Guest DT - Just Us Girls - #841 Mood Board

 Here is my third card as Guest Designer for Just Us Girls.  The challenge this week is a Mood Board.

I am really enjoying playing along with the awesome Design Team and these fun challenges!  There are so many ways you might be inspired by this collage of images.

 

I was inspired by the houses on the bottom right, the pumpkins in bottom center and the fall colors!

I recently purchased these fun cut outs - Carnival Night Party: Halloween Images from Loloyaya and was happy to get them out to play with for this card!  The house and sentiment is glued flat onto the DP.  The cute witch, ghost and crow are popped up on foam dots.

The DP is Spooktacular from Waffle Flower and the sentiment and sentiment strip die are from Taylored Expressions.

Guest DT at Just Us Girls - #840 Word Week Bold

 It's time for another challenge over at Just Us Girls - with my second card as the Guest Designer for Sept!  

I'm so excited to be playing along with the talented JUGS Design Team!

Here's the newest challenge:

And here is the card I created.

I'm thinking this DP from Retro Vibes by Whimsy Stamps is pretty bold?!  As well as the silhouettes of the disco dancers?!  from Retro Dancers Die set - also from Whimsy Stamps.

The sentiment is from Simple Strips: Birthday die cut with the Simple Strips Straight Edge die both from Taylored Expressions.  The birthday sentiment stamp has 13 sentiments on it, that all get cut at the same time using the die!

There were a couple of 'snarky' sentiments I thought about using from the set on my card - "Sorry to Hear You're Getting Old" and "Another Year Closer to Velcro Shoes"  that would work for someone like me who is old enough to remember the Disco Years (!) but I played nice instead - inside I used the sentiment from the set "Eat Cake and Celebrate".

I added 3 little gems that sparkle like a disco ball in the light!!

Guest Designer - Just Us Girls - Die Week #839 Thanks

 I am so honored to have been asked to be a Guest Designer over at Just Us Girls (JUGS) for the month of September! 

I was chosen because my card was a Winner of the Week in July here.  That was also die week!?!

Here's the first challenge for September  - Die Week/Thanks.

"Thanks" always makes me think of Thanksgiving - especially since we are almost moving into fall here in New England.

But I don't send many Thanksgiving cards....

so I went with Thank You using Fall colors!

I first cut a Dark Chocolate base that I  ran through my machine with the Pierced Spring Leaves Cover Plate die from Honey Bee.  

Next, I die cut the side panel out of Saffron Spice using Woven Cane Background die from The Greetery.  This die cuts a full A2 panel but I cut it down to be just about a third. 

I die cut the 'THANK YOU' from Gina Marie Stamps in Summer Sunrise, Saffron Spice and Terracotta Tile.  I cut three more out of Dark Chocolate and layered the colored ones over Chocolate to make them more sturdy.  I layered them on the card with foam dots. 

 

To finish off my design, I die cut the acorn using Autumn Side Kick Thinlits from Tim Holtz/Sizzix and adhered it over the O in the middle THANK YOU!

Sympathy Artwork

 I, unfortunately, needed some more sympathy cards for my stash.  So I took the opportunity take out a recently purchased, but not yet used, Postage Collage Picture Perfect Stencil Set and Picture Perfect Details Stamps to make my card.  

The stencil set has 6 different art work images that fit on the Postal Collage Die, so, since I had all the inks out, I stencilled 4 panels.  So, I have a lot of art work images ready to use when the inspiration hits!

  I framed the 'artwork' using a frame die in the Postage Collage Frame Dies set.

The framed artwork and sentiment are up on foam dots.

Cream and Gold for an Anniversary Card

 Today I made a card for the latest Color Hues Challenge.

I found it to be a tricky combination!  

I was die cutting all kinds of images and going through all my metallic and cream papers, matching this, changing that until I finally felt like this was a good combination.

Very difficult to photograph with the metallic gold papers though!

I embossed the base of Vintage Cream card stock using the Plaster Embossing folder from Spellbinders that gave it a nice depth.  I die cut the Flower Jar from Gina Marie Designs out of Kraft Metallic Gold paper from Tim Holtz/Idea-ology.  The strip of gold/cream DP is from an older 12"x 12"paper pad Cotton Fields by DCWV.  I gold embossed the stamped sentiment.

This shows the shine of the metallic gold papers and gold embossed sentiment a bit better.

Inkspirational Challenge #371 - Visual Prompt

 The newest challenge is up over at Inkspirational.

As you can see -  I went with the lemons from the Visual Prompt!  

I'm not partial to lemons (too acidic for me) and so found that all I had in my craft room on the topic of lemons, was a stamp of a glass of lemonade (which will be have to wait to be used on another day)  and the Dried Citrus Slices die from the Greetery, which I die cut and inked with Distress Inks.  

They can be lemon slices or orange slices depending on the color you use!  The die cut leaves are Etched Laurel Leaves from Simon Says Stamp.  The background was embossed using Fallen Leaves EF from Sizzix.  One of the lemon slices is up on foam dots.  The sentiment strip and yellow gems are from Waffle Flower.

Birthday Balloons!

 I made this card today with four challenges in mind.   The stencil I used from PTI (retired) is 6"x 6" so I cut the panel in half to 3" each and trimmed the top/bottom to measure 5 1/2" and was able to make two cards out of stencilling once!  I used an 01 Black Micron pen to draw the balloon strings.  The sentiment is from The Greetery Sentiment Suite: Birthday.

Like an Octopus on your Face

 Today I'm playing along with both the Just Us Girls Challenge and Color Hues!

I used a retired Text+Texture Ocean stamp from PTI for the background using Crushed Pistachio and Worn Lipstick.  

I stamped the Octopus from Sea Life by Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous (Simon Says Stamp just came out with the dies for the Sea Life Set and I've ordered it but I had to fussy cut the octopus today. 

 

The sentiment (which absolutely CRACKS ME UP!) is a single stamp - Octopus Face from Technique Junkies.  It includes an image of an octopus but I didn't ink that part.  (I'm not sure if they are still in business)

I did use Old Paper Distress around the edges to soften the white card base and sentiment.

Bokeh Birthday

 Today I'm joining in on a few challenges with my stenciled Birthday card.

I used a newly purchased stencil - Bokeh Stencil Trio from Waffle Flower.

When I used the two colors from the Color Hues Challenge with this stencil it ended up looking more like a Christmas background?!

But I didn't want it to be a Christmas card (!) so I tried 4 different Birthday sentiments with many mixes of the colors: white/black/green and coral - before finding this Birthday Trio Die from Gina K Designs which made the background look more like a birthday card and I was happy!

 On my first card, I used white, coral and green inks on the 3 part stencil.

On my second card I just used coral and green inks on the stencils.
