Paradise Found!

I have another project to share using some of Eileen Hull's new products -  House Ornament Die from Sizzix and 3 of her new Molten Dimensions Embossing Powders from Emerald Creek.

My project was inspired by the Inspiration Challenge over on Splitcoaststampers today -  hostess Brenda shared one of her Pinterest Boards - Needle Minders.

I was inspired by this Needle Minder.

I made an ATC using one made of MDF that I purchased at Top Flight Stamps.

The little beach cottage is part of Eileen's House Ornament Die - the little house is used for a tag on her bigger house ornament.  I colored it by sponging her  Bay color Blends2 Ink onto the matboard house.  After it was dry I drew the clapboard lines on with a Gray Copic. I adhered a piece of yellow cardstock behind the windows and drew around two edges of each window with a yellow Copic to create shadow.   I added an enamel star from Altenew at the peak and tiny shells (from Sanibel Island!) along the bottom.  The sentiment is a Small Talk/Occasions Sticker.
I used an electric pancake griddle set at 300* to emboss the ATC.   Check out this post of mine that shows more photos and details about embossing with a griddle!  This technique works well with Eileen's Molten Dimensions as they are very coarse.

Basically, I laid my craft mat onto the heated griddle, put the ATC on the mat and added a thick coat of Eileen's Glistening Glass as a base.  When that was melted (just a couple of minutes!) I added Eileen's Molten Dimensions in White Wonder, Aqua Splash and Golden Rod.  After they melted (another few minutes!) I swirled the colors with a pick
(the powders stick a little to the pick but can be easily broken off the pick when they harden)

Please check out Eileen's blog where she is posting her Inspiration Team's projects using her new products this month!

Eileen Hull's Sizzix Gift Card Folder Die - An Evening to Yourself

A week ago, I posted a project using Eileen Hull's new House Ornament and this week I'm back using her 2nd new die - Gift Card Folder and Label #2.  Eileen's Inspiration Team is creating all month with these new dies and Eileen will gather all the projects on her blog - so be sure to check it out!
The tag piece fits inside and you can either stamp a sentiment on it - as I did - or you can actually slip a gift card under that tab at the top of the tag.  These stamps are from a set called Gift Card It - by Waltingmouse (unfortunately out of business now)
Here's how the folder looks from the back.
The folder is about 3/8" deep so you could put several tags inside it, a little folder, photos, etc!
I have a few process photos to share with you as well.
I colored the front and back of the folder piece (cut from matboard) using Eileen's new Color Box Blends 2.  Beach for the outside......
Leaf on the inside.
I love using this method of mixing some of the thick ink on my craft mat, spritzing with water and then pouncing the watery mix on with a sponge.  It results in a great splatter look with light and dark shades of the same ink!
I used the same patterned paper on the tag piece that I used on my Cottage by the Beach.  I love how summery it looks and it coordinated with the inks perfectly!
I die cut two of the medium and small petals from Eileen's Pansy Flower die, sponged over them with her Clear Color Box Blends to serve as an adhesive for her new White Wonder Molten Dimensions embossing powder.  I didn't want to have the powder cover the complete petal so I could add color with some inks after I melted the powder.
I sponged on the inks in the same manner as the folder - mixing with water and pouncing with a sponge.  I love the way the color only soaked in where there wasn't any embossing powder.
I layered the 4 pieces of the flower over one another and held them together with a clear light green flower brad from my stash.  Another perfect match!  I adhered it a little off center
(I don't always like things lined up perfectly!)
A nice little gift package.
This would be a fun and welcome gift for new parents don't you think?!  The gift of babysitting for them and it could also include a gift card to a restaurant or movie.

Adventure Awaits Notebook Journal

Today I have a Notebook to share that I made using lots of Eileen Hull's products - her Sizzix Notebook and Passport Dies, several of her new Blends 2 inks and several of her Molten Dimensions embossing powders!
I cut the cover using Eileen's Notebook die out of a light cardboard similar to the weight of a cereal box.  I covered it with this beautiful wide washi tape called Nebular from Altenew.
I folded the washi tape over on the edges to the inside of the cover, snipping the corners so they would lay flat.
I die cut the pages from Eileen's Passport Die out of watercolor paper.
I sponged two of the pages and the inside front and back cover pieces using Eileen's new Clearsnap Blends 2 Inks using Sunshine, Melon, Leaf, Hydrangea, Pansy, Coconut and Flagstone (on the outside edges).  This ink is so thick - it's almost like a paint!  I spritzed water into each color so I could blend them easily.
First I sponged on watery Sunshine.
I cut up two round yellow art sponges into 4 pieces to sponge the colors, pouncing one color at a time on the watercolor panel.  I love the bubble spots it leaves from the holes in the sponge .
Next I sponged on watery Melon
then watery Leaf
and watery Hydrangea
Finally, I sponged watery Pansy over the bottom, sides, top edge and through the middle in spots.  I was looking to create a solar sky to go along with the Nebular Washi Tape cover.
I dried the panel with my heat tool then mixed a few drops of Coconut Blends 2 with water, picked some up on a small paint brush and tapped it against my finger to splatter 'stars' on the panel.
I dried the panels with my heat tool then adhered them to the inside covers to hide the turned over edges of the Washi tape using ScorTape.
I did the same sponging process on the first and last page of the two signatures.  I attached the signatures with black elastic cord wrapped through the middle of each signature and around the binding of the Notebook.  I stamped various celestial images and sentiments on the pages including the plain pages
The stamps above and below are all from Upon a Star from Lawn Fawn.
The stamp on the back inside cover is Infinite Universe from Lesia Agharda Design.
The Zodiac Celestial stamp is from Star Gazer Additions from Papertrey Ink.
These next two sentiment stamps are from Starlight Starbright from Verve.
Below is the center of the first signature and you can see the elastic cord in the middle. The sentiment is another one from the Star Gazer Additions Set.
Here you can see the two elastic cords knotted on the outside of the binding,  I added a little passport charm to one of the knots.  I looped a piece of paper string through the cords to wrap around and tie the journal closed.
Now I'd like to show you how I made the embossed ATC circle on the cover.  I saw this YouTube video on how to melt embossing powders using an electric platter.  I actually bought this electric pancake platter from Walmart to use specifically for this purpose!
(you can't use it for food once you've used it to melt powders.)
So I laid my craft mat over the platter that was heated to 300 degrees F.  I placed ATC coins cut out of MDF that I purchased.  I think you can just use cardstock if you want - but I wanted something a little more sturdy.  So first I spooned on Eileen's Glistening Glass Molton Dimensions over the coins and let them melt totally clear.  Here they are all partially melted.  It just takes a few minutes to totally melt.
Then I spooned on various amounts of Black Magic, Polished Silver and Aqua Splash Powders and let them melt.
Here they are (along with one I did earlier using Golden Rod rather than black powder.  I used a metal pick to make the squiggles, just running it through the colors.
This is the one I chose to use on the cover as it looked the most like outer space!
I adhered the circle to the cover with both ScorTape and Matte Multi Medium to be sure it stuck to the washi tape.
The sentiment is from Big World stamp set by Altenew.  I embossed it in white on a black strip.
Please check out Eileen Hull's blog this month to see how the Inspiration Team is using several of her new dies and products!

A Pansy Flower Journal

This month Eileen Hull's Inspiration Team is creating using her brand new Color Box Blends 2 inks and Emerald Creek Molten Dimensions Embossing Powders.
I made a journal using Eileen's newly released Notebook Die and adorned it with a die cut Pansy Flower.
The first decision I had to make was what colors I would use - and I looked through the array of Color Box Blends 2 that I had and pulled out Melon, Rose Gold and Flagstone.
I began with the flowers, cutting out each of the petal sizes twice out of watercolor paper using Eileen's Pansy Flower Die.  I sponged the largest and smallest petals with Rose Gold Blends 2 mixed with water on my craft mat and then sponged the medium size petals with Melon Blends 2 also mixed with water.  I love the mottled look achieved using this natural sponge.
While the watery ink was still wet  - I decided to emboss the largest and smallest petals with White Wonder Molten Dimensions.  I love the crackled look it gives when melted and you can still see some of the Rose Gold Blends 2 showing through.  (I ended up not using the smallest petal on my flower).
Then I die cut the Notebook out of Little Sizzles Matboard and sponged over some areas with Flagstone Blends 2 ink mixed on my craft mat with water.
I sponged over the rest of the cover with Melon Blends 2.  Just look at the wonderful mottled effect!
While the inks were still wet, I scattered some Golden Rod Molton Dimensions over the cover. I heat embossed it, holding my heat tool about 10" over the cover until the pieces started to melt and slowly moved my heat tool closer (to avoid having all the powder just scattering.)
Hopefully, you can see the wonderful shimmer of the gold in the photo below.
Next, I sponged the inside of the cover with the Melon Blends 2 mixed with water.  I also sponged just along the outside edges of the cover with Flagstone using what was left on the sponge.
I used two little notebooks for the notebook pages (from JoAnn sold in a package of 3)  I simply tied a piece of round white elastic cord through  the center of each notebook and around the binding of the notebook, knotting it on the outside to bind them to the cover.  That way they can be slipped in and out easily or replaced with full!
I tied a bird charm in the knot of one of the binding cords that matches the gold embossing.  I held the flower petals together with a pink plastic flower brad from my stash that just happened to match perfectly!  I glued the flower to the cover with Tombow Glue.
I looped a silver elastic tassel for the closure of the notebook through the bindings so it won't fall off when opening the journal.
I like simple closures that are not bulky and are easy to open and close.

Please check out Eileen's blog during the month of June for lots of creative inspiraton using her new Color Box Blends 2 Inks and her Emerald Creek Molten Dimensions Embossing Powders!
