CAS Christmas Mid Month reminder - Rainbow

I'm here with a reminder that you still have time to join the April CAS Christmas Challenge. You need to link your card by April 24th!  It's a tricky challenge -  hostess Trina wants us to think Rainbow and Christmas!

I used the colors of the rainbow to color this lovely stained glass stamp.  I embossed the image in gold and then colored the sections with Copics.  I die cut the image and popped it up on foam dots.
I die cut the frames with a beautiful new frame die set I recently purchased by MFT - Stitched Rectangle Scallop frames -  you can separate each frame and use it by itself or you can leave some together like I did here and create a beautiful multiple framing!  I took one frame off from the outside and two off from the inside here.

This shows the shine of the gold embossing and the lovely frame edge details.

So please show us how the rainbow inspires you in a Christmas card design!  You'll find lots of inspiration from the Design Team as well as our Guest Designer over at CAS Christmas.  You have through 4/24 to link up your card!

Tutorial for Easter Waterfall Photo Display

I'm back today with my tutorial for my Easter Photo Display that I first showed in Eileen Hull's Chapter 2 Design Team Blog hop last week.

These are the dies included in the Cards: Waterfall and Tags die set.

So here's a look at my completed project first.  I used Eileen's waterfall dies as well as her older Display Stand die.  The photos are from 2019 since we did not gather with my nieces and their children for 2020 or 2021 due to COVID!

This would be lovely with birthday, wedding, anniversary, or vacation photos as well!

Notice the cute carrot paper?! and fun bunny ears!

View from the back -  I added an extra scallop along the top of the stand in the back to make it look 'cleaner'!

Here's how I made it:
First I found the photos I wanted on my computer and resized them to 3 1/4" wide x 2 1/4" high, printed them on Cover Stock paper from Staples (slightly heavier than computer paper).  You could print them on photo paper as well.  Then I used the die with the set to cut them out.
I die cut the Display stand out of matboard and folded it up to make the stand (this die is just one piece!).
I die cut the waterfall base pieces out of white card stock.  I also cut a small scallop edge from Eileen's Gift Box Die out of matboard.
Because the 4 flips were a little too tall to fit on the panel of the Display Stand and still flip easily, I cut a piece of matboard 4 1/4" x 2 1/4" to put the waterfall on. I glued the scallop to the top edge of this matboard piece and then adhered the edges of the waterfall onto the panel, putting the first flip at the top and butting up each piece below the flap of the one above.
I cut pieces of patterned paper to cover the front and base of the stand as well as the waterfall pages and scallop, paying attention to any pattern that was directional.  I didn't have enough of the striped paper to go in the same direction, so two are horizontal and two are vertical but they are under the photos so you don't see much of it, and they are the same color so it's all matchy matchy.
Here are the completed pieces ready to put together
I added ScorTape to the back of the panel.
And pressed it onto the Display Stand.
I added die cut scallops from the Waterfall die set above each photo to fill in the white space.  I die cut the Easter (Waltzingmouse/retired) and 2019 (Alphanumeric/Sizzix) out of the same paper and adhered them along the bottom of the stand.

Such a fun way to remember and display a special day with just a few photos!

Eileen will have posts every Wednesday this month on her blog with projects by the Inspiration Team using her new Chapter 2 dies.  Be sure to check it out!

Let Life Surprise You

I've recently been watching Eileen Godwin's wonderful weekly YouTube videos using Lavinia Stamps and beautifully inked backgrounds.  I made this card using a few of the techniques she has taught on her videos.  My card design was also inspired by a card from this week's Featured Stamper over at SCS.

I started by masking the edges of a white card panel.  Then I sponged over the  Drifts and Hills Stencil from MFT using 3 different shades of blue Distress Inks (Broken China, Tumbled Glass and Speckled Egg) shifting the stencil around the panel and sponging the color off the edge of the stencil.
Then I placed the Pebble Stencil from Lavina over the panel and sponged lightly over just a part of the stencil.
I stamped the Eden fairy, the two Mushroom Lanterns and the Mini Stars 2 using Obsidian ink.
(I confess I had a little smudge of black on the tendrils of the fairies hair and stamped a star to cover the smudge!)
Then I stamped the sentiment from Tiny Text by Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous.
I die cut a circle out of acetate and used the circle itself as a mask, placing it over the head of the fairy and sponging around the edge of the circle mask which created a spot light around her head.
To finish off, I added Nuvo Crystal Drops in Gloss Simply White on her wings, the mushrooms and stars.

I'm linking my card to:

Blog Hop - Eileen Hull New Chapter 2 Sizzix Dies

Today Eileen Hull's Design Team members are having a blog hop highlighting her wonderful new Chapter Two Sizzix Dies!

I'm sharing two projects I made using her Card: Waterfall and Tags Die set, one project using her Bookbinding and Label Die Set and one super fun 3D Camper!

I used the tag dies from Card: Waterfall and Tags set for this project as well as two of Eileen's dies from past releases:  Folio Page  Pocket and Flowers, and Bookplate Hinges and Labels.
I made 3 sizes of pretty gift tags.
I will have a tutorial on how I put my tags together here on my blog in two weeks.
I used some beautiful shiny foiled papers from Rinea for my tags - layering the foil onto white card
The flowers are die cut out of Sculpting Foam from Sizzix and molded using a heat tool and molding tool.

Here's my 2nd project using the Waterfall Dies from Card: Waterfall and Tags set.   This time I made a waterfall of photos of my grandnephews and grandnieces from Easter 2019.  Such a fun way to display special photos!

My base is made from Eileen's Display Stand Die from a previous release and the scalloped edge along the top is from her Gift Box Scalloped Edge die

I will have a tutorial of how I put this together on a post here next week.
See all supplies listed below.

For my third project today, I used the Bookbinding and Label die inside a journal made using her older Passport Die!

The bookbinding die is a way for you to attach your pages inside a journal.
This is what it looks like - die cut, fan folded and glued.
I trimmed it down to just 3 ridges to fit the width of the binding in the Passport Journal,
and adhered it inside my journal along the binding piece.
Then I glued the binding to the front and back cover pieces.
Here's the front cover in.
I adhered two pages together along each ridge that sticks up.
There was enough room inside the journal to add a little notebook on the back cover.
These are my pages adhered to the bookbinding die cut.

Here's the outside of my Passport Garden themed journal.
I used a piece of soft black leather for the binding!
I will have a full tutorial of how I put this journal together on my blog here in a few weeks.
See all supplies listed below.

And finally, my happy little camper!  Views from both sides and the side where you can see the mints inside the little trailer!   This cute 3D camper box measures about 5 1/2" x 3 1/2".
I will have a tutorial on my blog in a few weeks.
See all supplies listed below.
