August Mixed Media Card Challenge - Butterflies

Where is the summer going?!!  Here we are just about half way through I suppose if we figure summer is July and Aug  - and it's time for the August Mixed Media Card Challenge!  Something to excite us and get the creative juices flowing!!  Shery's challenge for us is to use butterflies with the optional element of gold.
For my card this month I opted for both!  I have a whole flutter of butterflies - and little bits of gold scattered around. The sentiment, Use Your Wings, is from the Scribbly Insects stamp set by Dina Wakley.
Here is how I made my background - I used a brick stencil with Crackled Texture Paste - and before it dried, I dumped some Mustard Seed Distress Glitter on it.  I left it for a few hours to dry.
After the texture paste dried I sponged the Add a Stencil along the right edge where there wasn't any brick with Ranger Distress Mustard Seed Ink.  Then I sponged the whole panel with Ranger Distress Tea Dye Ink.  A lot of the glitter rubbed off - but enough stayed on to give a nice sparkle  - I think you can see it in this photo below on the bricks.
The big butterfly is from Studio 490 Blossom Bucket.  I used the Alterations Butterfly Frenzy die to cut all the little butterflies out of Idea-ology Wallflower Vellum paper.  I glued them onto the brick with a line of glue down the center of their bodies, bent the wings up and added a gold half pearl to each butterfly.
I hope you will join us in the August Mixed Media Card Challenge -  you have almost the whole month to play -  you will find all the challenge details plus lots of inspiration from my talented Team mates over at the Mixed Media Card Challenge blog here.
