Garden Journal Tutorial using Eileen Hull's Sizzix Dies

Today I have a tutorial for my Garden Theme Passport Journal using Eileen Hull's new Sizzix  Bookbinding and Label die inside a journal made using her older Passport Die!  I posted the journal a few weeks ago for Eileen's Blog Hop.

Here are photos of the finished journal and the pages inside.

Back cover of Journal.
I used beautiful papers called Under the Tuscan Sun by Ciao Bella for my covers and pages.  The daisy is a die from Wild Flower Stems #1 - Tim Holtz/Sizzix, the sentiment is from Tiny Text from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous and quote stamp is from Stampotique.
The rest of the garden quotes and images are stamps from Stampotique.

I added a little notebook I had in my stash, stenciling it and then adding a die cut Ragged Daisy from Poppy Stamps and sentiment from Tiny Text.
I stenciled the background with Pebble Stencil from Lavinia.

Here's how I put it together
The bookbinding die is a way for you to attach your pages inside a journal.
I die cut the piece and did valley and mountain folds on the scores
I added ScorTape to one side of the 'mountains' then pressed them together to create the bindings.
This is what it looks like - die cut, fan folded and glued.
Flat on the back
I trimmed it down to just 3 ridges to fit the width of the binding in the Passport Journal,
I die cut the pieces of the Passport Die out of Little Sizzles White Matboard - one binding and two covers.  The other piece in the die cuts pages for the journal.
I adhered the binding to the inside center of the journal binding piece.

Here are all the pages cut out using the Passport die.
I then cut another binding out of a lovely piece of black leather and adhered it to the matboard die cut binding lining up the holes in the binding.
(Sizzix may not carry this anymore but you can find leather on Amazon)
I glued the front and back covers on the inside of the journal binding piece.

Then I glued two pages together around each of the binding ridges.
So there are 3 pages- 6 surfaces.
I held the base of the pages with clothespins to be sure they were adhered to the binding.
As already shown above -  I adhered a little notebook to the inside of the back cover.

I knotted a piece of black round elastic cord, doubled it up and wrapped it around the journal
You can add a pen to either the binding or opening side if you want to keep one handy with the journal.
Please check out Eileen's Blog for more inspiration using her new Chapter 2 Dies!

Hope Your Day Sparkles!

Today I'm sharing another card I made after watching more of Eileen Godwin's wonderful YouTube videos using Lavinia stamps.

(See my other card on this blog post.)

First, I partially stenciled the background with the Flora Stencil from Lavinia using blender brushes with Tumbled Glass and Picked Raspberry Distress inks.  Then I stamped Brie Rose, a Whimsical Hare and the Mini Stars 2 with Obsidian ink.  I die cut circle masks out of acetate, laid them over the images, one at a time, and used a blender brush to sponge around the edge of the mask to create the spotlights.   I added gold Stickles to the stars and splattered with white Gouache.  The sentiment is from A Little Sparkle from Lawn Fawn.
I'm linking my card to:

Tutorial for Three Sizes of Gift Tags Using Eileen Hull Sizzix Dies

Today I'm sharing a more detailed tutorial about how I made these lovely tags using Eileen's new Chapter 2 Sizix dies.  I had posted these a couple of weeks ago on the Design Teams blog hop.

I used the tag dies from Card: Waterfall and Tags set for this project as well as two of Eileen's dies from past releases.  The tags are the dies on top and the waterfall dies, used in my project last week, are on the bottom - they all come in this die set.
I made 3 sizes of pretty gift tags that can be tied around bottles, or gift bags or attached to a wrapped package.  They are so pretty they could even be used as a tag card all by themselves!
This is the largest tag in the die set - 2 3/4" x 4 1/4"
The medium tag measures 2 1/4" x 3 3/4"
and the smallest tag is  1 1/2" x 3"
I love how the heated flowers add such dimension to the tags!
I used some of the dies from Eileen's older set - Bookplate Hinges and Labels to cut pieces to stamp the sentiments on.
I looped some wrinkled seam tape through the holes of the tags so they could be tied to a gift, bag or envelope.
Here's how I made my tags and flowers.
I used some beautiful shiny foiled papers from Rinea for my tags - adhering the foil to white card stock and then die cutting them with the tag dies.  This set of foiled papers have lovely small stars on them which gives the tag a pretty textured look.
Then I die cut lots of pieces of flowers using the flower and leaf dies from Eileen's  Folio Page  Pocket and Flowers.
The flowers are die cut out of Sculpting Foam from Sizzix which is flat but curls up nicely when you blow hot air on it with a heat tool.  It actually shrinks the foam a bit which causes it to curl up.
I held each piece down in the middle with the tip of my tweezers so the edges curled toward the center when I added the heat (other wise it blows right off the table!).  Then I mixed and matched the colors and shapes to create flowers, some large, some smaller, gluing them together at their centers.

Thanks for stopping by - I hope you have enjoyed my tutorial!
Eileen will be posting projects made by her Inspiration Team and Education Team using her new Chapter 2 dies on her blog every Wednesday this month if you'd like to get inspired!

CAS Christmas Mid Month reminder - Rainbow

I'm here with a reminder that you still have time to join the April CAS Christmas Challenge. You need to link your card by April 24th!  It's a tricky challenge -  hostess Trina wants us to think Rainbow and Christmas!

I used the colors of the rainbow to color this lovely stained glass stamp.  I embossed the image in gold and then colored the sections with Copics.  I die cut the image and popped it up on foam dots.
I die cut the frames with a beautiful new frame die set I recently purchased by MFT - Stitched Rectangle Scallop frames -  you can separate each frame and use it by itself or you can leave some together like I did here and create a beautiful multiple framing!  I took one frame off from the outside and two off from the inside here.

This shows the shine of the gold embossing and the lovely frame edge details.

So please show us how the rainbow inspires you in a Christmas card design!  You'll find lots of inspiration from the Design Team as well as our Guest Designer over at CAS Christmas.  You have through 4/24 to link up your card!
