A New Year and New Dies from Eileen Hull/Sizzix!

Happy New Year everyone!   Can you believe it is now the year 2020?  It seems like just yesterday it was 2000 and we were all worried about everything crashing with Y2K right?

Well, there's something else new besides the year today -  Eileen Hull is releasing two Chapter 1 dies at Creativation in mid-January and I'm showcasing one of them today -  her Gift Box with Scalloped Edge die.

I made a Circus Theme box for a Circus Theme Birthday Party and I found a free digi of the perfect invite (link below)!   I'm thinking you could make a few of these boxes (they are 3 3/4" square) for the food table with peanuts or popcorn or other treats or if it's a small enough party you could make one for each child to hold their party favors - they work up really quickly!

The elephant, monkey and birthday invite are all free digital images from The Graphics Fairy.

I die cut two box pieces and two of the larger scallop out of matboard.
Here you also see the smaller scallop and the decorative label that is part of the die.

 

 I folded the box pieces on the score lines and adhered them together with red line tape on the end tabs, leaving the top piece unattached so it would open of course!

I printed and die cut 4 elephants using a 3 1/2" square Nestability to adhere to all 4 sides of the box - like an elephant line marching into the circus or down the street in a parade!   I fussy cut the little monkey and adhered him over the elephant on the front panel with foam dots.

 I added the larger scallop edge pieces (there are two scallops on the die one large with a tab and one smaller without a tab) to the front and back of the box to give the illusion of the Big Top Circus tent! 

Both the Ring Master on the front and the Strong Man on the back are stamps from an older Big Top Stamps and Dies set from Tim Holtz/Sizzix.  I colored them with Copics to match the colors on the digi elephant.

I had covered the top of the box with the dotted paper, then die cut pieces to cover the front and fold-over tab of the scallops.

I die cut a second Strong Man and Ring Master out of white card and layered it to the back of each figure so it all looks clean and neat.  I added the Metallic Sticker Quotation to the front and it's done!

I just love my little circus box - now I just hope one of my grand nieces or nephews gets hooked on the circus so I can give them this!
