September CAS Mix Up Challenge - Watercolour Wash

What a fun challenge for September over at the CAS Mix Up Challenge!  Bonnie is our host this month and this is her challenge!
Here is the definition of watercolour wash that Bonnie has over on the challenge blog:

wash is a term for a visual arts technique resulting in a semi-transparent layer of color. Normally only one or two colours of wash are used. [from Wikipedia]

There are also several links to YouTube videos on this technique on the blog.
I watched this one to learn about Watercolour Wash:  Watercolor Wash 3 Ways by LindsayWeirich

I used watercolour wash, stamping, and my choice of dry embossing and sequins on my CAS card today!
I took a panel of Arches Watercolor paper and did a watercolor wash over it using a blue and a dark pink watercolor paint mixed with water.  After the panel had dried, (speeded up a bit with my heat tool!) I stamped the trees along the bottom and the quote above them using Archival Jet Black ink. To keep it CAS,  I cut the panel down to fit onto the bottom half of my card
I embossed another watercolor paper panel using Tim Holtz Tall Pines embossing folder.  I layered the panels to a white card base.

So we hope you will try doing a watercolour wash on your CAS design card and link it up over at the the September CAS Mix Up Challenge!  You have until Sept 24th to link up!

This is absolutely lovely, Julia - the soft blended colours of the sky are so pretty, and the tree silhouettes are magical against them. I love how you've mounted the smaller panel on the embossed white card - a delight! Oh, and of course those wonderful words!!

The wash of blue and pink in the sky behind your trees reminds me of some of the beautiful sunsets that we have here. So pretty!! And I love the texture and design of your dry embossed trees in the background, Julia. xx

Love the soft serene colours of your watercolour wash - great backdrop for the simple trees and the wonderful quote. I like the repeat of the tree motif on your embossed cardbase.

love the simplicity of the trees and gorgeous water colour wash sky. I've got to get a set of Alison Bomber quotes, I see paper Artsy now has them in and lucky me heading to the UK in a week :)
