I'm here today to remind you there's still time to join us in the March CAS Stencil Ghosting Challenge! Mr. Linky is open until 3/24!
I am happily hosting the challenge this month so I really hope you will join us and show us how you create a CAS card design using Ghost Stenciling!
For my reminder card I decided to use Ranger Distress Inks for my base.
I sponged Salty Ocean, Twisted Cintrol and a little bit of Hickory Smoke over a 4"x 5 1/4" panel of watercolor paper.
I laid my Intersecting Brick Circles stencil from Stencil Girl over the panel - taping the edges to hold everything in place.
The stencil is bigger than the panel so I could decide what design I wanted on my panel - I set it slightly off center. I thought it would be a little more interesting that way!
I took a baby wipe and rubbed over the stencil removing some of the exposed ink. Be sure your baby wipe isn't too wet - or it will remove all the color as well as soak the paper!
And here is my Ghosting of the stencil. I dried the panel with a heat tool and that actually made the colors look a little brighter when it was dry.
I cut my panel in two horizontally and was able to make two cards.
I added a die cut balloon that I stamped with stars (die and stamps from Birthday Balloons PTI) and tied a piece of black jute around the base of the balloon. It's interesting to see how different a look you get just by the curve of the jute!
The sentiment is from Penned Elegance II from PTI
These will work well for all those guys we need birthday cards for!
You will find Mr. Linky, lovely inspiration from the Design Team, as well as links to technique videos over at the CAS Stencil blog here.
Please join us!!
I'm also linking my card to:

Awesome twofers Julia! Always great when you can get two wonderful cards from one background. The black jute is so cool! I do have some but had forgotten all about it! :) Need to pull it out. I love the starry balloon over your very cool ghosted background. Looks fabulous together. This has been a really fun challenge Julia! Thank you! xx

The technique has worked beautifully and love the design and colours of both of your fabulous masculine cards and what a great stencil and sentiment too.
Your ghosting worked so much better than mine! Love the results you got - it's a perfect background for the starry balloon.
A beautiful ghosted background, Julia! Love the balloon with the curled string! Great challenge!

This is so pretty with those great colors together and I love the stars on the balloon. That is a cool stencil. Thanks for the tip about using baby wipes. I had so much better luck doing it this way. I was ready to give up and I'm so happy it worked using the wipe.
Awesome ghosted birthday cards, Julia! Adding a little of Hickory Smoke worked so well for the colors of the background. The effect of the technique is wonderful! The floating balloon is perfect for the brick wall stencil and tying the black jute to the balloon is a really nice finishing touch! Thanks so much again for this fun challenge!
