Happy Saturday everyone! Before showing my offerings today - I'm excited to announce the winner of my blog candy! There were 61 comments and Random Number Generator chose #32 as the winner and that is:

Bunny B who said...
I read you every time you update as you're in my reader :) I love your creations!!! Happy Holidays!!

So Bunny - Congratulations!! - send me an e-mail (julia.aston@comcast.net) with your address and I'll get that package right out to you!

And thank you all for your wonderful supportive comments of my blog - they really made my week!

First up for my projects to show you today is my card for the Inspiration challenge on Split Coast. Stef chose another fun ETSY site 'Block Party Press'. I chose this fun city scape necklace for inspiration.
I immediately thought of this Amuse city scape stamp that I stamped 3 times and embossed in silver. I adhered it with foam dimensionals and cut it to fit the full width of the card.I didn't use my embossing buddy before embossing the sentiment (Vippies)so the little extra flecks that stick with the static would look like stars in the sky. The embossed stars are from the Take a Bough set from Papertrey Ink. I embossed the large star with silver on black, cut it out and adhered it with a foam dimensionals.

Stamps: City Scape: Amuse, Stars: PTI Take a Bough, Sentiment: Vippies
Paper: grey Bazzill, white: PTI, Real Red, Basic Black: SU
Accessories: silver embossing powder, embossing pad, hot gun, foam dimensionals

And next I want to share a couple of fun Christmas crafts I found while surfing some blogs.
I found this cute idea for pops at this site although Ashley made them for candy canes. We're having a Christmas craft sale at church and I thought these dressed up our yummy chocolate/rice crispy lollipops that Jeannine made. The stamp I used here is from Papertrey's 2008 Holiday Tag collection with Ripe Avacado Ink from PTI.

Next up is this adorable little coaster frame for pictures with Santa (or any picture!) that I found on Lorri's blog here.
I added a picture of my sister Marcia and me (I'm on the left age 4!) Could my bangs be ANY shorter?!?!?

The picture is just clipped on so the purchaser can remove it and slip their photo right on. I used a heavy weight coaster for this and covered it with designer paper from SU. I punched a tag (Pure Poppy PTI) and stamped Merry Christmas from the All I Want for Christmas sentiment set by H&M Stamps on it. I attached the tag to a white card stock rectangle (2 1/2 x 3 1/2) and attached that to the covered coaster. The belt is 1/2" black grosgrain ribbon and the belt buckle is made from a 1" square of Summer Sunrise card stock (PTI) I punched two slots on it using the slot punch from Stampin Up to slide the ribbon through.

Lorri had attached magnets to the back of her coasters - but I made an easel stand for mine using a piece of coaster as shown. I scored it to allow it to bend and attached it with Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive - that's also what I used to attach the DP to the coaster.

Today I am so thankful that we have heat and electicity - we had terrible icing north and west of us on Thursday night (we just had torrential rain where I live) and my son lost his utilities at his condo so came with April and his two dogs to stay overnight with us (power was restored today to them) - and my sister lost her utilities and a giant tree branch fell on her car and blew out the back window crushing the trunk. Another beautiful birch tree out front came up by the roots and fell against their roof! But we are thankful there was no damage to her house or to them personally. They have been told their power may be out for 4-5 days so they hurried out to by a power generator - luckily they have a wood stove and running water.

Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope you are inspired by my crafts today to make some of your own!

Half a Wonder

First! a reminder to check out my blog candy here: you have until 7 pm EST tonight to comment for a chance to win! I'll post the random number winner Saturday.

The Ways to Use it Challenge on Split Coast was called the Half Baked Challenge - to use half of an image on your card. I stamped Mr. Moose (Amuse stamps) and cut him in half! The theme is kind of 'tongue in cheek' double entendre - the sentiment alluding to the wonders of the holiday season - but with this card it could also be about the hunting season - (poor moosey!) I added metallic skeleton leaves (to cover his missing hiney!) and the sentiment is cut with a spellbinders tag trio die. (and I just thought - I should attach his 'other' half to the back of the card - wouldn't that be a hoot for the recipient!?)

It was kind of a quick card - not having too much time last night to create - so no coloring or much embellishment - but that works for this masculine card anyway I think - don't you??

Thanks for coming by today!

Stamps: Amuse
Paper: Choc Chip, Naturals Ivory: SU, DP Basic Grey Figgy Pudding
Ink: Dark Chocolate: PTI
Accessories: gingham ribbon, spellbinders tag trio die, foam dimensionals, cuttlebug, metallic skeleton leaves.

Are you Ready for some Football?!

First! a reminder to check out my blog candy here: you have until tomorrow - 12/12 at 7pm EST to comment for a chance to win!

Boy - where has the time gone?!? I haven't posted for 2 days - that's a long time away for me!!! Did you miss me?!? LOL! You're probably glad for the rest right?!?!? I seem to have something every day after work this week - chiropractor, Bible Study, hair cut, one night Christmas gift shopping and then a work Christmas Party on Friday - my social calendar is seriously cutting into my stamping time!!

I have been working 0n a couple of cute holiday projects to sell at church that I've found while surfing around blogland! I'll post them here over the weekend.

Here is my card for the color challenge on Split Coast this week- to use Riding Hood Red, Taken with Teal, Baja Breeze and white.

I thought these colors were kind of masculine so I decided to use my H&M Stamp set "For the Love of the Game for this card. This is a great sports set and includes images of football, golf, baseball and hockey - I used the football stamps since it's the season !! I distressed and sponged all the edges. I punched some little stars and added them over some of the stamped stars. I went over the stars and the image with my silver spica pen so there is a little shimmer on this IRL - but it doesn't show up in the picture.

I used Tayloredexpressions Friday Sketch but I turned it on it's side!

Oh - and look what I was honored with this month from Heather and my fellow H&M Stamp DT members - I'm the star DT of the month which means I get 10 yards of fun ribbon and recognition with this sweet star to post on my blog!! (thanks ladies!)

AND - check out the H&M ad on my side bar - Heather is having a HUGE garage sale on January 6th and 7th so be sure and mark your calendars to check that out - I'll be posting more about that later!!

We've gone from the deep freeze to tropical rain here the last few days - yesterday it was rainy and 58 degrees ! and today it's raining again in the 40's and north and west of me are going to have icing - you gotta love New England - if you don't like the weather - wait a minute and it will change!!

Hope you have a great day - and thanks for coming by!

I'll be posting the winner of my blog Candy on Saturday so be sure to check back!

Vellum Votive Shade

First! a reminder to check out my blog candy here: you have until Friday 12/12 to comment for a chance to win!
What a wonderful New Technique challenge today on Split Coast! We made a vellum wine glass votive shade. You can see the pattern for this here. (it's an adobe file). Most people made winter themed shades but I went with a touch of spring for some reason!?!?!
I used my Martha Stewart flower punch and the leaves from Stampin Up's Bodacious Bouquet to decorate my shade. I added a red dew drop to the center of each flower. I colored the petals with Real Red reinker and my aquapainter and I stamped the leaves with Kiwi Kiss. The vellum is Stampin Up cardstock so it's a little stiffer than regular vellum. I used a flickering battery operated votive that I got at Michaels for inside my glass. You can see the 'flame' peeking out behind the flower! It looks so pretty with the lights out!

This is such a simple technique that really makes a wonderful table or mantel decoration for any holiday - you can see all the other wonderful vellum shades here.

Today we were frigidly cold here in MA - it was 9 degrees when I left for work and didn't get much above 20 all day - and when the wind hit me it went right through my winter coat, gloves and scarf!

Thanks so much for coming by today!

Stamps: Bodacious Bouquet: SU
Paper: vellum card stock: SU
Ink: Real Red, Kiwi Kiss: SU
Accessories: Martha Stewart Flower Punch, tacky tape, dew drops

Inspired Housewarming and Brewin a Birthday

First! a reminder to check out my blog candy here: you have until Friday 12/12 to comment for a chance to win!

Stef's inspiration for us over at Split Coast this week was an Etsy site of beautiful necklaces 'Images Under Glass'. There were several that inspired me but I finally chose this one to make a card of for the challenge.I've been making so many Christmas holiday cards lately I felt like doing something different today. I used stamps from the Peaceful Decor set by H&M Stamps.

I paper pieced my vase with Roundup Designer Paper from Stampin Up and punched the flowers. I made the centers of the flowers with my 1/4" hole punch. The background paper is Cosmo Cricket Halfway Cafe. The butterfly is a Martha Stewart punch.

I cut the framing for my sentiment with one of the Spellbinders Tag Trio dies. It is up on foam dimensionals

Stamps: Peaceful Decor: H&M Stamps
Paper: white:PTI, sage shadow, really rust, so saffron, Roundup DP: SU, Cosmo Cricket Halfway Cafe DP
Ink: onyx black versafine, terra cotta Adirondack, so saffron: SU
Accessories: corner rounder punch, butterfly punch: Martha Stewart, small flower punch, 1/4 inch hole punch, sponge, spell binders tag trio, nestability rectangle

My second card today was made for the Featured Stamper Challenge on Split Coast. What a wonderful gallery of cards 'Annascreations' has! I finally decided on this fun card to CASE. I love the Basic Grey Archaic designer paper and the colors of it go so well with coffee related images. I used the same colors and sketch as Anna's card - but changed the stamps used and the placement of the sentiment.
I also added a layer to the designer paper panel. My stamps are from a set called Coffee's Brewin by H&M Stamps. This set is full of fun coffee related images. You can check it out here.

We're having our first snow fall here today in Massachusetts so I keep bursting out singing Christmas Carols. DH and I are off now to visit dear MIL to help her address and send out her Christmas cards. Hope you have a great rest of the weekend!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Some Blog Candy and Two Flaky Cards

As promised - here is some blog candy to celebrate my reaching 50,000 hits. It includes Twisted Sentiments (some kind of R rated!) by My Favorite Things, Grill a Fella by Stamping Bella, the fern punch by Martha Stewart, some brown tone chipboard buttons by Colorbok, and a Designer mat pad by K&Company.

All you have to do is leave me a comment telling my why it is you stop by my blog!

You have until Friday 12/12 at 7 PM EST to leave a comment - I'll post the winner on Saturday 12/13.

and now for some cards -

For the limited supply challenge on Split Coast you could only use snowflake stamps, it had to be monochromatic, you could only use one word and you had to use bling!I think I got it all! I stamped the big snowflake on the card stock - then stamped it again - cut it out and layered it off kilter over the stamping on a foam dimensional. I used a snowflake background stamp and my Martha Stewart snowflake punch. - I'm afraid I got a little yellowish glare on the bottom right of the picture :(

This also qualifies for Sharon's No Time To Stamp challenge and the Our Creative Corner challenge.
Stamps: large snowflake: Penny Black, BG snowflakes: Trees Three- SU, Noel: 2008 Holiday Tag Collection: PTI
Paper: white, Spring Rain: PTI
Ink: Spring Rain: PTI
Accessories: foam dimensionals, circle punches, ribbon: PTI Spring Rain Twill, Martha Stewart snowflake punch, rhinestone stickers: Michaels
For my second card today - I was inspired by this bag from Bath and Body that I got when shopping there a few days ago.

I used the Three Trees set from Stampin Up (retired) and the sentiment from Silent Night by Papertrey Ink. I love the contrasts of the grey with the red and the simplicity of the one layer.

This card also qualifies for Sharon's No Time to stamp challenge as well as the Our Creative Corner challenge that I linked to on my first card above.

Stamps: Trees Three: SU, Merry Christmas: Silent Night PTI
Paper: White: PTI
Ink: Pure Poppy: PTI, Lake Mist: Adirondack
Accessories: Poppy Red Satin Ribbon: PTI

I appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to stop by here - have a great weekend - hope to see you here tomorrow!

A Birthday Card Coaster Photo Book

I seem to be making a lot of these cute little coaster photo books lately! This one is for a co-worker's wife that will be from their children and has pictures of the children inside.

I used Cosmo Crickets Happy Camper designer paper throughout the book. The coasters are medium weight and I used silver 5/8" wire to bind it with my Bind It All. I love that you can buy different colors of wire for these books. I've seen white, black, red and silver so far.

I gathered sentiment stamps from all around my stamping room for my pages - trying to find just the right thing for each page. That's what took the longest time in creating this! The cover stamps are from The Women of Life set by Papertrey Ink and I used my rectangle nestability as well as the fern and dove punches - both by Martha Stewart.
This is Noa on the left, doing a nearly perfect split! She's a 6 year old ballerina and 10 year old Roee on the right - who is actually a competitive swimmer - but we see him climbing on things in this book! The Absolutely Fabulous sentiment is PTI Mixed Messages and the U R the Best is Gina K Designs - Text Messages.Let's Hang Out is from the Little T's set by Gina K Designs and A Very Special Delivery is from the Faux Ribbon Set by PTI.

For the final note on the back which I just used a small corner of and sponged and distressed the edges - is the Lined Paper background stamp by Cornish Heritage Farms and the words and date are stamped using Karen Foster Snap Stamps (which I believe have been discontinued so I'm so glad I have mine!) I told my co-worker to have his kids sign their names here.

He was gratifyingly thrilled with this little keepsake I created for his wife! and that makes all the effort put into creating it worth it for us stampers - right??!!!

You can see all the other coaster books I've made by looking in the Index in the right column of my blog.

I appreciate your coming by today!

Paper: Medium Coasters, DP: Cosmo Cricket - Mr. Campy, Ruby Red, Certainly Celery, mellow Moss, sage shadow, close to cocoa: SU
