August CAS Mix Up Challenge - Alcohol Inks!

Welcome to the middle of the summer if you live in the Northern Hemisphere!  It's August 1st and there's a new challenge posted over at the CAS Mix Up Challenge!
This month, Design Team Member Nancy is our hostess and here is her challenge for us!
For my project today I used stamping, alcohol inks on acetate, a piece of white netting from a bag and a blue rhinestone.
First I cut a panel of acetate.  I pulled out my Alcohol Inks (AI's) and the stamps I wanted to use -  Beach Day from Technique Junkies and Sea Life from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous.
Since I was going with an ocean/beach theme I used Patina and Citrus AI's.

I used the technique shown on this video Alcohol Inks on Acetate by Kerrie
(there are several links to videos on different ways to use AI's over at the challenge blog)

I simply squeezed the two AI's onto a felt applicator and then pounced it over the acetate panel until it was completely covered and I liked the look of it.
If you pounce, you get this nice bubble look, if you drag the felt across the acetate it makes a smoother look.  It changes every time you go over it with the applicator so you can try different application techniques to see what you prefer!

The AI's dry very quickly on the acetate.  Once dry, turn the panel over (AI inked side down) and stamp your image onto the clean acetate side using StazOn Ink
(Be careful not to smudge as you press down on your stamp - it can be slippery on the acetate!) Luckily, if you make a mistake with the stamping, you can wipe it off with some rubbing alcohol on a piece of paper towel and try it again!

Once the stamping was dry, I adhered the acetate to a white panel using runner tape and then to a slightly larger black panel.  I placed a piece of a white netting bag (I think gem stones came in it?) under the panel extending it past the sides of the card edge for added interest.

I stamped my sentiment below the image and added a single rhinestone.

We hope you can join us this month as we play with Alcohol Inks - you will find lots of inspiration from the Design Team (and our Guest Designer Trina!) as well as links to 'how to' videos over at the CAS Mix Up Challenge blog.  You have until Aug 24th to link up your project!

I'm also linking my card to:

Beautiful AI bubbles, Julia! Love the shades of the greens. The black outlined seahorse and the white panel enhance the beauty of the gorgeous ocean background. The white netting is a creative addition to the card! Thank you so much for a lot of advice above. It'll help me when I try AIs. Hideko
