WMS Saturday Sketch Challenge WMSC8

Please scroll down to the post below to see my card for this weeks Speedy the Cats' Friends Challenge!

Wow - it's Saturday again! and time for the WMS sketch challenge. Claire has a fun one for us this week!

I was pretty literal in my interpretation of the sketch this week.... although I did add a sentiment piece!

The stamps are all from Rescue Remedies . I popped up the front panel on foam dimensionals so you really get the feeling of depth with the punched holes!
Check out the other Design Team samples over at the challenge blog make your sketch card and post it on InLinkz by Thursday Aug 5th at 11:59 pm EST. Three entries will be chosen as Top Mouse!
You are welcome to make a card or a scrapbook page or anything else that moves you, as long as we can see the sketch in there somewhere! We'll announce the Top Mouse Awards when we post the new sketch challenge next Saturday.

If you post on Split Coast please use WMSC8 in your keywords!
Happy weekend everyone!

Speedy the Cats' Friends Challenge #14 - Thank you!

Welcome to another Speedy the Cats' Friends Challenge! This week Vicki challenged us to make a 'thank you' card.

I chose to use the sentiment 'Blessings' to convey my thanks on my card. These pretty stamps are from a new set being released mid-August by Marks' Finest Papers called Tweet Blessings.

I thought this Basic Grey DP matched the flowered bird perfectly! I colored the flowers on the bird with Copics, cut it out and layered it over the DP. I sponged all the edges 9on bird, sentiment and DP) with Ranger Distress Tea Dye ink and curled up the corners a little bit on the DP.

The sentiment is cut with a small oval punch and framed in a Labels 10 Nestability die cut. I added a few black gems on the bird, the corner and the sentiment.

The stamps, the lime and pink card stock, the ribbon and charm are all from Marks' Finest Papers.

So come on over to Marks Finest Papers Blog and link your Thank You card there. You could win an MFP stamp set!!

If you load your card on Split Coast please use Speedys Friends in your keywords.

Thanks for stopping by today on your busy Saturday - I really appreciate it!

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Pink Passion - SU, Ranger Distress - Tea Dye

Waltzingmouse DT Blog Waltz - New Release!

Wow - we're finally here! The day Wanda's Pantry and Midnight Feast are finally available to purchase!

And as is the WMS tradition - Claire and the Design Team are having a blog waltz! You should start the waltz with Claire - if you came here from Belinda's blog - you're in the right place!

I have two final projects to share with you today - another ghoulish treat and a Horribly Happy card!
Ok - so here's my final offering to gross you out this week - I promise! - a tasty bottle of Vampire Blood! Before you even say 'yuck' - I'll tell you it's just strawberry jello! Doesn't this look totally cool?!?

I recycled a plastic jar of Dole Fruit for my container. The top band (to cover the word 'Dole' imprinted in the bottle) is stamped with the fripperie bg stamp from last month's release - Victorian Fripperie. I stamped the label and the panel in black on white card stock and sponged the edges with Barn Door and Tea Dye distress inks. I used the drip punch for the cover's edge. (I'm so glad I bought that punch last year on sale after season!)

For the top of the cover - I used the circle frame stamp and a sentiment, again from Victorian Fripperie - they go so well with these new Halloween sets! I stamped the little newt beneath the sentiment, added tiny gems and sponged the edges.

On the back I used two of the sentiments from Midnight Feast and 'Oh My' from Victorian Fripperie.
And finally - I just couldn't end the Sneaks without making at least ONE card!
And the happy news!!!! You have 2 chances to win a free WMS stamp set - 1) by leaving a comment at Claire's blog, and 2) by leaving a comment on each of the DT 's blogs.
Two random winners will be chosen - you must leave your comments by 11:59 pm EST on Thurs 7/29/10. Winners will be announced on Claire's blog on 7/30/10
Now waltz over to Anya's blog to see what ghoulish creation she has for us!
AND remember to order your Halloween sets here!

Thanks SO much for sticking with me through the sneak peeks this week!! I hope you have as much fun as I did!

WMS Sneak Peek Day 3 - Treacherous Treats!

Welcome to Day 3 of the WMS Design Team's sneak peek. Are you enjoying all the spooky fun??! I've got yet another ghoulish treat and container to share with you today! (do you sense a theme with my peeks?? LOL!)

Caution - if the fingers on Saturday bothered you - these treats may have the same effect!!!

Today I bring you Fresh Plucked Eyeballs!

I found this wonderful oval shaped ribbed jar at Joanne's Fabrics (just $1.00!) These treats are really gum balls (does that make you able to look at them now?!? LOL!)

The Martha Stewart drip edge punch is just perfect for around the cover don't you think?!? I used Fancy Tag Nestabilities under my jar label stamping.

Here's the back of my treat jar. The SU large oval punch fits perfectly inside the oval ridge in the jar.

Tomorrow we'll be having our new release DT Blog Waltz (2 pm EST start) and the new stamp sets will be available for you to purchase - Claire is offering free shipping on all orders over approximately $70 US!!!
Now fly on over to see Claire and the following DT members to see what they have created today!

WMS Sneak Peek Day 2 - Bat Droppings

Welcome to day 2 of the WMS Design Team's sneak peek at the two Halloween sets Claire is releasing on 7/27 - Wanda's Pantry and Midnight Feast! Did you have fun seeing everyone's spooky creations yesterday?!?

Today I've created another treat container - a little tamer than yesterday's fingers (so many people commented they were grossed out by them!!) Today - I bring you Bat Droppings!!! LOL!!I found this wonderful 7"tall bottle at Michaels (just $1.00!) but the neck was SO narrow I had trouble finding candy that would fit inside - I tried M&M's first, then jelly beans, and finally found Sugar Babies would fit! Phew! and they had the added benefit of looking like Bat Droppings! Yipee!! (although Claire's purple droppings on her project yesterday looked really cool!!!)
I had these great bat wings from a craft kit I purchased from Martha Stewart a couple of years ago - but you can just draw the shape to make some wings. I added a few black gems to give them a little dimension and sparkle.

Here's what I put on the back of the bottle. The to/from label is a sizzix die. Both panels are sponged with ink.
Now fly your bat over to Claire and the following DT's blogs to see what ghoulish things they have today!!!! We'll have more for you tomorrow if you can stand it!!!

WMS Sketch, a Sneak Peek and an Exciting Announcement!

Please scroll down to the post below to see my card for this weeks Speedy the Cats' Friends Challenge

We have lots of exciting news at WMS today - First - Claire has added another terrific designer to our team! I am so thrilled to welcome Mona Pendleton to the group - I'm sure you know her and her awesome creativity! - please welcome her when you visit her blog below!

Secondly - it's Saturday and time for another Waltzingmouse Sketch challenge! There were some great cards made last week from a very tricky sketch - this weeks design is a little bit easier I think - do you? Here it is:

and our third exciting thing today is that many of the DT are sneak peeking two fun new Halloween sets that will be available at Claire's WMS shop next Tuesday!

I'm using a stamp from the set called Wanda's Pantry on my project today. Whoo hoo! If you love Halloween - you're gonna love this set! There are all sorts of ghoulish creepy labels and images in it! I decided to make a little treat box rather than a card.

See the label ??? it reads - Partially Decomposed Fingers - and look at the fun gummy fingers I found to go inside my box!!! Creepy eh?? (They're called Gummy Flesh Fries and they come packaged in a french fry wrapper like at McDonalds!) They taste pretty good too (as long as you don't think of them as really being what they are shaped like - DH won't even try one!!!)
To make my container - I took a small gable box, covered it with panels of spooky DP and sponged all the edges!

Here's a little close up of the label and the fingers! That's a 'bloody' tip on the end of them there in case you couldn't figure that out (!) I stamped the label once on white and once on orange - then punched out the 'fingers' part and layered it over the white label.
For those of you playing with the sketch this week - check out the other DT samples on the challenge blog - make your sketch card and get it posted on Mr. Linky by Thursday 7/29/10 at 11:59 pm EST

If you post on Split Coast please use WMSC7 in your keywords!
Now - To see more fun projects using the two new Halloween sets coming out please check Claire's blog and the following Design Team members!

Julia (me!)
Mona - our new DT member!
Laurie

We'll be having more sneak peeks tomorrow so be sure to stop by!
Oh - and I just rememberd a 4th exciting thing - Claire has redone the WMS shop AND she has added a gallery link where you can see cards made by the DT AND you can create your own gallery and load up your WMS cards so everyone can be inspired!! Go check it out!!
Ok I lied - here's a fifth and last thing!! - here's a message from Claire who's going on a well deserved vacation after the release: "So here's the vacation deets for the store: Orders taken after midday on Friday 30th July will be processed from Sunday 15th August onwards, I will resume shipping on the Monday 16th. I have decided to let the free shipping offer (orders over £50 GBP) run until I return from vacation."

I'm sneak peaking a new stamp set that will be released in Mid August - it's called Regal and Proud and is just perfect for masculine cards don't you think? Nothing like the good old out-of-doors scenes!

This is a real clean and simple design - no layers accept the framings - I stamped the images in black on white card stock - masked different areas with torn pieces of Eclipse tape and sponged on the colors to sort of coincide with the levels of the image. This could be a congratulations card - a good luck card or a birthday card right?

Come on over to Marks Finest Papers Blog and link your masculine card there. You could win an MFP stamp set!!

If you load your card on Split Coast please use Speedys Friends in your keywords.

A Star Baby Boy!

I made these Baby Boy Thank You cards for my niece, Katie, who's having a baby boy in September.

Of course - I had to make a little box to put them all in along with some envelopes. Twelve of them fit nicely inside!
I stamped little baby phrases on the bellyband around the box and the year of birth on the top.
I used the Nestability Fleur de Lis die for the top.

When she's sent all the cards -she can use this box to store little keepsakes the baby gets as he grows!
Don't you just love baby stuff! Thanks for coming by today!

Farewell Birdie

Today Latisha Yaost was the featured stamper over on Split Coast. What beautiful work she does!

I chose her I Miss You card to CASE because it featured a birdcage and I've been wanting to use my Tim Holtz birdcage Sizzix die since I bought it a few months ago!

I turned my card to accomodate the size of the die cut birdcage, used different papers and punched an edge on CS instead of using a ribbon. I used a Waltzingmouse sentiment.

I recycled a beverage coaster from a restaurant for my birdcage. You can see the coaster in my pic. I then cut another cage with DP and adhered it to the coaster.

Today I went to my niece Katies' baby shower - she's due in Sept. It's so fun to see all the sweet little baby things!
Stamps: Waltzingmouse - Asian Gardens Additions
Paper: vintage cream - PTI, Bazzill Basics/Butter, Core'dinations Vintage Collection, DP October Afternoon/thrift shop/still in the box

Inspired by the Blue Carrot Shop

There were so many fun nostalgic items on The Blue Carrot Shop , (the Inspiration Challenge over on Split Coast this past Saturday) I was inspired to make two projects!

First I saw these cute peanut treat bags and thought it would be fun to make some of my own.I used a new label stamp from Rescue Remedies by Waltzingmouse Stamps for my bags. I just stamped right on the bag using Blazing Red Stazon Ink (other inks will smear on these waxy bags - How do I know that??!)Then I die cut a little Sizzix tag and stamped it with Get Well from Fancy Phrases and threaded a ribbon through it.
These will make nice little treats to drop off to a friend or relative that's not feeling well don't you think?? And they are quick and simple to create!

Stamps: Waltzingmouse Stamps - Rescue Remedies, Fancy Phrases
Paper: glassine bags - PTI
Ink: Blazing red Stazon, Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories: Sizzix tag die/Tag Scallop Combo, satin ribbon - PTI
Then I came upon these fun Arizona beverage glasses.

Which inspired me to make this little tag!

My stamps are a sneak peek of Southwest Cowboy by Mark's Finest Papers that will be released July 13th.

The tag is cut with a Sizzix die. I punched a circle on a piece of Eclipse masking tape - layed it on the card and sponged the sun/moon over the top of the cactus.

I spritzed the tag with gold Perfect Pearls mixed with water in a mini mister - it has a shimmer IRL that doesn't show at all here!

The sentiment is just a portion of the sentiment included in the set - but I just inked up this part, punched it out and layered it over the cactus with foam dimensionals.

I hope you like my inspired projects today! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Stamps: Mark's Finest Papers - Soutwest Cowboy - July release
Paper: rustic white PTI
Ink: Ranger Distress Ink Mustard Seed, Peeled Paint, Tea Dye, Blue Bayou - SU
Accessories: tag - Sizzix die/tag scallop combo, modern label punch - SU, ribbon - MFP, gold perfect pearls, mini mister - Ranger, foam dimensionals, Eclipse masking tape, hemp - SU

Speedy the Cats' Friends Challenge #11 - Punch it Up!

Happy Saturday everyone! And welcome to another Speedy the Cats' Friends Challenge. This week we have to use punches on our card or project!

I used a scalloped edge punch as well as a butterfly punch on my card today!

The stamp set is Apples and Camelia - one of the July sets being released next week! Inside I stamped Get Well Soon (one of the sentiments in the set).

I added a lot of black and white dots, the gingham ribbon and gold apple charm!

We'd love to have you join us in the challenges over on Marks Finest Papers Blog and to link your 'use punches' card there. You could win a free MFP stamp set!

If you load your card over at Split Coast Stampers, please use Speedy's Friends in your keywords.

Doggone Great!

Well - I'm bringing along this doggie to the Split Coast tea party this week - he's very unhappy that I plopped this party hat on his head and tied it around his ears... and he absolutely refused to wear the spots I was going to put on him - so I had to just surround him with them instead.

The colors are this weeks SCS color challenge.

Here's the inside of my card. Thanks for stopping by today!
Hope you can come by on Saturday - I'll have my WMS sketch challenge card as well as Speedy the Cats' Friends Challenge card - a busy day for sure!

Mark's Finest Papers is one of the sponsors and since I'm on Speedys' Friends DT I thought I'd join in the festivities! You will find the challenge and all the deets here.

Three from Split Coast

This weeks inspiration challenge over at Split Coast came from the Oompa Toy Store web site. I went with this green lunchbox

I stamped and over stamped a weed and floral stamp from Rubbernecker using two colors of green. I used the mesh embossing folder on my back panel and sponged everthing with Tea Dye ink. I paper pierced around 3 edges of the image panel and added a little bling to the corners.

For my sentiment - I used a piece of a panel I cut with Labels One Nestabilities.

Stamps: Rubbernecker: Florals #496-03, Weeds #497-14, Sentiment/Floral Silhouette #467
Paper: Ripe Avocado, Rustic White, Spring Moss - PTI
Ink: Ranger Distressed Tea Dye, Adirondack Lettuce & Willow, Brilliance Moonlight White
Accessories: Rhinestones - Kaiser, Paper piercer & pad - SU, Mesh Cuttlebug embossing folder, ink sponge applicator - Ranger, Twill ribbon - PTI, Labels One Nestabilities
Techniques: dry embossing, sponging

Today's CAS challenge was to choose a cake from Carries Cakes web site for inspiration. I chose this blue pyramid cake

Here's what I stamped on the inside of my card. The sentiment is from Celtic Heritage.
Boy, what gorgeous cakes on this site!

Stamps: Waltzingmouse Stamps - Victorian Fripperie, Celtic Heritage
Paper: White, Hawaiian shores - PTI, DP Free digi paper - Sugar Plum Paper Daisies
Ink: Adirondack Espresso, Taken with Teal - SU
Accessories: adhesive paper ribbon - K&Co, Sticky Pearls, corner rounder punch, foam dimensionals

My third card is from the Try a New Technique challenge which was to make a flower (not just using a flower punch).
I made my flower using 4 scalloped circles that I sponged with Tea Dye ink and then crumpled up. I opened them up and attached a big black brad in the center (it has a reflection spot on it in the pic). I used the same DP for the flower as I used for the bg paper.
My stamps are from Fancy Phrases by Waltzingmouse Stamps I made this flower before using 12 scalloped circles but you would never ever be able to mail a card with that thick of a flower on it!! Using just 4 circles is thin enough to mail (although it will squish I'm sure!)
Stamps: Waltzingmouse - Fancy Phrases
Paper: White - PTI, black - SU, DP Unknown
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Ranger distress Tea Dye
Accessories: prima artful flowers, glue dots, foam dimensionals, sponge applicator - Ranger, scallop circle punch - SU, large brad - American Crafts Elements
