December CAS Mix Up Challenge - Emboss Resist

It's December 1st and the new CAS Mix Up Challenge is posted!  Loll is our hostess with the mostest this month and her challenge is Emboss Resist!
We also welcome  Guest Designer:  Bozena (ArtCardBox)
There are several links to emboss resist technique videos over on the challenge blog.
I used the Black Embossed Technique shown on this video:
Black Embossed Resist by Jennifer McGuire (9:08)
I had never seen this before and I love how it comes out!

I used Emboss Resist, stamping and layered die cuts.

I first stamped the holly leaves and berries in green and red inks onto a panel of white card.  Then I stamped over the images with Versamark ink and clear embossed them.  I colored over the panel with a black Tombow Marker, wiping the marker off the embossed images as I went along, until all the exposed white was black!
You can see the shimmer of the clear embossing in this photo (hopefully!)
Stamp set is Layered Holly from STAMPlorations, Pierced Feature Frames are from PTI.
I was so excited by the technique - I made a second card - this time stamping just 3 holly leaves and one set of berries - and I did the sentiment a little differently - fussy cutting around the top and placing it below the image.
and again a close up of the clear embossing
and a view of what I stamped inside both of my cards.

So please join us and show us how you will use Embossed Resist on your CAS card design!

Please note:  The December challenge will run Dec. 1 - 15 (instead of to Dec 24), to provide two weeks off for the Design Team members during a busy time of year.

Winning post will go live Dec. 18th over at the challenge blog

Thank you!

You'll find some great emboss resist inspiration from the team as well as our December Guest Designer:  Bozena (ArtCardBox), links to technique videos as well as Mr. Linky where you can link up your own CAS Emboss Resist cards at the CAS Mix Up Challenge Blog!

Julia, you've got fantastic results with this technique! The green holly leaves and the red berries shine against the black background. Love the modern-look and the color contrast! And you made a great variation!
It's sad that you're leaving, but I'm looking forward to your inspiring creations at CAS Stencil! So glad we're still in the CAS family.

Congrats on moving over to the new CAS Stencil team!
Your farewell card here is beautiful.
It’s done in traditional red/green colours, yet looks brilliantly contemporary with the black! xx

I love what you have achieved the final result by creating this card. So unique! I love how the white edges of some leaves and berries arose, it looks really great.

Wonderful CAS Christmas card - love the way you did the holly and then set it off with the frame.

This is the perfect technique for these stamps, Julia! I love how this black background gives a new, fresh take on the images. Very dramatic with the contrast and people will be wondering how you did it! :) I need to give this a try. Both cards are awesome, but do love the unique take on fussy-cutting your sentiment to be part of the border in the second card. Very creative. Will miss working with you at CAS Mix Up! ... but excited to be working with you at CAS Stencil. Can't wait until Jan. 4th! :) xx
