I've recently been watching Eileen Godwin's wonderful weekly YouTube videos using Lavinia Stamps and beautifully inked backgrounds. I made this card using a few of the techniques she has taught on her videos. My card design was also inspired by a card from this week's Featured Stamper over at SCS.
I started by masking the edges of a white card panel. Then I sponged over the Drifts and Hills Stencil from MFT using 3 different shades of blue Distress Inks (Broken China, Tumbled Glass and Speckled Egg) shifting the stencil around the panel and sponging the color off the edge of the stencil.
Then I placed the Pebble Stencil from Lavina over the panel and sponged lightly over just a part of the stencil.
(I confess I had a little smudge of black on the tendrils of the fairies hair and stamped a star to cover the smudge!)
Then I stamped the sentiment from Tiny Text by Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous.
I die cut a circle out of acetate and used the circle itself as a mask, placing it over the head of the fairy and sponging around the edge of the circle mask which created a spot light around her head.
To finish off, I added Nuvo Crystal Drops in Gloss Simply White on her wings, the mushrooms and stars.
I'm linking my card to:
Ink: Obsidian - Altenew, Ranger Distress Broken China, Tumbled Glass, Speckled Egg
Paper: Bristol Smooth Surface, White, clear acetate- PTI
Accessories: Drifts and Hills Stencil - MFT, Pebble Stencil -
Lavinia, round sponges with applicator, Nuvo Crystal Drops Simply White
Gloss, Circle Spellbinder die, masking tape.

Way to duo stencils! What an awesome fairy! Thanks for joining in at JUGS
I'm having so much fun watching Eileen's videos, awesome effect layering the stencils and great save with the stars on the smudge- I would never have guessed :)
Such a beautiful, dreamy creation! I love what you did with the stencils on that background and the images you chose are perfect for that dreamy effect. Love the addition of the Nuvo drops as well. Great recovery with the star on the tendril. Thanks for playing along with us at JUGS!
I agree - Eileen's videos are great and I am learning lots of new techniques from them. Love the gorgeous blue background with the fabulous stencil layering. The mushroom lanterns and the fairy are beautiful - great save with the little star!
Yes I have been enjoying Eileen's videos too Julia x. Fabulous layering effect, the prettiest of tonal blues and one beautiful card and the star too.....Lol x.
This is AWESOME, Julia! A fantastic background with so much interest and the fairy and mushrooms stand out beautifully! Great save on the smudge!
Beautiful card Julia! I LOVE all the layers to create this amazing design. Especially love the stenciling that gives a spotlight right on the Eden's face. Perfections! And cool with the Nuvo Glass white glaze ... have to get some of that! :) xx
Your stenciling creates a beautiful background for your star-of-the-stage fairy! Stunning! Thank you for sharing this gem in the JUGS gallery!

This is an absolute stunner Julia - what an amazing background you've created. I've always been tempted by Lavinia Stamps but never bought any...I think you may have inspired me to get my purse out...
