Hi everyone - the November A Vintage Journey Challenge is up on the AVJ blog today - and it's a fun one! Cracking Up!
Alison is our host and here is here description of the challenge: Share your crackled projects – whether your
crackle is stamped, painted, texture paste or any other kind of crackle. To be a
winner or Pinworthy mention your project must be in a vintage; shabby;
mixed-media; art journaling; industrial or steampunk style.
Since I just did a crackle project for Monday's Inspiration post (click here if you missed it!),
I decided to use a crackle stamp for my project today.
I love this background crackle stamp from Impression Obsession (I used it on my Blog header above). I stamped it on a piece of white card with Watering Can Ink. Then I stenciled half of Talaya Goddess of Rain's face on the left edge using black embossing paste and let it dry overnight.
I got out tray of watercolor paints, brushed over the card with water and then watercolored light blue on the right and flesh color over Talaya.
Then I chose sentiment stamps from Gentlemen's Art and Art in Bloom by Wendy Vecchi - stamping one directly onto the card and one on a small panel of white card. I sponged all the edges with Distress Tumbled Glass. I added some Small Talk stickers and a die cut heart that I embossed in Red Geranium embossing powder.
Here's a close up of the sentiments
and a close up of Talaya
I made this a one layer inspirational piece that can stand up on a shelf or window sill by adding an easel on the back.
So please join us this month in the A Vintage Journey Challenge - showing us how you 'crackle'!! You'll find more inspiration by the other participating Creative Guides over at the AVJ Blog here!
