June 2023 Group of Seven Cardmakers - Design Element: Off the Edge

The June Group of Seven Cardmakers post is up!

This month Loll has chosen a design element for us to play with -  Off the Edge.  Simply stamp off the edge of your panel -  or use a die cut off the edge of your panel and cut off the excess.

I stamped off both edges of my card.  This fun stamp is a wood block stamp Little Ladies Mail Art I purchased on Etsy and it has 3 ladies carrying letters.  I stamped it twice slightly off both left and right edges.  I colored the ladies with Copics.  Then I used a slimline frame die to cut above and below the image on the stamped panel.  The dots of the edge of the frame gives a ground for the ladies and also visually breaks up the plain panel.

You'll find more inspiration for "Off the Edge" over at The Group of Seven Cardmakers.  If you'd like to try this design element out - please link it up over there!

Inkspirational #292 - Designer's Choice - Emboss your Background

I am the hostess of the Inkspirational #292 Challenge
and I am asking everyone to Emboss Your Background!
either using embossing powder (wet embossing) or using an embossing folder (dry embossing!)

I used wet embossing, inking my stamp with Versamark Ink, stamping the image on the card panel,  covering the panel with black embossing powder, shaking off the extra powder and then heating with my heat tool!

I used the same beautiful floral cover stamp on my three card samples, Daisy Days, from Unity.

Love, love, love this stamp!

For my first card - I embossed the image on a white panel using black embossing powder.  Then I sponged over the blooms with Ranger Distress Inks in Mustard Seed and Carved Pumpkin.  I added gold to the flower centers and gold splatter over the panel using a gold Paint Marker.  I also splattered with a black POSCA Pen.  I trimmed down the panel and layered it over a black panel die cut with Nested Rectangle with Square Holes die from Rubbernecker.

I used the same technique as above for this second card but I didn't add any color to the petals,
just the gold and black splatter.

For my third card, I embossed the image with white embossing powder over a black card panel.  I added orange, green and pink splatters with POSCA pens and used a Raspberry Fizz card panel for the framing.

Please join us and link up your embossed cards!  You'll find the challenge and lots of inspiration from the rest of the Design Team at Inkspirational
You have until June 30th to link up your card!

Thinking of You

I have a ton of stencils that I loved, purchased and filed away never to be used - so I found some craft room time today and thought I should get one of them out and play!

I made this background with a 3 part Modern Mosaic Layering Stencil from Taylored Expressions.  The sentiments are from In My Thoughts by Altenew (retired).

Inkspirational Challenge #291 - Seasonal

There's a new post up at Inkspirational today!

Since I need to get a jump on my Christmas cards -  I chose Christmas/Winter as my season!

I laid my Fir Branch Stencil over a panel of water color paper.  I lightly tapped  Dark Brown Brushos over the pine cone area and Emerald Green Brushos over the pine areas.  Then I spritzed with water activating the color crystals.  I carefully lifted the stencil off the panel and had this lovely print.  I put it aside to dry and then added the Label Sticker from Idea-ology as a sentiment!

When you do this technique, the top of the stencil ends up with lots of pooled Brushos on it.  So I quickly flipped over the stencil and pressed it onto another panel of water color paper.

When I removed the stencil off the panel, it was mostly the splotches of green that you see on the panel below and really did not leave a definition of the pine cones.  So, after this panel dried, I laid the stencil over it and sponged over it with brown ink - quite a  different negative/positive print look - but a lovely card I think?!

I didn't waste the watery Brushos
AND I got two Christmas cards done!  Win/Win!

So please join us and choose a SEASON for your card design!  You will find lots of Seasonal inspiration  over at Inkspirational.

You have until June 16th to link up your card!

May Card Chain Challenge Reveal Post

Today's the day of the May Card Chain Challenge reveal.   I sent my card to Tina in Slovenia and I received a card from Brenda in the UK!

For my card, I used the suggested Sketch, Colors (Navy, Turquoise, Gold) and Theme of Friendship.

I just love using flip flops on a summer card!  These are cute 3D stickers from Jolee.  I die cut the heart out of DP as well as white card and glued the pieces together and layered them over the DP with foam dots.

If you'd like to join in for the June card exchange - you have until June 6th to sign up - all the details are on the Card Chain Challenge blog!

I'm also linking my card to:
