A Sweet Orange Bling

I made this card for the August Fan Club Dirt Pile challenge. This challenge was to use bling on your card! You can join in too if you are a member of the Fan Club over on Split Coast.I cut my card with circle nestabilities and embossed it with the Little Bubbles Cuttlebug folder to look like an orange to go along with my new image from Artful Inkables. I like making round cards now and then just for something different!

I sponged the orange and white card stock with So Saffron Ink to give it a little dimension. I only stamped the 'sweet' part of the sentiment for this card (the stamp says 'Orange you sweet'). I punched it out with a circle punch, layered it to a Wild Wasabi circle and added the green jewel brad. The image and sentiment are up on foam dimensionals. I tied the Amuse ribbon arond the fold between the orange and white panels.

I colored the image with some copics and added a dew drop and Dazzling Diamonds. Here's a close up view of the image.A fun summer card don't you think? This would be a fun invitation to a cocktail party!

Sporting a Tee

Stef showed us some fun swimwear for the Inspiration challenge on Split Coast. I chose this piece to be inspired by: I was up watching the Olympics so I had sports on my mind and thought I could use my new Gina K Designs T shirt stamp for this challenge.

My card is 4 1/4 square. I stamped the T shirt right on the designer paper (which I thought matched the swim suit pretty well!) - cut it out and attached it to the cuttled panel with foam dimensionals. I cut the sentiment with a Spellbinders Tag trio die and laced my stitched ribbon through it. I added a little shimmer to the card with the dew drops on the corners and I dressed up the T a little with the felt flower and a blue brad.

And now that I got my challenge card done - I'm off to bed - see you tomorrow everyone!

A Silent Snowman

My card today is for the Limited Supplies challenge over at Split Coast - to use a snowman on your card. Hostess Jeanne S thought it would help us forget about the summer heat if we pulled out a snowman stamp! I got out this Silent Night Snowman from Stupendous that I've had for a couple of years and often use on Christmas cards.

I matched him up to this perfect designer paper from the Die Cuts With a View Christmas Stack. The paper is actually a 12x12 sheet for a scrapbook page with reindeer jumping around on this snowy field but I just used this plain corner of it for my card. I liked the way it has a ground area to set my snowman on.

I colored the snowman with my copics (thanks to yesterday's SCS challenge to use Copics! See my Thomas Kinkade card below on yesterday's post) and watercolored the sky on the image using re-inker and my aquapainter. I added a dew drop over the star.

I liked the simplicity of this scene - so I just added the dotted ribbon under the panel and dotted some stickles over the snow in the sky (which you can't really see in the picture!)

A fun cool challenge on a hot summer day! and I got one Christmas card done - yay! - now only about 49 more to go!!!

A Double Dare, Two Dogs, and Trying Copics!

I have 3 cards to share with you today - I was so busy this week doing Sneak Peeks for Artful Inkables that my other cards have been piling up!!

I made this 5" x 5" card for the weekly Double Dare Challenge I do with a group of SCS friends. This week I was the hostess and I sent everyone 2 Magnolia stamped images (an Edwin and a Tilda) and they had to pick one and use it on their card. I chose Edwin the skier for my card.

I colored him with Prismacolor markers and used Copics for his face. I added punched photo corners that I embossed with the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder then topped with dew drops. The Let It Snow is a silver sticky strip by Stampendous. I had the acrylic word sticker in my stash and don't remember where it came from (!) - there are 7 or 8 of them with different words or snowflakes - all in white and blue. This is the first time I've used one of them!

I made this b'day card for my future daughter-in-law, April - who's birthday was 8/10. She was away visiting her mother in NC on her birthday so I will give her this when she gets back.She and my son have 2 bassett hounds and so I'm always looking for anything with basset hounds on it.

This cute puppies image was a RAK from Mrs. Noodles over at SCS (thank you Dina!). The middle puppy is a basset hound. The fun sentiment and puppy stamp are both by Inkadinkado - the paw print with the heart in it is part of a new stamp set called Top Dog by Artful INKables

And these are the real thing - my 'grandchildren' (!) 7 month old Roscoe and 4 year old Daisy - and yes - the 7 month 0ld is already bigger than the 4 year old! (Trouble - right here in River City!)

Here is my card for the Ways to Use It Challenge at Split Coast - to use Copic markers to color an image on a card. I have about a dozen copics but haven't used them much yet not having a lot of colors - I usually use my Prismacolor markers and don't do a lot of shading. So my image today is colored with a combination of both kinds. I was quite surprised and thrilled with how the coloring came out - I have had this Kinkade stamp for ages - but have only previously stamped it monochrome - afraid to attempt coloring it. And for my first try I think it came out well - and will only improve as I practice and get more colors!

Here's a close up of the colored image. For some reason the colors look a little bright here - it's more subdued IRL!

I'm Coco-Nuts About YOU!

I'm excited to say that I was the one who suggested to Kristin that this sentiment might be fun to go with this set!!! and she agreed and had it made up! Yikes - how fun is that!!! Kristin always asks us INK Girls (the Design Team!) for our input and she does value our opinions!


So - on this card - I first stamped the coconut tree on the card stock and colored it in with re-inkers and my aquapainter. Then I stamped the image again on a white scrap - colored just the leaves - cut out some of them and layered them over the original image using foam dimensionals. This gave it a fun 3 dimensional look don't you think?? Then I added the dew drops to look like - well....... actual dew drops on the leaves ....... as if this tropical island had just had a refreshing rain fall!
The sentiment was cut with a Spellbinders Tag Trio die and popped up on foam dimensionals. I stamped the separate leaf stamp that is in this set - colored it and attached it on the side of the tag.

To finish it all off and add a little bright color - I tied this fun ribbon from Michaels around the top.

Olive You - Artful INKable Sneak Peek #4 and a Challenge!

I'm so excited to show you this beautiful stamp from the Olive You stamp set from Artful INKables that will be released along with 3 other fun new sets tomorrow!

This card is my Sneak Peek #4 as well as my Design Team Challenge card - to use some kind of beverage stamp on a card. (see how you can join in on this challenge at the end of my post!)

The Olive You comes with 4 images and 4 sentiments. Today I'm highlighting this lovely bottle of 100% Virgin Olive Oil (as the medallion on it's neck says) nestled in an olive branch along with the Bon Appetite sentiment! This stamp would be so fun on the cover of a recipe book or a recipe card that uses olives or olive oil!

All of Kristin's stamps are deeply etched red rubber and stamp beautifully! They are already cut and mounted on cling foam and come in a clear CD package - ready for you to pop them on you acrylic block and start using!

I started by cutting two panels of the pretty Basic Grey designer paper and layering them onto green textured paper by Bazzill. Then I stitched around the edges with my sewing maching. I sponged all the edges with Old Olive ink (how appropriate!) and distressed them and attached the panels to my white card.

I stamped the image on white card stock and cut it out using my oval nestabilities and Cuttlebug. Then I had fun coloring it in with my Prismacolor markers. I paper pierced the top 3/4's of the oval.

I punched on either side with my slit punch and wove the ribbon behind the image and around the panel.

Then I stamped the sentiment on a white scrap, punched it with my oval punch and mounted it on a rectangle of Bazzill Green. I attached it to the card with foam dimensionals.


I really like how this came out with the colors and designer paper - it makes me think of a cafe in Greece where they might have this bottle on the table during meals!

Bad to the Bone - Artful INKables Sneak Peek #3

I stamped the little bone stamp from this set randomly on the bag with caramel ink - then stamped one on a scrap with Espresso, cut it out and layered it onto the sentiment with foam adhesive.

You can hardly tell from the amount that's showing - but the designer paper behind the puppy has paw prints and dog bones on it! I used my rectangle Nestabilities to cut the image and DP.

I stamped the sentiment on Naturals Ivory card stock then cut and embossed it using my Spellbinders ribbon tag trio die. I threaded the brown gingham ribbon through the tag, put foam adhesive on the tag and tied the ribbon around the back of the bag.

And there you have a fun little gift for a canine friend or for your next craft sale!
