For the month of February, the Inspiration Team is going to do a post using one of their favorite Eileen Hull Sizzix dies. Each week there will be a collection of them over on Eileen's blog.
Today I'm using one of my favorite's - The 3D Adirondack chair!
This die brings back so many summer time memories - and I love how much it really looks like an Adirondack chair!
When I was little, we each had our own Adirondack chair in our back yard - mine was red, Marcia's was blue, mum's was yellow and dad's was green.
I have some photos showing how I put this sweet chair together.
It measures about 4"x4"x4".
I wanted to use the birch wrapping paper I bought at Pier 1 Imports this past Christmas season to cover my chair and wanted it on the front and back of all of the pieces because you can see all sides of the chair after it's put together. I used a sheet of Stick It on both sides of the white Little Sizzles Mat board and covered both sides with the birch paper so I didn't have to cut out each piece and glue them onto the mat board.
It worked like a charm - you have to cut out one more of the arms piece and two more of the back slat to complete the chair
First, you adhere the slats to the back piece of the chair.
Than you adhere that piece to the base.
There are some simple instructions on the inside of the die photo cover so be sure to save it.
You attach the arms using the top hole on the back piece of the chair and using the middle hole on the front. (note the brads below - one is face in one is face out.
You can see the face of the brad on the back of the arm below.
I added a little glue along the top of the front leg to hold it to the arm of the chair.
I used a word from Eileen's new Floral Arch and Words Thinlit die set across the back of the chair. I wanted it to say "friends' but the words in the set are friend and moments, so I die cut both words out of black fun foam - snipped the s of of moments and added it to the end of friend!
There was a lot of space between the Paper Doll boy and the dog on the chair - so I filled it up with some small shells I picked up on Sanibel Island, FL when I was there on vacation several years ago.
(they have the BEST shells on the beaches there!)

I was inspired to put the vintage boy on the beach chair by a photo I have of my grandfather on the beach fully dressed and on the beach. My uncle Charlie is the boy in black, my dad is the curly head in white - and the grown up is my Grandfather Hurll - who died before my parents were married so I never knew him.
Here is my Grandmother Hurll, she also died before my parents married, and she too, is fully dressed on the beach - I was named after her but for some reason they called her June instead of Julia. Uncle Charlie has a tie on in this photo and my dad has on socks and shoes.
The photos aren't dated - but my dad was born in 1914, my uncle was 8 years older than him, so maybe he was 3 or 4 and Uncle Charlie was 11 or 12 in these photos? So this might have been 1918 or so? They lived in New Bedford, MA and they vacationed in a big house in Maine several summers.
So this dapper boy and his dog could have been from the same time period!? And could be wearing his street clothes on the beach!?!
