Snowing Down on the Snowman

I got this idea from a card over at Splitcoast stampers by Ubetcha.   The snowman is mounted on a clear acetate card.  I used a different hat and face, than Ubetcha , as well as different twig arms and different size circles.

I put the same size circle as the base of the snowman, on the inside,  where I stamped my sentiment and there is a little room to write a note to the receiver -  you could add another circle on the back of the card or on the inside over the back of the snowman.  I used glue dots to adhere the circles to the acetate.

Inkspirational #321 - Woodland

Here is my DT card for Inkspirational #321 challenge -  Woodland.

Woodland made me think of snowy Christmas in the woods!

I die cut the dome out of a  lovely piece of DP from Charlie and Paulchen showing these children enjoying the snowy woodlands.  I die cut the snow globe base out of a piece of woodgrain DP and the little sliver between the globe and base is die cut out of Brushed Silver.

I also die cut the globe out of clear acetate and layered it over the image with little glue dots in the bottom corners and top center (that do show a bit!).   I added three little 'snowflakes' over the acetate.

The snow globe is layered over the background DP with foam dots.  The sentiment is a Small Talk Sticker.

How does the word Woodland inspire you?   Please show us by linking your creation up over at Inkspirational!  You have until 8/9!

Snow Globe Snowman in Pink

Today I'm joining in on  The Color Hues Challenge #89

And here's my card - oddly enough, a Christmas card, even though we just had 3 days of 90 degree weather!  But I do need to get those Christmas cards done!

The snowman and flower star are vellum stickers from Taperlogy - with the sage holly and mitten, and pink scarf, hat and star flower.   I embossed the background using a newly purchased embossing folder Sprinkle Snow Globe from Simon Says Stamp.  The stickers are up on foam dots.

Warming Up Chilly and Freezy

Trying to get as many cards made as I can before Friday's deadline for the 2023 Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!

Once again, I used these fun Paper Cut Cafe dies, this time with Chilly and Freezy, a December 2022 special release stamp set. I die cut a snowy grounding for them using Deckle Hills Die from Rubbernecker.

You will notice they are holding the hot mug of cocoa/coffee with their stick hands so it doesn't melt their bodies!

There are lots of prizes to be won at the Coffee Lovers Blog Hop - chosen randomly by Linky entry # but you have to link up by Friday 11/10!  Check it out here.

Inkspirational Challenge #301 Cold Enough to Snow

The latest Inkspirational Challenge - #301 - has just been posted.  It's a word prompt - COLD!

Although I don't want it to be too cold outside yet, I am in Christmas card mode so here is the DT card I created for the challenge - A cold snowy scene!

It's a one layer 'sort of CAS' if you count the blue background as open space??!!  But that's not the challenge - it just has to be COLD!

I simply sponged the white panel with Ranger Distress inks in Starry Sky (from the bottom of the panel up to the top of the image) and the darker blue, Faded Jeans (from above the image up to the top or the panel).  Then splattered water with my fingertips over the top of the panel to create a snowfall.

The image is from the Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Set - Holiday Sketch Book.  An easy card to make multiples of!

You have through 11/3 to link up your COLD card!
Find lots of inspiration from the rest of the DT and Mr. Linky at the Inkspirational Blog!

Inkspirational #293 - Word Prompt - Christmas in July

Hello friends! The newest Inkspirational Challenge is up and it's a Word Prompt.

So, I'm sure the prompt means you can make a traditional winter Christmas Card but since I have a friend that now lives in Florida - I thought I'd make it a beach/hot weather theme Christmas and I'll send this card to her!

I love this melting snowman die from Poppy Stamps and he was the perfect thing for my hot beach scene.  I'm glad we caught him before he was just a puddle!
The palm tree stamp is from My Island set by Waltzingmouse (retired).
The Christmas bulbs on the palm tree are a die set called Tree Rex from Cherry Lynn Designs (they actually string around a dinosaur die, really cute!).
The background is DP of sand and sky.  I framed the scene with metallic green frame cut with a die from Rubbernecker.  I die cut the sentiment with a circle and layered it over a die cut sun up on foam dots and overlapping the frame.

So, how will you interpret Christmas in July!  We can't wait to see!
You'll find more inspiration from the rest of the Design Team as well as the link to add your cards over at Inkspirational!

You have until July 14th to link up!

June CAS Christmas Card Challenge - Snowmen!

It's Summer here in MA, sunny, warm and the gardens are growing!!

What better time to make Snowman cards for the June CAS Christmas Card Challenge!  Hideko is our wonderfully creative Hostess this month and she wants to see Frosty!

Here's the card I made.

I love making shaped cards, so my snowman card IS a snowman!

I die cut two snowmen, one out of watercolor paper (for sturdiness) to use as the back of the card and one out of white glitter cardstock for the front of the card. I glued the two snowmen together at the top of the hat. Then I used a PEACE Movers and Shapers die to cut the piece out of his belly and backed that section of his body with a piece of blue glitter cardstock so you could really see the message!

These are really older Tim Holtz dies but you may find them still on Amazon or Ebay?

I also cut the hat part of the snowman out of the blue glitter, trimmed it and glued it over the base snowman.  I die cut the holly leaf with another Movers and Shapers die and adhered it to his hat.  I tied a piece of wrinkled seam tape around his neck just on the front snowman.  I added black enamel dots for the eye and buttons.

I cut a tiny bit off his 'botttom' so it was straight across and he would stand up and not roll over!

Here's a look from the side showing him standing.
And from the back where you can see how I glued the blue sparkle piece on the inside of the front to show around the PEACE.

So please join us and show us your CAS frosty Snowmen!  You'll find the challenge details, Mr. Linky, and lots of inspiration from the Design Team as well as our talented Guest Designer, Steph, over at
the CAS Christmas Card Challenge blog!

Eileen Hull's New Snowman Box Die - On a Notebook Journal!

For the month of July, Eileen Hull's Inspiration Team has been sharing their creations using Eileen's newly released dies - Snowman Box and Mitten Box.
Today I'm using the Snowman Box - but not the box part!  I'm using him on the cover of my journal - made using Eileen's Notebook Die and some fun Belagio Cork Fabric.
Here's a view of the back cover.
I adhered sheets of ScorTape to the black chipboard and then adhered the golden cork fabric to the matboard.  I die cut the Notebook cover from this piece.
I added the double sided adhesive to another piece of black matboard and adhered a piece of Belagio black and silver Cork Fabric to it , die cutting the Snowman pieces out of this piece.
You can see that the the scored binding goes through both the matboard and the cork fabric and it bends easily.
I put the snowman together, cutting his nose from the Snowman die and two of a little flower die from Eileen's Floral Arch and Words thinlits Die out of the gold Cork Fabric - using the flowers on his hat and scarf.
I die cut 12 pieces of winter patterned paper using Eileen's Credit Card Sleeve and Tags Thinlits Die set to use on the pages of my journal.
To make the pages in my journal, I cut 6 pieces of watercolor paper 7" x 4 3/4", scored at 3 1/2" on the 7" side making 2 signatures of 6 pages.
I stamped different snow/winter sentiments on each page.

Below is the middle of the first signature and you can see the purple elastic cord I used to hold the signatures in.  I wrapped it around to the outside of the binding and tied a knot.

Below is the center of the 2nd signature and you see the 2nd binding cord.

I added two Hitch Fasteners to the front and back covers for the closure, punching a hole with my Cropadile and makiing a loop with a small piece of the purple elastic cord.   I put the back loop under the fastener base as I screwed it in, to hold the knotted loop on the back cover.
I painted a metal Snowflake Adornment with Patina Blue Fluorite from Ranger and tied it to a knot on the outside binding with a piece of thick black thread.
This little notebook measures 5"x 3.5"
