Inkspirational #331 Stencils

Here's my DT card for the Inkspirational Challenge, and during this busy holiday season, it's an easy one!

I used a new to me 4 piece stencil called Pretty Petals Layering Stencils from This Calls for Confetti.

I used just two inks, indigo and soft stone, over Alpaca card stock.  The sentiment is die cut from holographic silver card and I added 4 gray enamel dots over spots that were gray ink from the stencil, just to add a little texture.

So take a break from holiday preparations and get to your craft room!
Please join us and link up a card using a pretty stencil!

Due to the holiday season, this will be a 3 week challenge -  You have until January 3rd to link up over at Inkspirational!

Happy Holidays everyone!  See you in 2025!

Nov 2024 Card Chain Challenge Reveal

Today is the day we see all of the cards exchanged for the November Card Chain Challenge!  This time I sent my card to Hilary in the UK and I received a card from Joanne in CT.

This month I chose the color palette option of White on White on White!  (I pretty much did that with the exception of the dark starry sky in back of the Holy Family and soft  coloring with Copics on the animals in the foreground), the technique - Tunnel card and the Theme - Nativity!

I watched this YouTube Video to see how to make this Tunnel card.

by thepaperpixie.com  here's her blog post:

It measures 4 1/4" x4 1/4" and 1" deep

I used larger circle dies as I wanted the last one to be a large enough to show the Nativity.

I fussy cut around the animals stamping and adhered them onto the 2nd opening.  I lightly colored them with Copics.  I added Silver Star Confetti to the top corners on the outside.

I die cut the circle sentiment with 2 5/16" and 1 7/8" circle dies to fit around the last opening.  I added a circle of the dark starry sky DP on the back panel slightly larger than the last circle opening.  The silver stars were printed on the DP.  I die cut the Nativity, colored the halos with a Metallic Gold Sharpie and centered them on the DP inside the last circle.
Side and back view.
Showing how it will lay flat for mailing in a regular A2 envelope.

Inkspirational Challenge #330 - Mood Board

The newest challenge has just been posted over at Inkspirational - and it's a wonderful moodboard!

You can probably guess - I was inspired by the silver star, the brick background and the white village!

I used the Herringbone Parquet die for the background and dies from Christmas Time in the City for the buildings, tree and stars -  both from The Greetery.  The 3D star is from Vault Rosettes from Tim Holtz/Sizzix.  The sentiment is from Silent Night from Papertrey Ink (retired)

How are you inspired by the Moodboard?  We hope you will create a card and link it up over at Inkspirational - where you will also find lots of inspiration from the rest of the Design Team!

The linky closes on Dec 13!

Nov 2024 Group of Seven Textured Backgrounds with Die Cuts

This month, the Group of Seven Cardmakers are creating textured backgrounds using die cuts in tone on tone colors.  You will find links to several Videos using die cuts as backgrounds over at the GO7 blog.

I created two cards with the die I used - using positive and negative cuts.
I used 2 of the positive pieces of the die cut on top and bottom of this card.
I used white tone on tone.

I used the two negative cuts on my second card.
This is the die I used - Spring Floral from Pink Fresh -  it's a two part die, and the bottom piece shows how it looks with both dies used -  but I only used the top detail piece for the positive and negative pieces on my two cards, cutting it twice for each card.

My second attempt was to have a dark green card base layered with a stand of pine also in dark green which didn't look too great (!)

I added some splatter with white, black and orange POSCA pens and then a double layer of the pine trees but they still didn't show up very well -  so I lightly rubbed a Gold Pigment ink pad over the trees and  I liked the look - so this is a slight deviation from the original instructions for the technique - but here it is!

We hope you will check out the videos over at The Group of Seven Cardmakers blog as well as checking out what the rest of the GO7 did with this technique!  We'd love you to link up your card using this background technique!

Black and Red - Christmas in the City

Today I'm joining in with the Color Hues Challenge.

I used the Mid Mod City stamp from Claire Brennan Design stamped in black, adding a red Santa hat sticker from Jolee and 2 red enamel dots.  I made the sentiment on the computer.

I continued the black/red colors on the inside, using Arched Holiday Sentiments from The Greetery.
Claire's stamp set comes with a second stamp that adds color to the buildings - so I tried a second card inking that stamp in red and stamping over the black outline of the buildings.
I don't usually like to be told what colors to use - but this combo spoke to me!

Stamps: Mid Mod City - Claire Brennan Design, Arched Holiday Sentiments - The Greetery.
Paper: White - PTI
Ink: Nocturne - Versafine Clair, Ruby Red - Altenew
Other Supplies: Santa Hat Stickers - Jolee's, red and black enamel dots - Altenew, computer to type sentiment.
