Waltzingmouse Feb Release Day - Design Team Blog Waltz!

WELCOME to the Waltzingmouse February Release Day! When we also have our Design Team Blog Waltz!

We are showing sneak peeks of the final two sets in the release - Paris Nouveau and Labels 25 (yes - the stamps fit the new Labels 25 Nestabilities!).

You should start the Blog Waltz at Claire's (she has the complete list in case you get lost along the way!)

If you came here from Sandie's blog you are in the right place!

For my first card I used the wonderful Eiffel Tower from Paris Nouveau. I can just imagine living near the tower and having this beautiful view from my window!   It certainly would be 'ohh-la-la'!!  - this sentiment is from the Compact Sentiments set.
I love to read ( REAL paper books although I do have a Kindle Fire!) so I was happy to see this "from the library of'' stamp in the Paris Nouveau set!   A reader can never have enough book marks!

I paired it with the journaling stamp from last years set - Victorian Frippery stamping them both on a shipping tag and sponging the edges with 3 shades of purple Distress Inks. I could write my name on one of the lines, write notes about a particular book, include it in a book I lend to someone so they remember who to return it to!  I layered it to a black panel and looped two colors of wrinkled seam tape through the hole at the top.  I kept it CAS to fit neatly between the book pages.
I silver embossed this fun stamp from the Make Your Mark set on the back!
And here's my final card for the new release - using  the larger bold herringbone stamp from Heirloom Patterns, one of the label stamps from Vintage Labels 25 and a sentiment from Compact Sentiments!
I love how the orange and blue make this look so bold and sassy!

Ok - that's it from me - Phew - what a lot of stamping I've been doing the past 4 days!

Next on the Blog Waltz is  Laurie who I'm sure has a wonderful creation to inspire you!

Be sure to leave comments on each blog as you waltz -  a random winner will be chosen from one of our blogs to win a WMS stamp set of choice.   You have until Saturday, March 3rd 6:59 am EST to leave your comments!  The winner will be  posted on Claire's blog on Sunday March 4th

AND  - you are now free to shop the new release at the Waltzingmouse Web Store!

No Matter Where you Go

If you're looking for my WMS Sneak Peek Day #3 please scroll down just a tad to the post below - Thank you!

Today's my day for posting at the Stampin' Sisterhood Tuesday's with the Team.

I'd really appreciate your dropping over there to see my card!

Waltzingmouse Sneak Peek Day #3 - How to Make an Heirloom

Hey stampers!  I'm so glad you are back for the WMS February Release Day #3 sneak peek!  Today we have a very special set to share - one that was designed by our VERY OWN Anya Schrier!  Anya, who is the queen of backgrounds, has created a wonderful background set called Heirloom Patterns.

We are also showing a terrific new sentiment set called Compact Sentiments (we can NEVER have enough sentiments - right ladies?!)

First I want to share a pretty little muslin bag that I stamped with two of the background patterns in Heirloom Patterns.  A diamond pattern and a dotted line pattern - I hope can you see them on this close up?
I made these funky little flowers out of a strip of felt and two Memory Box Dies -  Fringe Border and Tender Leaves.

Here's a quick pic of how I made these -  die cut the fringe border (I use a metal shim in my Cuttlebug sandwich when I'm cutting through thick material)  Adhere a piece of ScorTape on the bottom of the fringe.  Stick a toothpick on one end and roll it up -  that's it!! (remove the toothpick carefully when you're done!)
When I stamp on material -  I place a foam sheet under it -  in this case I cut the foam to slightly smaller than the 5" x 6" size of the muslin bag and slipped it inside.  This cushions when you stamp on the material so you get a good image It also protects the back side in case the ink you use bleeds through.. Stamping on muslin does tend to come out lighter than stamping on paper.  Here's my bag as I was working on it with the foam tucked inside.
I adhered the flowers to my bag with glue dots -  none of my million containers of glue said you could use it on cloth (!!??) so I'm trying the glue dots and will also check out Michaels for a cloth glue for the future!!  I'm going to throw this bag around a little to 'factory test' whether the flowers stay on!!!!  LOL!!

Here's the bag flattened out so you can see the patterns.
And here it is filled with goodies - like these Girl Scout Cookie Thin Mints -  which aren't going to last much longer than it takes me to type this post (!!!)  They are sitting on a glassine bag that I would have put them in to go inside the bag to give to someone....
Ok - now we move on to  3 cards I made with these wonderful sets.

I used the herringbone background from Heirloom Patterns on the first two of my cards today -  I stamped it in black for this wedding card - using the wedding sentiment from Compact Sentiments.  I cut the sentiment with Labels 20 Nestabilities, adhered it over the herringbone pattern with foam tape and then added graduated black pearls on each side.  I adhered the panel onto my card base with foam tape.  Clean and elegant, don't you think?
For my second card - I used the cut out piece left when I die cut my sentiment above!  First I stamped the herringbone pattern in blue ink on the blue card base (so it's rather subtle), then layered the white die cut negative (that I embossed with Swiss Dots) over the card base after tying the wrinkled seam tape around it.
Here's the back of my card where I stamped yet another of the fun 'handmade' stamps from the Make Your Mark set!  There's that cute waltzing mouse again!!
And for my 3rd card today I again used the dotted lines background stamp from Heirloom Patterns as well as some stamps from Paris Nouveau - one of the sets we'll be sneak peeking tomorrow!   All of the sets in this release work together so well!
I thought this background stamp gave the idea of the streets around the Eiffel Tower.(I found this photo on line!)

I cut out and popped up the tower and added Tiny Twinkles to the sentiment, the pinacle of the tower and the sprig.  I sponged all the edges with Antique Linen. I layered it to a piece of plum card stock that matched the inkings but it looks black in the pic (?!)

AND - I used this week's WMS Sketch for my card !

Phew!   One last time - we're off to check out what the rest of the Waltzingmouse Design Team  has to inspire us with!

Tomorrow we'll have Sneak Peeks of two more sets during our WMS Blog Waltz and ALL of the sets will be available for purchase at Waltzingmouse Stamps - hope you have your 'got to have it' list ready!

The Waltz starts a little later so Claire has time to set up the store -  my post will go live Wednesday at 2 pm EST.

Waltzingmouse Sneak Peek Day #2 - Tulips and Tea

Welcome to Day #2 of the Waltzingmouse February Release Sneak Peeks - Did you enjoy all of the Design Team's offerings yesterday as much as me?   And thank you for all the lovely comments you left here!

Today we are using stamps from Nordic Spring (remember the Nordic Winter set?!) and Florentine Frippery.

I used Claire's new Angle Top Label Box (another freebie at the WMS shop!) for my tea bag box  - but I left off the cover - making mine an open container.  I left the back piece on so it extended above the box as a backing for my butterfly.   The Good Morning Sentiment is from yesterday's French Country Set.  I die cut it with a Mega Rectangles Nestabilities and adhered it to one wing of the butterfly with foam tape.
The butterfly, little heart and row of tulips are from Nordic Spring.
Here's a pic of how I stamped the sides
and a pic of the pieces I cut to line the box.  The blue back piece is 2 5/8 x 3 3/4, the side pieces are 2 5/8 x 2 3/8 (angle cut down to 1 3/8) the bottom piece is 2 5/8 x2 5/8 and the front piece is 2 5/8 x 1 1/2 (each piece had to be trimmed a tad - so, if you do this, place each piece inside to check the fit before adhering!)

I inked the beautiful butterfly with 3 different shades of blue.  The grass is die cut from green tissue paper.  I die cut a coaster from Labels 16 Nestabilities for the base, covering the top with patterned paper and stamping this handmade stamp from yesterday's sneak peeked set Make Your Mark
I also made a coordinating card for my tea box using the tulips from Nordic Spring and the Bonjour (hello, good morning, good day) stamp from yesterday's French Country
Here's what I stamped on the back of my card -  from Make Your Mark
 and here's the set together!
The 2nd set being sneak peeked today is Florentine Frippery.  I made a thank you card using a label stamp, one of the sentiment stamps and a strip background stamp from this beautifully decorative set.
I stamped the label which fits the new Spellbinders Labels 25 - but since I don't have these I just cut it out with my trusty scissors!  After stamping the background on white and layering it to a black panel, I tied the wrinkled seam tape around the panels and then adhered the label over the ribbon with foam tape.  All the edges are sponged with Antique Linen ink.  I love the old fashioned formal wording of the sentiments in this set!

That's it from me today!

So off we go to check out the wonderful creations the rest of the WMS Design Team has created for today's Sneak Peeks!  Hope you can come by again tomorrow for Day #3!

Sisterhood Sundays - A Sketch with Hannah

If you are looking for my WMS Sneak Peek Day 1 posting - please scroll down!

It's Sunday and time for the Stampin' Sisterhood Sunday Challenge!  This week we have a sketch to inspire us.
And here is my card:
This is Hannah - a sweet vintage image.  I stamped the image with Archival Coffee ink and colored a little bit of it with Copics.  The patterned papers are Webster's Pages.  I die cut the circle with a Floral Doily Motif Nestability and tied wrinkled seam tape in a double bow around the panels.

Please check out the Stampin' Sisterhood Blog for all the details and to link up your creation using the sketch.   You may win some Rubbernecker Stamps!

WMS Sneak Peek Day 1 - Chanticleer Roost

Welcome to Day 1 of the Waltzingmouse February Release Sneak Peeks!  Claire is releasing 9 exciting sets on Wed, Feb 29th.  Today the Design Team is highlighting French Country, Chicken Wire and Make Your Mark.

There is a wonderful rooster (chanticleer - en Francais!) in the French Country Set.  I thought it would be fun to make a roost for the rooster  - which made me think of Claire's cute little house template (a freebie in the WMS store!)  After cutting out the template - I stamped the house with the smaller chicken wire background from the Chicken Wire set.  I cheated a little (oops!) and used one of the stamps from Heirloom Patterns for my roof (that set will be sneak peeked on Tuesday!)

I added some grass cut with a die out of tissue paper - first adhering one layer and then adding a second layer using a strip of foam tape to give the grass depth!

Here's the back of my little rooster roost - I cheated once again - using a stamp (Merci) from the Paris Nouveau set that we will be sneak peeking on Wednesday.

These sweet little mushrooms are made by Meiji and they are called Chocorooms - the stem is a little cracker and the top is chocolate - and they are YUM!!  I buy them at a local discount shop called Five Below (everything's less than $5)  They cost $1.99 for a box of 30.  Aren't they just SO cute?!

I applied a thick layer of Rock Candy Ranger Distress Crackle Paint to my rooster on the front
and my Merci (thank you - en Francais) on the back.  After the crackle paint dried - I sponged over it with Antique Linen to accent the cracks.

I didn't seal up the bottom so my little roost could be opened -  That's also why I tied the narrow silk ribbon around the house - just to be sure the treats inside didn't fall out accidentally!

Here is the roost opened up to reveal the treats!

And here is the bottom closed up - where you will see just one of the cute stamps in the Make Your Mark set.  I'm SO excited to finally have the sweet little Waltzingmouse Mascot on a stamp (even if he is attached to a signature box)! I'm thinking I'll mask the rest of the stamp and stamp this little guy by himself on a card sometime!
So there you go -  my little Chanticleer Roost treat box!

And I just had to make a card with this beautiful lacy border stamp French Country. I used Blue Danube Ink on the white card - typical French Country colors!  Can you see all the wonderful detail on this lovely stamp?!
Both sentiments,  je t'aime (I love you ) on the front and  bon anniversaire (Happy Anniversary) on the inside are from French Country -  the heart is from Make Your Mark (I stamped 2 of them overlapping)
And here's what I stamped on the back of my card - another stamp from Make Your Mark - notice the heart is on this stamp as well as being a stamp by itself in this set.

Sorry I kept you so long with all my photos!

Now let's all go check out the wonderful work of the rest of the Design Team using the Sneak Peek sets - French Country, Chicken Wire and Make Your Mark!

The Dust of Everyday Life

Phew!  I have been stamping practically non stop this long weekend -  mostly stuff I can't share - yet!  Starting Saturday - I'll be posting every day through the end of the month so I hope you'll stop by!

But for now -  here's a card I made for the Inspiration Challenge over on Split Coast.

I was inspired by these house Wallies  from the Wall Paper site Stef showed us.

They reminded me of my brandy-new Memory Box die - Country House. I cut the house in gray and in terracotta tile piecing the roof and door with the tile color. I drew lines for the shingles with a Copic. The door and windows on this house actually fold open so I added harvest gold paper behind the windows so you could see the 'lights' on in the home!

My only stamping here is the music behind the house which is from the set Musical Backgrounds by Waltzingmouse.  I sponged clouds in the sky with a home made cloud template.

The sentiment is computer generated and I cut it in a banner shape adhering it with foam tape and extending it off the card. My card is 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" so it will still fit in a regular A2 envelope.

Thanks so much for coming by today!

Stamps: Waltzingmouse - Musical Backgrounds, computer generated sentiment
Paper: white, terracotta tile, spring rain, harvest gold - PTI, Basic Grey - SU
Ink: Memento London Fog, Soft Sky - SU
Accessories: foam tape, country house die - Memory Box, home made cloud template, rhinestones - Kaiser, computer generated sentiment, Copics - YR23, YR24

WMS Blog Party - Spring has Sprung

Hey friends!  Today I'm participating in the Waltzingmouse Blog Party - held the 17th of each month.  This month's theme is Looking Forward to Spring.

Flowers are definitely a harbinger of spring so that's what I used on my card today - cutting them out of bright colors of card stock and layering them over a black and white dotted background to make them POP!

My colorful roses are from the Roses in Bloom set and the spring sentiment is from Spring Baskets.  I embossed the roses and leaves in black, cut them out and sponged the edges in coordinating colors of distress inks to deepen the colors a bit.  I popped up two of the roses on foam tape and added rhinestones to the centers.  My card is 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" so it will still fit in an A2 envelope even with the leaves sticking out over the edge of the card!

We hope you are joining us at the WMS Blog Party this month!!

You'll find all the wonderful spring cards linked up over at the Waltzingmouse Blog here starting at 1:30 pm EST and you must link your card there by 1:30 pm EST on 2/18!  (Claire has extended the cut off time!)

And don't forget - 3 days of sneak peeks of the February WMS release start on Sunday 2/26 with the release on Wed 2/29!

Stamps:  Roses in Bloom, Spring Baskets - Waltzingmouse
Paper:  White, Lavender Moon, Berry Sorbet, Simply Chartreuse,  Text Style Bitty Dot Basics 2008 - PTI

Blushing Paris & Courage

I made this card for two challenges - the sketch challenge over at Split Coast and this week's Color Throwdown.

I stamped a collage of images over a stamped wire grid background - all my stamps are from Rubbernecker  I popped up the layered mat stacks on foam tape and added some Tiny Twinkles for a little glitter!

My second card was made for this weeks Split Coast Color Challenge - Night of Navy, Bashful Blue and Crumb Cake.

My card is almost a no layer card (just one layer color framing!) I stamped the corner garden in Night of Navy ink on a white panel. Then I masked a circle in the top corner and sponged the blue sky with Tumbled Glass. I removed the mask and sponged over the ground and the moon with Frayed Burlap - I wanted it to be a kind of stormy night to go with the sentiment.  I layered the image to a panel of Night of Navy and then onto a white card. I added pale blue rhinestones to a few flower centers. Then I stamped the sentiment directly on the card.  The corner garden and sentiment are from  Rubbernecker

I'll be back on Friday with my WMS Blog Party card -  hope you're joining in and that you'll stop by to see my card!

Make a Wish

Hi stampers!  I made today's card for the CAS-ual Fridays challenge - clean and simple paper piecing.
First, I stamped this adorable fairy by The Craft's Meow directly on the card with Memento London Fog ink.  I liked the softer tone of the grey rather than stamping it in black.

Then I paper pieced the wings and dress - stamping those parts on dotted patterned papers, cutting them out and adhering them over the stamped image.

Keeping it CAS - i just added two Tiny Twinkles and drew a line across the top and bottom of the card with a silver pen to define the visual field.  I was going to frame all four sides - but I did the top and bottom first and I liked how it looked - so I left it at that!!

Thanks for coming by today! I'd love for you to leave me a comment so I can come and see you!

Stamps:  Butterfly Kisses - The Craft's Meow
Paper:  White, Text Style 2008 Bitty Dot Basics - PTI
Ink:  Memento London Fog
Accessories:  silver pen - Creative Memories, Tiny Twinkles - Taylored Expressions
