Group of Seven Cardmakers - Stencil Monoprinting - Sept 2024

It's time for the Group Of Seven Cardmakers September post.  This month we are playing with the technique of Stencil Monoprinting.  You will find links to how to videos over at The Group of Seven Cardmakers blog.

You can create beautiful backgrounds or focal points for your cards, depending on the design of the stencil.  Basically you are using the background of the stencil to create your panel.  You can leave it as is on your card, or you can place the stencil back over top to add different ink colors or embossing paste to fill in the design.

Due to the larger/longer sizes of the stencils I used, I made all my cards Mini Slimline size - 3" x 6".

Rosette Stencil from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous - Salty Ocean Ranger Distress Ink
Gondola dies are Alexandra Renke
Illusion Twist Stencil from Altenew - Scorched Timber Ranger Distress Ink
Succulent Stencil from Stencil Girl - Mowed Lawn and Forest Moss Ranger Distress Inks
A few photos of how I made my backgrounds.

Rub water reactive ink (like Ranger Distress inks) over stencil and spritz liberally with water. For this panel I used two colors - Mowed Lawn and Forest Moss.
This stencil is  6"x6" so I was able to make 2 mini slim line cards from it (3"x6")
Flip the stencil over onto a panel of watercolor paper and press over the stencil to help the watery ink absorb into the paper.
Remove the stencil and again press over the panel with paper towel or cloth to absorb any pools of watery ink.

We hope you'll give this stenciling technique a try!  We have a Mr. linky over at The Group of Seven blog so you can share your card with everyone.  We'd love to see what you create!

Seize the Birthday - Tic Tac Toe

Today is my last day as Surprise Party Guest over at Seize the Birthday.  I have so enjoyed participating in the June and July challenges and thank Nanc' and the team again for having me!

The challenge for the next two weeks is Tic Tac Toe!

I chose the top horizontal line -  stripes, one layer and stencil.
Here's the inside of my card to show it is for a birthday - for a sea-loving guy (or gal!)

I used the double stenciling technique for my background that was the Seize the Birthday challenge on June 17th.  If you're interested to see how I double stenciled my background, please see this blog post.

So pick a row of Tic Tac Toe - and join us over at Seize the Birthday!

Seize the Birthday - with Fruit, the Calories Don't Count!

There's a new challenge over at Seize the Birthday today - as I continue my participation as Surprise Party Guest!

The challenge is always Birthday and there is always a design option - which this week is Fruits.

And here's my card where I used the option of Fruit!
My charcuterie board is loaded with strawberries, cherries and slices of pineapple along with a round of brie and a few crackers.

And, although my sentiment says "the calories don't count on your birthday" - the fruit on the board is all good for you so you can eat it without guilt!
But the birthday cake and ice cream for dessert might be an issue??!!

The board and food items are stamps and dies from Avery Elle, the coaster die is from The Greetery and the sentiment is from a retired set from Papertrey Ink.

So please join in and show us your birthday cards and maybe use the option of Fruits in your design?!  You'll find lots of inspiration from the talented Design Team as well as Mr. Linky over at Seize the Birthday!

Inkspirational #319 Snowy Stencil

Today I am sharing my DT card for Inkspirational challenge #319

Optional Twist use Paste

I went with the option and used Snowfall Distress Grit Paste through my stencil.  My card base is a navy blue.

Here's a close up to show how thick and gritty the Snowfall  paste is - I had to leave it to dry overnight! I also splattered the panel with a white POSCA pen.
The tree arch stencil is from a set of stencils called Fairy Tale Christmas from a Make It Market Kit by PTI (retired).

So we hope you will get your stencils out (and maybe some paste!?!) and join us over at Inkspirational -  where you will also find some lovely stencil inspiration from the rest of the DT!

I'm also linking my card to:

Time to Hit the Beach

Today I'm joining in with the Just Us Girls Challenge #732
ends 6/26
I was inspired by the blocks of images, the pink and blue colors and the beachy feel.

I die cut the base with the Postage Collage Die and used the Postage Collage Coloring Stencil to color inside the sections - both from Waffle Flower.  The crab, seahorse,  air bubbles, fish and starfish are rub-ons from the Wild Life Set from Taperlogy.  The sentiment and palm trees are stamps from My Island a retired set from Waltzingmouse.  I added 3 pink enamel dots to the sentiment.

I'm also linking my card to:
