Inkspirational #307 - Layered Tulips

 Happy New Year everyone!  It's time for the next Inkspirational Challenge which is Stencils with the option of using more than one stencil or layering stencils!

I knew I was going to use my beautiful tulip layering stencil from Unity Stamps.  I also purchased the die that goes with the stencils (there's a stamp set also if you don't want to stencil but I didn't purchase that.)  

My card is a slimline size - 3 1/2" x 8". 

I used a Gold Gelly Roll Pen to outline all the edges and rubbed a Gold Pigment ink on the edges of the die cut and background piece of DP for a little glimmer in the light.

December Card Chain Challenge 2023 - Serving Up Snow

 Today is reveal day over at the Card Chain Challenge Blog.  For the December exchange, I sent my card to Gundi in Germany and I received a card from Linda in Minnesota!

This month was the trickiest challenge ever -  a 5 row Tic Tac Toe Board - AND all the words start with the letter B!

After I settled down from my panic attack on how to create a viable card design with these B words -  I decided to choose a die to start with and then tried to fit it into a line. 

 

I wanted to make a winter card - but not necessarily Christmas or New Years. 

  

So I went with an elf serving up snowflakes on a Snow Day!

I used the left vertical line - Brass (the elf), Bloom (the DP), Belt (twine belt on the elf), Border (cut using two sizes of A2 Arches dies), and Blue (on all patterned papers used)!

Instead of a folding card - I adhered a die cut easel to the back of the panel so it stands up for display.

Inkspirational Challenge #306 - Moodboard

 Here is my DT card for the newest Inkspirational Challenge #306 - it's a Moodboard full of Gold, Black and White inspiraiton!  

I decided to make an Anniversary card using the Gold, Black and White colors.

I remembered I had purchased this lovely shaker wine glass die set when it was on sale over at My Favorite Things several months ago.  

And, of course, it languished, unused,  in a drawer in my craft room.  I was happy to get it out and finally use it!

I added a strip of the DP on the inside of my card to continue the festive feel.

Group of Seven Cardmakers - Torn Edge Design Element

 This month the Group of Seven Cardmakers are playing with the Design Element of torn edges.

Here is the my card.

To create this background I followed  2) Gina K's Video linked below on torn stenciling.

 

I  tore one edge off of two strips of card stock.

I taped the torn edge pieces along the top and bottom of my white panel to mask off a small portion (if you know you are putting your sentiment in the white space on top or bottom, be sure to leave enough room for it.)

I laid my stencil (Pebble/Lavinia) over the open space in the middle.

I used a blender brush to blend a light blue ink (Sea Glass/Altenew) over the stencil, then I blended a little bit of darker blue (Dusk/Altenew) over some of the stencil to add a little depth.

I removed the stencil and  blended a little more of the darker blue along the torn edges of the masks.

I removed the torn strip masks and brushed very lightly over the white at top and bottom with the light blue ink just to soften the white and to give a grounding for my fairy (or you can leave it  white)

I stamped my images  (Lavinia) using Nocturne Versafine Clair Ink.

I colored a few areas on Fairy Starr with a yellow Copic and added a printed sentiment along the top.

Inkspirational Challenge #305 - Celebrate: Nativity

 Inkspirational Challenge #305 has just posted! 

and here is the DT card I made for the challenge.  I am celebrating the birth of Jesus with my card.

I bought this beautiful Nativity Triptych from Tutti Designs at least two seasons ago and this is the first time I pulled it out to use it. I love this beautiful scene!

I die cut the triptych out of metallic gold and then cut out a panel of black with it. I inserted the gold die cut into opening in the black panel.

I created my background using the Smooshing with Cling Wrap technique.

Inkspirational #304 - A Glittery Unicorn for Evelyn

 Here's my DT card for the newest Inkspirational Challenge #304 just posted.  Pia is the Designer to choose the challenge this time - and she wants us to Add Glitter!

A friend asked me to make a card for her 2 year old granddaughter - and I thought what would be better than a shaker Unicorn with glitter cardstock?!

I used this fun Potbellies Unicorn die from Papertrey Ink.

  (unfortunately no longer available - I also have the Penguin, Santa and Reindeer Potbellies!). 

 

I personalized it with her name and age, and die cut the wings, snout, hair, horn and flowers out of glitter paper.  I added a mix of colorful gems/sequins in the shaker piece.

I die cut another base piece and adhered it to the front so it stands up.

November 2023 Card Chain Challenge Reveal

 Today is the day that we see all the cards exchanged for November in the Card Chain Challenge!  This month I sent a card to Ellie in IL and I received a card from Joanne in CT.  

Here's the card I made.  I just LOVE this apple pie that I made using To Pie for Die from The Greetery!  I think it looks SO realistic and all I did was sponge the layers with Distress Inks!  The coaster die under the pie is also from The Greetery.

This month I followed the sketch, the colors (sort of) and the theme of friendship.

I adhered a die cut easel on the back of my card panel so it can be stood up for display if so desired.
