Spellbinders has come out with some wonderful new Grand Dies that are just perfect for making shaped books, photo albums, cards and scrap book pages. So, of course, they also had to design a machine that would cut these larger dies! And here it is - the Grand Calibur!!!
Due to Waltzingmouse Stamps' cross promotional partnership with Spellbinders the WMS Design Team were all gifted with a Grand Calibur! whoo hoo!! We thought this was an excellent time to showcase Spellbinders and how well they work with Waltzingmouse Stamps!
And of course prizes and a competition are involved! Just pop over to the Waltzingmouse blog for all the details and links to those who are posting projects each day.
For several years I was an avid scrapbooker - but then card stamping became my addiction and since my only son is grown I kind of left it behind.
BUT........now I have an adorable little grandnephew who needs his life documented!!! so the Grand Calibur and the Grand Dies came along at just the right time for me!
Today I have two 8"x8" scrapbook pages to share with you! One using a photograph from Christmas and one from New Year's Eve! (we already have hundreds of pics of Landon and he's only 4 months old!! LOL!)
My stamps are all from Waltzingmouse and the dies are all Spellbinders. All supplies are listed at the end of my post with links to the stamps and dies.
I just love this photo of Landon laughing with his new found friend, Santa Claus (who dances and plays music when you squeeze his hand)!
And since it's Saturday I incorporated the WMS sketch into my page - I flipped it on it's side up there on the left! See it??? Check out the WMS Sketch blog for more info on the sketch challenge!
My next page is of Landon on New Year's Eve. Now there's a story that goes with this -
Every New Year's Eve my sister, Marcia, would dress her two baby girls (Katie and Chrstie) like this (ie - just a diaper and a sign with the new year written on it!) They would wear sparkly hats and have a happy time ringing in the new year. So, of course Katie, Landon's mum, is continuing this fun tradition!! And doesn't Landon look like he's having a great celebration on his very first New Year's Eve!
Here I've laid out all of the Spellbinder dies that I used on my two pages so you can see the comparative sizes. The large Labels One, Circle and Square are from the new Grand Dies.
There is a rubber suction pad on the bottom of the machine and when you turn this white lever, it makes it stick to your smooth surface so it doesn't move when you are using it.
It comes with three plates - a grey (A) base plate, a pink (B) embossing plate with a rubber mat, and a white (C) cutting plate.
When not in use, I'm storing my Grand Calibur on a shelf in my craft room, along with the plates and the Grand Dies that I have so far.
I had this large plastic storage box with white pages that is working perfectly to store my Grand Dies - I use magnet strips to hold them to the pages. I purchased it here.
Folks who purchase anything over at Waltzingmouse Stamps during this 3-day event (1/21/11 - 1/23/11) will be entered into a drawing. One lucky person will be randomly picked at the end of the 3 days to receive their shopping basket free!
There will be one random winner per day from comments left on one of the DT blogs so you have 3 chances to win!
And finally! there will be a challenge on the WMS blog at the end of the event. Folks are invited to CASE a card/project from the 3 days. You'll have one week to link your entries to the WMS blog post and then Claire or Lisa will pick a random winner for a prize! whoo hoo!
Phew! this was a long post! thanks for sticking with me!!

Awesome projects today and the New Year baby is a doll. By the end of the weekend I am going to be so green with envy at those who have the grand calibur. Can't wait to see what I look like on Monday.
What a surprise-- Haven't "blurfed" too much lately, then when I do, you have this adorable BABY in a lot of your posts. So I come around today and there he is again, and HE is showcasing your newest toy,er TOOL.
Love the versatility for stampers and scrapbookers alike.
Love your examples Julia, more inspiration for an item that is already at the top of my "must have" list.
Also like how you have demo'ed the 'context' of the GC in the workroom-- in use and in storage.
For some reason I had it stuck in my mind that I could use the Grand Caliber for making nicely shaped cards.
It simply hadn't occurred to me that it would be a fab addition to any scrapbookers toolkit - duh!?
Thanks for showing off your Landon, and btw I really like the whole idea behind the second page. Traditions can be so wonderful...
