SOSN - SteamPunk Trunk

Hi stamping friends!  Today is my day to post a project for Creations by AR  - using a template released in the past in a new way.  I just love Adela's template called Papa's Trunk -  she designed it as an Army trunk like the one her father had.
Today - I've transformed it into a Steampunk Travel Trunk.
I cut the template out of black cardstock using the SVG files with my Silhouette Cameo (all of Adela's templates come in 3 formats - PDF to print and hand cut, SVG and DXF to use with cutting machines.)  After assembling the box and cover, before adding the hinges and handles - I simply cut pieces of a travel collage patterned paper 1/4" smaller than the measurement of each panel and adhered them to the front, back, top and sides!  I even put it on the inside cover
and inside bottom of the trunk.
Here's a look at the hinges on the back and handles on the sides.
Instead of using the included template for the padlock to 'lock' the trunk - I used a swivel clasp from Tim Holtz.
I also used Tim Holtz Box Corners for the bottom corners on the trunk to create that 'steampunk' look!
My design was inspired by some trunks I saw on Pinterest -    here:
and here:
I'm so happy with my little steampunk trunk!  It measures about 4 1/4" wide x 2 3/4" deep x 2 1/2" high.  How fun would this be to give to a friend going on a trip??!  Filled with a gift card or some little traveling treats?
Thanks for stopping by today!  You'll find the Papa's Trunk template here at Creations by AR.  If you are interested - you can see a Valentine's trunk I made with this template back in January - on my post here.

And Adela is offering a discount on this template from June 5-June 11th at Creations by AR

I'm also entering this in the Little Red Wagon challenge -   Heavy Metal

Paper:  True Black - PTI, Patterned paper/Sea Glass Label - K and Company
Accessories:  Silhouette Cameo, Scor Tape, Copper mini brads - Michaels, Box Corners and Swivel Clasp - Tim Holtz Ideology, Papa's Trunk Template - Creations by AR.com
