Inspired Correspondence

Here is my second project highlighting Claire's new stamp set Little Box Labels. I just love making boxes and containers and this set is just perfect for these kinds of crafts! (Click on any picture to see more detail)

My project today was made for the Inspiration Challenge on Split Coast. I was inspired by this pretty charm from the Charm Lady Boutique that Stef showed us.
I thought this pretty Basic Grey Paper matched the colors of the inspiration and this dreamy chocolate satin ribbon accented it perfectly! I added the little feather because I think it's so cute! I stamped the super ribbon stamp and layered it behind the label here. What a fun stamp that is!

Of course I had to make some notes to tuck inside this pretty box! I used some sentiments from the Say It With Style set as well as Blessed by You. I also stamped a two layer flower also from Say it With Style on the envelopes just to make it all matchy-matchy! These notes are just one layer 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.

Here's a little peek into the box to see how they nestle right in there! I made 14 notes and envelopes but you could probably fit 25 in here. You could also add some booklets of postage stamps and a pen to make it a complete Correspondence Set!
This would make a wonderful gift for someone wouldn't it?! Or maybe I'll just keep it!!! LOL!!
Both of Claire's new sets are up at her shop now so be sure to hop over there before they sell out!
And check out all of the Design Team's blogs listed on my side bar - they'll be posting projects too! and we have two new members - welcome Lisa and Jennifer!! Whoo Hoo!
Thanks so much for coming by today!

Little Box Labels - New Waltzingmouse Set!

I am so excited to show you my project made with some of the stamps in Claire's new set being released this weekend called Little Box Labels from Waltzingmouse Stamps! I used the label, two of the words, and the great jug of cooking utensils on this fun recipe box. The little mit and cup are chipboard shapes from The What's Cookin set by Maya Road that I covered with designer paper (the back side of Basic Grey/Nook & Pantry/Teapots) .

I inherited my mother's recipe box when she passed 7 years ago and I thought it would be nice to have a special place to put my favorite ones so I could find them easily.
I am just so thrilled that Claire, who's from Ireland, spelled Mum with a 'u'. Even though we live in the US - my family always spelled 'mum' this way - (it wasn't until I was older that I realized it was because of our English/Irish/Scotish heritage!) And, of course, most published stuff in the US spells it 'Mom' so I would always be crossing out the 'o' and inserting a 'u' when I gave anything to my Mum! (this was in my pre-card making days!)

I found the instructions for this little box over on Sharon's No Time to Stamp blog over a year ago. I had printed it out then knowing that SOME DAY I'd want to make one! It's really simple to put together.
You start with a 10 1/4" x 7 1/2" piece of cardstock. Holding the short edge against the top ruler on your Scor Pal, move the left edge of the cardstock over to the 1/4" mark, then score at 3" and 5".

Turn the paper so the long side is against the top ruler and score at 2". Slide the cardstock to the right so the right edge is all the way over at 12 and score at 10".

Cut on the score lines as shown below and trim a little bit off of the center pieces so it folds up easier.

Attach Scor Tape to the edges and fold up your box!

I used this wonderful Designer Paper from Basic Grey called Nook and Pantry/Beaters for the fronts and sides. I think it gives the perfect nostalgic look for these old, well used recipes! The front & back panels are 2 1/2" x 6" and the side panels are 1 3/4" x 2 1/2". Be sure you are holding the DP the correct way when you cut if the pattern has directionality to it's design!

I made my cards by cutting white card stock into 4"x6" pieces. (you could also use 4x6 index cards) The DP border is 1 1/4" x 6". After I attached the DP - I cut the corners with my Zutter corner rounder. I'm not sure yet if I will use these tabbed cards as dividers for all the recipes - or if I will attach the recipe right to them and put the name of the recipe on the tag.

Below you see the box from the back - I used a 24" piece of saddlestitched ribbon and knotted it in the back so even the back looks pretty!

I used the Round Top Tab punch from SU for the tabs and I just stapled them onto the cards.

So be sure to hop over to Waltzingmouse Stamps to check out this set as well as her new Labels set (they fit the Labels Five Nestabilities as does the label in the set I used today!) - Claire's stamps seem to sell out quickly so if you like it - be sure to put it in your cart!!
She's posting the new sets either Friday or Saturday - so if they aren't there when you look - be sure to check back!

And also take a peek at the other Design Team members listed on my side bar - we'll all be showing projects using the new stamp sets over the next week or two! (as well as Claire herself!)

Thanks so much for coming by - I'd love to hear what you think of the recipe box as well as the stamps!

A Winter Earth Angel

I made my card today for the Split Coast color challenge (vanilla, black, soft suede) as well as the Doubledog Dare Challenge where Anne (jdmommy) challenged us to make a winter birthday card. I hope the dark colors qualifies this as winter!?!

This silk ribbon from Sharon's Stamp Simply Ribbon Shop is as soft as butter and just drapes so beautifully!

I paper pieced the sweet Earth Angel's dress. I masked her to stamp the lovely lacey looking wings behind her. I used my copics for coloring.

The stamps are from the Earth Angel set by Waltzingmouse Stamps.

A Gingerbread Christmas

Today's featured stamper on Split Coast is Mrs. Boz - she has a lot of pretty stuff in her gallery so it wasn't hard at all to find something I wanted to CASE today.

I chose her pretty fall flowers card . The circle design and images along the edge appealed to me.

I replaced her flowers with these cute little gingerbread men and candies from the Oven Fresh set by Waltzingmouse Stamps . The word Christmas is from the Half Baked set. I added a ribbon and dew drops and sponged the edges of the circle with Chai Ink from PTI.

I've been wanting to use this fun peppermint candy DP from Cosmo Cricket and it seemed to fit here perfectly! Using the Gingerbread men and candies qualifies my card for Thursday's Ways to use It Challenge -to use sweets! I suddenly feel like I need to go bake some cookies?!?!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Thanks for Your Hospitality

The web site for the Inspiration Challenge on Split Coast today was Oliebollen - I was inspired by these fun Euro Play Cases

I used the Home Made Template from PTI for my cute house as well as the Home Made stamp set for the windows and doors. The colors are those of my BIL's house as I will be giving this to them as a thank you for having us over for Thanksgiving this year.

The house is about 4.5 x 3.5 x 5.5 and the roof comes off so you can put cookies, candies, candles or any treat inside. I included home made spiced nuts in mine!

Here's a view of the side and back of the house. I put this bicycle here because SIL Carol has her childhood bike (that looks very similar to this stamped one) on her front porch decorated with flowers in it's basket.

I made the Thanksgiving 2009 label with my label maker to remind them of when they received it - and below you can see the other side of the house with it's windows.

It's good to be back to stamping after a few days off for the holidays! I'm also glad all the "eating till you're completely stuffed" is over with!

I appreciate your stopping by today!

Stamps: Home Made, Everyday Button Bits - Papertrey ink
Paper: Basic Grey, Handsome Hunter - SU
Ink: Versamark Embossing Ink pad, Adirondack - Butterscotch

A Proud Flowered Wreath

I've got some Thanksgiving festivities going on already but of course I had to do some challenges!! I used the colors for the Split Coast color challenge, I made a wreath of flowers for the Doubledog Dare Challenge and I'm on my way to the Tuesday Tea Party at the Grand ole Opry to see Johnny Cash sing Give my Love to Rose (hence the flowers on the card!)

Phew - hope you can follow all that! I think Joanne (sleepyinseattle) wanted us to make a wreath using stamps for the DDC - and I used foam flowers but the ring under it is a stamp! (Note: I got the flowers from Taylored Expressions but I don't see them on the site anymore.) The pretty frame here is from the Labels No 1 set by Waltzingmouse Stamps and the sentiment is from the set called Blessed by You. The stamped label fits nicely inside the Labels One Nestability die so it's a breeze to cut it out whoo hoo!!

I wish you all a Blessed Thanksgiving!

Stamps: Waltzingmouse Stamps - frame - Labels No 1, Sentiment - Blessed by You

A Gift Card From Santa

I just had to play along with the Try a New Technique challenge over on Split Coast - the challenge was to use Claire's wonderful Stocking Gift card Holder template . You can see all the stockings in the SCS gallery here.

I'm still in the Featured Stamper mode from yesterday (see post below) of using textured card stock - so my stocking is made of 3 colors of green Bazzill. (the top lifts up and you slip the gift card (or cash!) into the stocking!)

I ran faux stitches around the top, toe and heel using a brown Copic. The stamps are Waltzingmouse Very Vintage Labels No 4 and the sentiment is from the secret set.

The wonderful ribbon is from Sharon's No Time to Stamp Ribbon Shop. I hung the tag around the ribbon with a chain from Michaels. I sponged around all the edges with chai ink - which qualifies this for the CAS challenge to use sponging. I kept the embellishments simple in the clean and simple tradition.

This may be my last post for a bit - got lots going on for a few days - I wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving time - I hope you are sharing this time with some loved ones - but regardless of who we are with - we need to remember to count all our wonderful blessings and thank God for them! I'll be back soon with some pics of my adventures.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
