Dressing up the Jute Bags!

Hi friends!   It's the start of the weekend - Yippee!!  and double Yippee for me because I'm on vacation for a week!  I'm just going to be at home as DH doesn't have the week off -  but the weather is supposed to be perfect summer weather - so I'll be in the yard gardening, sunning a little (with the sunscreen on, of course!), going to a small circus with my sister, my niece and grand nephew and there will be some stampin' goin' on I'm sure!

Today I have a fun project to share with you that is posted over on the Pouch Mart Blog.  I'd SO appreciate it if you'd check it out and maybe leave a comment?!  (the comment button is at the TOP of the post)

So here they are -  my dressed up Jute Bags!   How'd I dress them up???  by spray painting them with Silver Spray Paint!  I got the idea from good ole' Martha Stewart.
I made a pom pom flower out of pink raffia and pinned it to the bag with the sentiment tag.

All my stamps are from Waltzingmouse.  All supplies are listed below.

You'll find all the details and more pics on how I made these over at the Pouch Mart Blog.

Waltzingmouse July Release Day - with Playful Pinwheels!

Are you as exited as we are about Claire's Waltzingmouse Release this month??!!

Well - today is the day all of the sets we've been showing for the past 3 days, as well as a new set being revealed today,  are available for purchase - and we're having our traditional Design Team Blog Waltz to celebrate!

You should start the waltz at Claire's blog -   if you have come here from Claire's blog - you are in the right place as I am the 2nd spot on the waltz card!

Which is your favorite??  Heroines - Fairy Princess? -  North Shore? - My Island? -  or today's super fun set -designed by our very own Anya - Playful Pinwheels??

First up - I used one of the sweet little patterned pinwheels - (there are 5 little ones in this set, each with a different pattern) I inked it yellow to go with the fun sentiment 'Sunny Side Up'!  I love that there are solid sticks and outline sticks for the pinwheels - this light colored pinwheel needed the softer looking outlined stick and I colored the inside with a grey Copic.

Next I made a lovely quilt-like pattern stamping two of the small patterned pinwheels.  I stamped them on Guide Lines Grid Sheets paper from PTI, although they line up so easily just stamping them point to point - I really didn't need the grid paper!   I thought I'd use just black and white for a masculine card - simply adding clear rhinestones to the centers and on the banner sentiment. I think this would make a great anniversary card!
For my final  project - I just had to get a 4th of July card in using the large pinwheel!  There are 4 different patterns you can use for the arms.  I used the stars and the stripes - stamping the center piece again on a scrap, cutting it out and layering it over the base with foam tape.  There are 13 different sentiments to go with the pinwheels -  I used Celebrate for this one and cut it with a Pennant Banner die curling it a bit around my finger and adhering it with foam tape..  I used the Mojo Monday Sketch for the design of my card.
You can see from the side view - how I popped up the center part.
I'm also entering this in the Twisted Tuesday Challenge - to make a refreshing creation (the wind spinning the pinwheel!) and the twist is to use red.

Now - off you go to the next stop on the blog waltz -  the ever talented Laurie.

Remember to leave comments all along the way -  one lucky commenter will be chosen from one of the Design Teams blogs to win a stamp set of choice! You have until July 4th 6:59 am EST to leave your comments.  The winner will be posted on Claire's blog on July 6th!

And don't forget to go shopping!!

WMS Sneak Peek Day #3 - My Island

Wow - we've already reached Day 3 of the WMS July Release Sneak Peeks.  Did we whet your appetite for the beach with the mini set yesterday!   I hope so - because today we have a full size seaside set to show you called My Island.

There are often 'things collected' when we are on holiday - so today I made a slider box to hold some of these 'things' (tutorial on Split Coast Stampers) when you open this box -  the box slides out one end and a card slides out the other!
When I had the pieces for the box cut out - I stamped them with the larger chicken wire from the Chicken Wire set and sponged all the edges with Scattered Straw Distress Ink. I also stamped the images on the card part of the slider.  Then I put the box and slider together using the tutorial

I stamped the lovely palm trees inking them in brown and green, the cute straw hut over the sky background stamp and two of the sentiments from My Island onto a panel, sponged and distressed the edges and layered it to Monarch die strips on two sides.  I adhered it to the top of the box with foam tape..
I had this great starfish button from a bag of buttons my SIL Carol gave me.  I punched a hole in the end of the box and slipped a metal clip (that was holding the button onto the button card) through the metal shank on the button (see two pics above for a peak at the clip) This will hold it on securely as you have to tug a bit to get the box to slide!
Here's a view of the card part where you could write a message to the recipient or the place the momentos came from as I did - I stamped the smaller group of palm trees in the set here as well as another sentiment.  I die cut the waves that I adhered along the top.
A strip of plastic shopping bag adhered around the 'slider' piece is what makes the box and card 'slide' (see tutorial)
And here are some shells DH Kent and I picked up along the shores of Sanibel Island a few years ago.  You just cannot walk down the beaches there without picking up the gorgeous shells that are all over the sand!
I stamped a panel to slip into the bottom of the box as well.  I love the fonts on the sentiments in this set!
What summertime treasures would you put in your slider box??!
Now lets head off to the rest of the WMS Design Team blogs to see what summer fun they have in store for us! Just click on each name below!

WMS Day 2 Sneak Peek - North Shore

Welcome back for Day 2 of the sneak peeks for the Waltzingmouse July 1 release!   Didn't you just love all the sweet fairy princess inspiration yesterday?!! (if you missed it scroll down to my post below!)  Thank you so much for all your lovely comments!

Well - today we're going to the beach with another mini stamp set called North Shore.  Vacations are all about creating memories -  so I decorated a 3 1/2" x 4 1/2" Mini Chipboard notebook where I could write notes of my summer adventures and place a picture or two (or 20!)!

I stamped this wonderful surfer image in Bamboo Leaves ink and cut it with an oval Nestability.  Then I stamped it in Bahama Blue on a scrap and cut out the surfer and summer part of the sentiment.  I stamped the NORTH SHORE in Black and the flowers in Rose Bud cutting out and layering the pieces over the original green stamping.  The surfer and flowers are popped up with foam tape.

Then I die cut the waves, stamped the sentiment and punched it with my word window punch adhering them along the bottom as you see.  Here's a side view so you can see the popped up pieces.
I added ribbons tied in double knots along some of the 0 wires -  they remind me of seagulls flying over the ocean waves!
Inside I stamped some images from the set you will see here tomorrow on Day 3 of the Sneak Peeks!
Once again -  we are off to see what the rest of the Design Team has to inspire us with this fun summer surf mini set!   See you tomorrow for Day #3!

WMS Sneak Peek - Day 1 - Fairy Princess!

I am SO excited to welcome you to Day 1 of the Sneak Peeks for the Waltzingmouse July 1st  Release!  Today the Design Team Members linked below are highlighting the sweet new mini set called  Heroines - Fairy Princess. This set can be used all on its own - or can be partnered with Half Pint Heroines

I have a brand new baby girl grand niece coming in August -  so I know I'll be using the PRINCESS theme a lot over the next few years!
So first off -   there are two cute little froggies -  I used the one with a sly smile and a crown on his head along with the one sentiment in the set.

And here is our lovely princess in her beautiful gown, out front of her very large castle (a cut file (or PDF) from Claire that will be available for you!), waiting to get into her lovely carriage (cut file from Creations by AR includes a PDF if you don't have a cutting machine)  She's also hoping that the pesky frog will hop off the hem of her gown!
I put a little stand on the back of my Princess so she could be put in different places in her Royal World!
See-   here she has scurried over to the front of the Carriage!  (and the frog is still with her - she just cannot shake him!)
Here's a close up of the coach - there are even pretty curtains in the windows!
Oops!  now she is looking through the window of the carriage - she's just standing on the other side - but you could cut her in half (gasp!) and tape her inside looking out!
Goodness - can you tell I had fun with this sweet little stamp set??!! I just kept taking more and more pictures!!   Ok -  here's the last one before you go off and check out everyone elses creations!  Claire's castle cut file is supposed to be folded in half as per below - so it becomes a Castle Card! (and I see that I forgot to push out the window and top of the wall cut outs on the right side - oops!!!!)  And the poor frog is STILL waiting to be kissed!!!

Now come along with me to check out the rest of the Design Team's creations!   Don't forget to come by tomorrow for Sneak Peek #2!!!   (with this release we welcome BACK Bonnie Sharp to the WMS Design team!  Please give her some extra love when you stop by her blog!)
