Happy New Year everyone! I just checked out the January CAS Mix Up Challenge and it's BOKEH!
I've never done Bokeh before and it looked so fun - I just had to join in. You may know that I was on the CAS Mix Up team - but for 2019 I've moved to the NEW Stencil Challenge team
(see more about that below!)
So I checked out the linked videos over at CAS Mix Up and got to work.
I sponged a 4"x 5 1/4" panel of Bristol Smooth White with Twisted Cintron and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Inks and let it dry. Then I cut my own circles stencil using a piece of acetate and different size circle dies. I sponged over the circles in a random pattern with Glacier White Pigment Ink, overlapping some and inking some more heavily so they look like they are closer.
I cut my panel in two so I was able to make two cards.
So I used Bokeh, stamping, die cuts and sequins.
The scallop border is from PTI, the die cut birthday is from WPlus9, the HAPPY above is from PTI and the happy below is from a Dec Freebie set from PTI.
You'll find the CAS Mix Up Challenge here.
And I'd love for you to check out the new CAS Stencil challenge Loll is launching on Jan 4th! You will find the CAS Stencil Challenge here. A great opportunity to use all those stencils laying around in your craft room!! Hope to see you there!
Stamps: Never Enough: Birthday, You're Beautiful Birthday set (freebie in Dec) - PTI

What fabulous cards to show off the Bokeh technique to perfection. Both cards are so pretty and love the colours you've used for the backgrounds. Always good to get the two cards out of the one larger piece of card.
Thank you for joining in the fun challenge at The CAS Mix Up with your beautiful cards x
Looking forward to seeing your card on the 4th with the new challenge too x.
Gorgeous Bokeh background, Julia. I love how you got 2 backgrounds out of one sample. Your sponged color combo is so beautiful. Adding the scalloped framing and your stamped sentiments made 2 beautiful birthday cards for your stash. So happy you tried the technique Julia and joined our CAS Mix Up Bokeh Challenge. Hugs..Nancy
Great colour combo and wonderfully CAS :)
LOVE the blended colours in the background Julia. There's something wonderful about lime green and bright blue ... especially when paired with white. Your scalloped border is so pretty. Great work with making your own stencil to do the bokeh technique. It turned out amazing! Can't believe this is your first time with this technique! xx
Beautiful bokeh effect in lovely colours! Nice design to let the bokeh panel take centre stage!
Bokeh is such a great technique and you have achieved it beautifully Julia, I just love the delicate colours in the background - I would have thought you had been doing this technique for ages!! Hugs, Anne xx
What a refreshing color combo, Julia! It's perfect for the new year. I love your Bokeh effect! There's something happy, hopeful, and fresh about it. I can't believe this is your first try. You've already mastered the technique. And it's so interesting to see a variation, just changing the sentiment font and color. Love both of them.
Thanks for joining us at CAS Mix Up. Looking forward to your creation at CAS Stencil tomorrow! :-)
Hideko xx
