It's the first of March and time for the next Mixed Media Card Challenge! This month's challenge is Hints of Spring - optional item use a bird. And let me tell you - here in MA where we have had 4 weeks of blizzards, one after another - even a HINT of spring is welcome!!
So my hint of spring is an Easter card - with a little bunny, a bright sun - and I even got the bird into my design! I made the card base by rubbing Cracked Pistachio, Worn Lipstick and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Inks onto my craft mat. I sprayed water over the inks and dragged my white card base through the colors and dried it with my heat tool. Then I used the same inks sponging them over my Tim Holtz Dot Fade stencil. I flicked water onto the card with my fingers to create water spots and again dried it with my heat tool.
The bunny and her pretty bow are dies from Lil Inker Designs. I embossed her with Shabby White Frantage Embossing powder and sat her in some layered grass using an MFT die. The Easter stamp is from Penny Black
I used the small and large sun dies from Lil' Inker Designs - embossing them using Wendy Vecchi Archival Inks and Embossing Powders in both Orange Blossom and Buttercup. I layered them to the card with foam dots. The bird is a Remnant Rub/Botanicals from Idea-ology.
So how will you interpret Hints of Spring?? I'm looking forward to seeing your Mixed Media Card linked up over at the Mixed Media Card Challenge blog - where you will find all the details of the challenge - plus some marvelous inspiration from the rest of the Design Team!
I'm also linking my card to the following challenges:
