The Minions

I have two Minion cards to share today - you know, those cute little yellow guys from the movie Despicable Me?    I was totally inspired by this post of Kim Heggins and she was inspired by this post of JJ Bolton.
I added hair (like Minion Carl accept Carl only has one eye!) and overalls to my little Minions.  My DH asked me if I could make him a Thank You card that he could send the the Physical Therapists that have been working with him since December after he had shoulder surgery.  He just ended his therapy a week ago and is now supposed to do the exercises they taught him at home.
I didn't really have any 'physical therapy' type stamps so when I saw Kim's Minion - I thought he would be really cute for my card! I think it will give them all a chuckle! The Thank You stamp is from PTI (a special set from 2011 that I got free for ordering a zillion stamps from PTI that year - not for sale).
And then I realized that I had missed my friend's 13 year old son's birthday on 7/1 - and I know he loves the Minions - so while I had all the 'stuff' out on my table - I made this card for Destin.  The Happy Banner is from PTI, the balloon die and Birthday are from WPlus 9.  I used Karen Foster Snap stamps for Destins name (no longer available).  I also used Stitched Mat Rectangle dies on both cards along with a Nestie Circle die on the 1st card.
For both Minions - I used a sheet of yellow fun foam for the body - using my Apothecary Bottles dies to cut the shapes (but you could certainly hand cut this shape!).  I punched the eyes with a 1/2" circle punch and punched out the center with a 1/4" hand punch.  I backed the silver with 1/2" punched circle of white - and made the pupils with a dot of Black Enamel Accents.  I cut little narrow strips of black for the hair - gluing on longer pieces and then trimming them off after they were dry.  I hand cut the overalls - using the yellow body as a template for the width and bottom edge.  I drew the stitches with my 01 Black Micron Pen.

I'm entering my birthday Minion in Virginia's View Challenge - to use Dies
and to the Moxie Fab Wonderful Words challenge

Stamps:  A Big Thank You - PTI (not available for sale), Whole Lotta Happy - WPlus9, Snap Stamps alphabet - Karen Foster (no longer available)
Paper:  White, Blueberry Sky, True Black, Lemon Tart - PTI, Silver - Michaels

Accessories:  yellow fun foam sheet - Joann's, Whole Lotta Happy Dies - WPlus9, Happy One Liners Die - PTI, Stitched Mat Rectangle Dies - Lil' Inker Designs, Apothecary Bottles Die - Sizzix Alterations Tim Holtz, 01 Black Micron Pen - Sakura, Black, Enamel Accents - Ranger, foam tape, Scortape, Glue Pen, 1/2" circle punch, 1/4" punch

Hahaha, these minions are adorable! Love that you created them by hand. My son's 6 year-old baseball team is called the Minions ... it's so perfect too with them scattering aimlessly on the field.
