H&M Stamps Blog Hop - Candles Light the Way

Welcome to the 2nd H&M Stamps blog hop! Each member of the Design Team has created a holiday craft for you to be inspired by! You can participate and win - see info at end of post!!

I'm excited to show you my contribution today!

I made this lovely trio of candles showing the Nativity Scene using this beautiful Christmas set by H&M Stamps called A Child is Born.

You can see a tutorial for how to do this technique on Split Coast here.

Basically - you stamp your image on a piece of white tissue paper, color it with markers or reinkers, crayons or colored pencils - cut around the image and place the tissue paper image on the candle where you want it located.

Then you cut a piece of wax paper a little bigger than the height of the image and long enough to wrap around the candle with a few inches more to grab. Wrap the wax paper around the candle over the tissue paper image and hold the wax paper tight against the image on the candle by grabbing the wax paper in the back.

Move your hot gun over the wax paper and image until you see the tissue 'disappear' into the candle (this doesn't take long at all). Remove the wax paper and your image is on your candle and the tissue paper should be invisible. Repeat with each image you want on the candle. Then you can decorate as you wish.

I stuck a star brad in the shepherd candle. I used a green one - thinking it represented the green hillside the shepherds would be on with their sheep.

and I added silver stickles to the crown and gift of this king.

I added gold ribbon to the top and bottom of the Holy Family candle as well as a silver stickles halo around baby Jesus' head.

These candles are so easy to make and come out so professional looking! I think this trio would make a lovely Christmas decoration for a mantle or as a table centerpiece.

Please hop over to the other Design Team members below to see what fun creations they have to show you! Our two new DT members, Kimberly and Julie, are participating too - whoo hoo!! so be sure to welcome them when you drop by their blogs!

  1. My favorite Christmas memories are obviously from when I was a child. Every Christmas morning my little brother would wake me up at 5am to go downstairs to see what Santa brought us. My parents rule was that we could open 1 gift before they woke up, but had to wait to open the rest (they usually got up around 7ish). I was always annoyed with my brother since we had to sit around forever, but now I love to think back to those mornings!

  3. OH JULIA! Your holiday candles are so very magical! I love each one so much! The green one with the gold star is beautiful, I love the sparkle on the crown in the 2nd one and your tall candle completes this gorgeous trio! I have really been wanting to do a candle, but never have. I'm going to buy some today and really give this a try. You have inspired me to do so, although they couldn't possibly turn out as beautiful as these. Thank you for sharing this awesome holiday project and now, onward to see what other fabulousness the H&M DT has for me!:) hugs!

  4. Those candles are great; I really need to try that sometime. My favorite Christmas memory was getting to open one present with my family on Christmas Eve before all the extended family craziness.
