Monograming a Book Mark - and some Special Offers!

Today's Ways to Use It challenge was to use a monogram of some sort on your card. I have acquired a lot of the Just Rite Monogram stamps (!) and am so happy to use some of them here! I made a magnetic bookmark - starting with a piece of 5 1/4 x 2 5/8 card stock that I folded in half. The font of the J is Special Occasions and the 'from the library of' comes in a separate borders set. First I stamped it on yellow - then on blue - then just punched out the J with a circle punch from the blue one and attached it over the yellow with a foam dimensional. I cuttled the green square with Swiss Dots. I punched the bottom with my Fiskars Treading Water punch just centering it and punching once. I attached two pieces of sticky magnet strip inside on each panel.

I also stamped the monogram on a glassine envelope that I got on line at Oriental Trading Co. to put the bookmark in to give to someone (myself in this case!! LOL!!) Tuesdays Double Dare Challenge that I do with some SCS friends was from jdmommy this week - and we had to use an envelope somehow on our project. You can check out the other uses of envelopes for this challenge here.I used these colors - Ballet Blue, Ruby Red, Certainly Celery, and So Saffron - for KWerner's color inspiration challenge this week that you can see here
So this little bookmark is covering a lot of territory today! Here is a picture of it in use. Just snapped over the page and the magnets on each panel holding it on.
For those readers looking to see if they can figure out what book this is - it's "Songs of the Humpback Whale" by Jodi Picoult - I love her books - I've read 4 of them so far - and she is from nearby New Hampshire so I feel like I know her (how silly is that!?!?! LOL!!!)
and a couple of special offers for you today!
Heather has reduced the prices on ALL of her stamps so hop on over to H&M Stamps to check that out.
and - Kristin is offering a free stamp grab bag to everyone who orders $25 or more - this is good until 10/12 so get over to Artful INKables quick to get in on that special before it's gone!
And last but not least - I just reached 40,000 hits and to show my total appreciation to you all for coming by here - I'll be posting a "Really Big" (as Ed Sullivan used to say) blog candy on Sunday - so be sure to check back!
thank you so much for coming by!!

Friendship Sewn in a Pizza Box

Isn't this just the cutest miniature pizza box?!?! What a wonderful Try a New Technique challenge this week over on Split Coast. You can see Jen Del Muro's instructions for this box here. (It's an Adobe file). Mine is a 4x4 and she also gives directions for a 3x3.

I made mine a quilt top package that will have these sewing kit items inside to give to a friend. All the stamps, paper and ribbon are from Papertrey Ink. Nicole offers a free download of her new designer papers every month at her site. I save it to a file on my computer and I print it on cardstock. Then I can use them whenever I want to on cards or projects.

I got the sewing kit from Oriental Trading Company. They don't offer the same one now that I show - but this is similar - just less items. (I got mine last year).

You can see everyone's pizza boxes on SCS here.

Ok - so now back to my card!........ My card today was made for the Featured Stamper Challenge on Split Coast.

This weeks Featured Stamper was Love Stampin!!!! and I have to say that I have not been in her gallery before - and discovered she has many lovely cards there! I chose this pretty sympathy card of her's to case.

I stayed with the deer theme but used different stamps and made mine a card you'd send to a friend as a thank you or thinking of you card rather than a sympathy card.

I used two recently released stamp sets from Artful INKables called Deer Friends (the deer, chipmunk, and sentiment) and Country Critters (the tall grass, short grass and tree stump) for this card. I used a double sided designer paper for the background. I love double sided DP because you can use the two different sides and you know they coordinate without having to think about it! I thought these colors echoed the forest theme of the stamps.
I masked the deer using Eclipse masking tape - then stamped the stump and grasses. I used Prismacolor markers to color the images. The front grass tufts are up on foam dimensionals as are the image and sentiment panels.
I stamped and colored the cute chipmunk, cut her out and mounted her on the top corner of the sentiment. I added a little paper piercing underneath the sentiment.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend - back to work tomorrow so I can earn more money to buy more stamps ! LOL!!!

I made this card for the sketch challenge on Split Coast - here is the sketch Roxie gave us this week:

I used a wonderful fall leaf set from Artful INKables called Autumn's Flowers that I stamped randomly on the panel with Wild Wasabi ink, colored in with Prismacolor markers and then drew over the leaf veins with a Spica gold pen to give it some shimmer. The striped designer paper is from Stampin Up and the ovals designer paper is an Amy Butler by K&Co. I used the Design label punch and 2 oval punches, all from Stampin Up, for the sentiment. Both the sentiment and stamped panel are up on foam dimensionals. What a great sketch this is! This is one that I'm sure to use again.

Remember you can get 10% off your Artful INKables order when you use the code listed in the right hand column of my blog - so be sure to write it down when you hop over to check out the stamps!
