January Mixed Media Card Challenge - Theme: New

To see my Fusion Challenge post - please scroll down or click here.

Welcome to a 2015!  And the first Mixed Media Card Challenge of  the new year!  Here is the challenge for January.
And here is my interpretation of the challenge.  I even got some tissue in there -  can you spot it??!
I used my new Brusho Crystal Colors for the 'fireworks' background.  They are colored crystals and there are many ways to use them -  I sprinkled Ultra Marine, Yellow, Brilliant Red and Emerald Green onto my white card stock and then spritzed them with water and dried it with my heat tool - and POOF! they became fireworks!  Here's the first close up of the tissue - as a flag on the top of a building.  I describe it more below.
Then I sponged around all the edges with Black Soot Distress Ink to cover up all the white - and then masked off the center part and spritzed water over the black ink to create water spots.  I didn't want to get any more water on the Brusho colors as it would  water them down and blend all the colors together.  The more water you use on them - the more they blend.
I embossed the City Scape die cut with Frantage Aged Silver Embossing powder and layered them onto the card with foam tape.   And here is where I used the tissue paper -  I made tiny flags by die cutting some folded white tissue paper with the Fringe Border die from Memory Box.  Then I shook the same colors of Brusho Crystals I used on the card, over the fringe, spritzed with water just once, dried it with my heat tool and cut two small pieces off (with 3 'fringe' each)  I glued these little pieces onto the tops of two of the buildings as flags blowing in the wind.  I adhered 2 crystal rhinestones on the edge of each flag.
I used Idea-ology Label Letters for the sentiment.
I will use this either for a New Year's card - or a Birthday Card.

You have until 1/25 to link up your Mixed Media Card -  you will find all the details, some wonderful inspiration from the rest of the Design Team and the link over at the Mixed Media Card Challenge blog.  I can't wait to see what you create for the theme NEW - Optional Element: Tissue!
Mixed Media defined as using texture, dimension and techniques.

and to Darnell's NBUS challenge -  I've had the cityscape die for a year or so and this is the first time I've used it! (and it's just the 2nd time I've used the Brusho Crystals!)

Paper:  White, True Black - PTI, white tissue paper from stash
Ini:  Ranger Distress Black Soot, Versamark
Accessories:  Brusho Crystal Colors - Ultra Marine, Yellow, Brilliant Red, Emerald Green; Dies - City Scape - Paper Smooches, Fringe Border - Memory Box, Mini Mister - Ranger, Label Letters- Ideaology, Frantage Aged Silver Embossing Powder - Stampendous.

Wow, you must be an ancestor of Betsy Ross to work that much detail into your flags. They certainly are eye-catching yet I didn't think about them being tissue paper. Awesome card!
