Group of Seven Cardmakers - March 2024 - Cover Die Eclipse

It's time for the Group of Seven Cardmakers March Technique.  This month we are creating using the Cover Die Eclipse Technique.

I recommended this technique to the GO7 after seeing it in a challenge over at Splitcoaststampers a year ago.  You will find a link to a video as well as a list of instructions over at the GO7 Blog.

I made 3 samples today.

This first one using the Fresh Floral Background Stamp from The Greetery, Layered Plaid Cover Die A - Altenew.

My second card was made using a smaller image (Stiple Rose - SU retired) stamped in the center of a panel with  stripes cover die from Amazon.

And then I tried the technique but with no stamping -  just using two panels of the same patterned paper - one for the background and one cut with an Arched Deco Plate die.  I love how this came out!

Here are some photos of how I made the 2nd and 3rd samples.

1) Take two panels of white card stock (I used white A2 card size, 4 1/4" x 5 1/2")
2) Put your panel into a card positioner and stamp the image you have chosen,  Put the second panel in the same spot in your card positioner and stamp the image in the same spot on the second panel.
3)  Die cut one of the panels with a cover all die.  Adhere the die cut stamped panel over the stamped panel and  the image should line up.

Then I wanted to see what would happen if I just used the same patterned paper for each panel - no stamping.
1.  Take 2 panels of patterned paper cut 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
I used 2 sheets of 6x6 from the same pack and cut them in the same place on each sheet so the patterns matched.
2.  Die cut one with the cover all die and lay it over the uncut panel
It worked!

To finish this card,I hot foiled the sentiment with gold foil and popped it up on foam dots.

As with any technique - you need to play with the supplies you have to see which stamps/dies work best!

So please join us and try out this Stamped Eclipse technique, make a card and link it up over at the Group of Seven blog so we can all see it!   While you are there - check out all the samples created the the other G07 DT!

Inkspirational #312 - The White Bunny

Inkspirational Challenge #312 has just gone live over at the blog.  It's a Designers Choice!  I am  the designer this time and my choice is use White on White!

And here's my card - just in time for Easter which is SO early this year on 3/31/24!

I used only white with a touch of neutral black just for the eyes, nose and sentiment!  I recently purchased this wonderful layered bunny die from Magnolia Ink - a company in Germany.  I just love how this bunny looks with all his layers. I used a simple embossed frame background of white.  I popped the layers of the bunny up on foam for even more dimension, but it looks great without using foam too!

I hope you will join us in this fun White on White challenge!  You'll find inspiration from the rest of the DT and Mr Linky over at the Inkspirational blog.

This challenge ends 4/5/24

Love from Us and the Dogs

I made this card for a friend to send her son, Andy, for his birthday -  my friend has 2 dogs and this sentiment from Woof by Taylored Expressions was perfect!

The dogs are an older Tim Holtz stamp and die set called Dog Talk.  I colored the dogs with Copics and added Glossy Accents to the eyes.  The dogs are popped up on foam dots inside the Polaroid die cut from Whimsy Stamps.  The background paper is paw prints - not sure you can see that as it's rather dark?!

Dennis: Poker Player and more!

A friend asked me to make a birthday card for her brother-in-law who is a new grandpa and loves to play poker.   So this is what I came up with!

I do NOT play poker - so I googled what are winning hands in the game.  My card shows a winning Straight Flush - 5 cards in a row of the same suit.  The cards were cut from a piece of DP from Stamperia Alice.  The backgrounds are from the same DP.

I stamped a simple birthday sentiment inside.

Colby's First Easter

A friend asked me to make a personalized card for her to send to her newest grandson, Colby, for his first Easter.

Here is the card I created - it's a small 3 1/4" square card.

The bunny is from Colorado Crafts and he's actually holding a snowball, so I added a sweet chick puffy sticker to cover it.  I also added a puffy mushroom and heart sticker.  I softly colored the image with COPICs.

Here's what I stamped on the inside along with another puffy chick sticker.

The challenge is Clean and Simple (CAS)

Since I recently purchased this fun Mickey die set  from Kat Scrappiness, I opted to feature a balloon!  I kept it CAS by embossing a white background behind the die cuts that are up on foam dots.  Lots of open white space!

So we hope you will join us for this challenge and link up your CAS design over at Inkspirational where you can also check out all the wonderful CAS designs from the rest of the DT!

Woodblock Dandelion Sympathy

I'm finally remembering to join in with Amy's Woodblock Wednesday Challenge today. Heaven knows I have LOTS of older and some new woodblock stamps!

Both of the stamps I used on this card are wood block as shown below -  the Dandelion stamp is newer, purchased at Michaels and the sentiment is very old from Simply Stamped. I stamped both stamps and then partially stenciled around the image.
I drew the frame lines with a Gold Sharpie and a ruler, tied the twine around the panel before adhering it to the card base and added 3 enamel dots.
I got this posted just in time - as this challenge end's on 3/4!

Stamps: Wooden stamps: Dandelion - Recollections, with Deepest Sympathy - Simply Stamped
Paper: Vintage Cream - PTI
Ink: Nocturne - Versafine Clair, Lavender Fields - Altenew

Feb 2024 Card Chain Challenge Reveal

It's time for the Feb 2024 Card Chain Challenge Reveal!   For February, I sent a card to Viv in the UK and I received a card from Hilary in the UK!

This is a fun world wide card exchange challenge, where each month you can sign up to send a card and receive a card.   We are given options to use on our card design each month -  we only have to use one of the options but can use as many as we want.

This month, I used several:  the colors, the sketch, theme options of Balloons and Friendship and Product option of Twine!

And here is my card:

The parakeet is a multi stamp/and die from Papertrey Ink both called Feathered Friends Mini 5.  They are older sets but still available (and on sale!).  The paper is from Petite Places Patterned Paper Pad (no longer available).

I die cut the Woodland Branch from Memory Box out of brown card and adhered it across the landscape.

I popped up the bird over the branch on foam dots.

I die cut the balloon, sponged it with ink, tied the twine around it and popped it up in the sky with foam dots.  I looped the twine under the birds feet so the balloon won't fly away!

I stamped the sentiment from the bird set in the corner and added 3 enamel dots in the colors along the roll of the hillside.

I sponged around the edge of the panel with Gold Pigment ink to add definition.

As I have been doing with many of my Card Chain Challenge cards lately, I adhered the panel to a mini easel so it stands up rather than having it on a folded card.

A couple of side notes:

We feed the wild birds in our backyard year round - and one day, several years ago,  I looked out and saw the bright colors of a  parakeet, like this one, on one of our feeders. I knew it must have escaped from someone's home and his wings were probably clipped so he wouldn't be able to fly very well - but I was unable to catch him.  I felt badly for the family that would be missing him.

I originally bought the stamps and die because my niece and her family bought a parakeet (because their daughter is allergic to dogs).  I made them a welcome Rocky card and haven't used the bird again until I made this card!  And since I had all the colors and stamps out to make the bird- I made 4 cards this time for my stash!

So please check out all the cards exchanged in February - and sign up to participate in March!  You'll find all the details over at the Card Chain Challenge!.
