pen.  Inside a stamped Happy Thanksgiving.

Warming Up Chilly and Freezy

Trying to get as many cards made as I can before Friday's deadline for the 2023 Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!

Once again, I used these fun Paper Cut Cafe dies, this time with Chilly and Freezy, a December 2022 special release stamp set. I die cut a snowy grounding for them using Deckle Hills Die from Rubbernecker.

You will notice they are holding the hot mug of cocoa/coffee with their stick hands so it doesn't melt their bodies!

There are lots of prizes to be won at the Coffee Lovers Blog Hop - chosen randomly by Linky entry # but you have to link up by Friday 11/10!  Check it out here.

Sewing with Cocoa

I've got another card for the Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Blog hop today.

My  design was inspired by the Featured Stamper Challenge over at Splitcoaststampers.  I CASED a card she had made with a sewing machine on it -  a funny item to have on a Coffee Lovers card right??

So I used a hot cocoa patterned paper for the background and the cloth on the machine!

I just love the detail of this wonderful Sew Vintage die and stamps from the Greetery, it has quite a few pieces to die cut but the result is well worth it!

(I die cut 4 sets while I was at it so I have 3 more to use on other cards when I want them!)

Inside I've stamped a Christmas sentiment.  I'm going to send this to a cousin who sews professionally, she'll get a kick out of the vintage machine.

Let It Snow - We've got Hot Chocolate

I'm finally playing along with the Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop.  I sort of lost track of these for the past couple of years somehow, but I'm joining in today!

I used a winter theme for my design - getting out an older Let it Snow die from PTI (still available and on sale!) and my newer Papercut Cafe mugs from TH/Sizzix.

I used two different pieces of DP from The Magic of Winter Paper Pad from Echo Park for the background and 3 shades of blue textured paper for the mugs.  The mugs are all popped up on foam dots.

You'll find the Winter Coffee Lovers blog hop here.    The hop ends on Friday Nov 10th.  There are tons of companies sponsoring the hop and lots of prizes to be won!
Winners are chosen randomly by Linky#.
