You should start the Blog Waltz at Claire's - if you've come here from Laurie - you're on the right track!
Not only is Claire releasing 8 beautiful new stamp sets today - but she has also created this fun cake template for you to purchase!!!
I'm SO excited for Claire celebrating her fabulous first year as WMS - I just had to make two slices of cake to share today!
My first piece is a traditional "pretty" cake complete with silver dragees (yes I looked that term up on Wikipedia!) and lovely roses I made from Mulberry Paper. The cake and frosting are stamped with a background stamp from Picnic Patterns.I lined the box with Claire's Digital DP Celtic Squares. It's like a custard filling!
My coordinating Birthday Card uses the same background stamp as well as a sentiment and frame from Fancy Phrases. The frames in this set fit the Fancy Tags Shapeabilities. The dragees are made with Liquid Pearls. For the inside of my card I stamped a frame from the Vintage Labels 10 set, cut it out with a Labels 10 Nestability and stamped a quote from the Words of Wisdom Set inside the frame.
My second cake is a slice of Carrot Cake (use your imagination a little please! LOL!!). I used another background stamp from Picnic Patterns for the cake and embossed the "cream cheese" frosting with the Divine Swirl Cuttlebug folder! I cut a top triangle from the template and dry embossed that separately and attached it to the top of the pie (the template is too big to fit the whole thing at once in the Cuttlebug embossing folder)
The ribbon around the cake represents the cream cheese frosting filling!
I made these flowers from grosgrain ribbon. (I just hand stitched along one long edge of a 9" piece - gathered it - knotted the ends - twisted it in a circle and glued the ends wherever they overlapped.)
I just love this 'Hurrah' sentiment from Fancy Phrases - it could be used for so many happy occasions - birthday, new job, graduation, a new car, new baby - well - you get the picture!
On the inside of my card today, I just stamped 'Congratulations' in this pretty dotted frame - both from Fancy Phrases.
Now please waltz on over to my good friend Anya to see what she's baked up for us today!
Remember to leave a comment on all the WMS DT blogs - 2 winner's will be chosen - one from one of the DT's blogs and one from Claire's blog! You can win one of the new stamp sets!
You have until 11:59 pm EST on Monday 5/3 to leave your comments. Winners will be announced on Claire's blog on Tuesday 5/4.
