Eileen Hull's Chapter 1 Phone Stand Bigz Die

Eileen Hull/Sizzix has just released the new Chapter 1 dies, stamps and embossing folders.  For the Month of February,  Eileen's Design and Education Teams are sharing projects using her new designs.

Today I am sharing her wonderful Phone Stand Die.

First, I have photos of the finished project and then a few photos of how I put it together (it's really simple!)

I used this beautiful Ink Drops - Vivid paper from Craft Consortium on all the sides and pieces - stunning isn't it?!
(it looks like I did some pretty good work with Alcohol Inks - but no, not today!)

Simple how to:
Die cut the 3 pieces for the Phone Stand out of white matboard.
Fold the large stand base piece at the score line with the slit openings. The two other score lines on this larger piece are the back of the stand (to the left of the slits in photo)
Fold the smaller tabbed-piece on the score line in the middle, slip the tabs through the slots in the folded base piece and glue the tabs in place.
View from the front.
Fold the second small piece on the score line and put ScorTape on the inside .
Adhere this piece over the outside of the first tabbed piece, lining up the edges at the top of the first piece..
Fold on the score lines on the back piece of the stand.   Add ScorTape to the end tab.
Adhere it the tab to the back of the long piece - being sure it's not tilted back too far to hold the phone in a good position
(I put my phone on this to see how it sat, before adhering the tab to the back)

To decorate the top edge of the stand, I die cut two scalloped edges from Eileen's Gift Box Scalloped Edge die released last year (the top of the larger piece in the center of the die) cutting it out of matboard and the patterned paper.
I cut one scallop on the score line and adhered the patterned paper to both scallops, also stamping the sentiment on the smaller piece.
I adhered the smaller scallop over the larger lining up the straight edge and adhered them to the top of the phone stand with the larger scallop extending above the edge of the stand.  I added some enamel dots and hearts on the scallops.

After adhering the paper to all the sides - I sponged over the edges to cover the white matboard - it gives it a more finished look!

Be creative in your thinking - this stand could be used to hold mail on your counter, photos on your shelf, or a calendar on your desk - what else can you think of??!

Check out Eileen's blog every Wednesday in February to see all of the Design Team's inspiring creations using her new Chapter 1 dies!
