If we could see the miracle.....

I used a fun technique on a panel of my card today -  using glossy card, water, re-inkers and SALT!
Here's a close up of the panel.  I used coarse sea salt so the marks left from it are large - looks like funky water spots!
Oh, and Yes -  I DID finally break down and buy this MFT Peek a Boo window die! (in both rectangle AND square!)
So, for the panel - I took a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of glossy card, spritzed it with water and dripped SU re-inkers in Caramel, Certainly Celery and Bashful Blue randomly on the panel.  I tilted the panel around so the colors would move and blend - adding more water if needed, and then sprinkled coarse sea salt over the panel and set it aside to dry.
(you can help it along with a heat tool if you want but I think it might react better if left alone to dry!)
After it dried, I brushed off the salt and it was ready to go.  I cut my panel into 4 smaller pieces so I can make 4 cards like this one from one salted panel!
While I was at it -  I made a second salt panel using SU re-inkers in Barely Banana, Cameo Coral and Lavender Lace - quite a different look with different colors!
 Here's my finished card.
I die cut the frame out of a panel of white card and stamped this great quote.  It's from a brand new stamp set by PaperArtsy - Eclectia 3 - EABO1 Trees and Flowers.    Alison Bomber is the designer.   Alison and I are both Creative Guides on the A Vintage Journey Challenge Blog and I am so happy for her having her own stamps made!   Her sets are kind of hard to find in the USA right now - PaperArtsy is based in England where Alison lives.  But you can check with any US company that sells PaperArtsy and you may find them, so far she has two sentiment/quote sets available.

You'll find links to several YouTube videos on using salt there too
Stamps:  Eclectica 3 - Alison Bomber - EAB01 - PaperArtsy

Saving for Vacation!

For the month of August -  Eileen Hull's Sizzix Inspiration Team has been asked to use any of her Heartfelt dies in a unique/unexpected way.
I decided to use her House/Pocket Stichlet die along with her Block/Cube 3D die for my project:
A bank to use to save for vacations!
I die cut the pieces I would need for the project.  I cut the block out of cream matboard, the house out of both Rustic Cream card and patterned paper from St. Tropez by Prima (love this colorful barnwood paper!) and the windows, door and eaves out of corrugated card.   I also die cut window panes out of Summer Sunshine card to look like the cabin was cozily lit up inside! I added a Hex Fastener for a doorknob and Idea-ology Small Talk/Occasions stickers.
You can see the tool I used to cut the coin slot in the photo above.  It's something I've had for years.
Here's how the bank looks from the side:
From the top.  The coin slot can also be cut using an X-acto knife.
and from the back!  The sticker on the back is from Idea-ology Metallic Stickers/Quotations and I printed VACATION FUND using my Brother Label Maker.   I left the bottom flap of the box unglued so the money can be removed come vacation time!
Saving might be fun when it's in a cute little summer cottage!  And having it sit on a shelf where you see it everyday is a good reminder to put something in it!
You will find unique and unexpected creations all month by the Inspiration Team over on Eileen's blog.  I hope you'll check it out and that they encourage you to use your dies in unexpected ways!

I'm also linking to the following challenges:
Inspired by the house/windows

Paper:  St. Tropez - Prima, Rustic Cream and Summer Sunrise - PTI, Corrugated Paper - The Write Stock, Cream Little Sizzles Matboard - Sizzix.
Accessories:  Dies - House/Pocket Stitchlets and Block/Cube 3D - Eileen Hull/Sizzix, Idea-ology Hex Fastener, Small Talk/Occasions, Metallic Stickers/Quotations,  Brother Label Maker, Slit Punch, hammer, Tombow Glue, ScorTape.
